  • Our First Jobs: Confessions of a True Carney

Welcome welcome welcome to the GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!!! Yes, I might be overselling it but Sun Tzu did say ""Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win". Translation, believe in yourself and we TOTALLY believe in ourselves. This week we did what we do best and that's sometimes just let the conversation be organic. We talked about our first jobs, (the 90's and early 2000's were a weird time for jobs) Matt's love of McDonalds' filet o' fish sandwich, Taters being an honest to goodness CARNEY and Adam's Mom accidentally releasing his childhood pet hamster P.H. into the wilds of his old ass apartment in NJ (R.I.P., P.H. Gone too soon, never forgotten...). All this and MORE on this week's edition of...FUELED BY NOSTALGIA!!!

  • Nacho Average Moms!

Greetings, Combustors (for now, that's what we're calling our listeners. We're trying a thing, go with it)! Here we are, back with another week of nostalgic goodness. Adam, Matt and Taters LOVE their respective Moms, of course, but you know what they also love? RANKING THINGS! MAKING LISTS! This week we ran a draft for our favorite pop-culture Moms and then ran those lists through the interwebs using VERY sciencey/mathematical methodology to determine who's list has the strongest grouping of Moms. You know, that grouping of Moms who might dive headfirst into an alternate dimension to save their kid from a Lovecraftian monster, or maybe that Mom who's willing to fight off an unstoppable cyborg hell bent on killing their kid whilst still in utero. You know, just the things your average Moms will do for their kid. Be ready for anything as we celebrate all things MOM this week on...FUELED BY NOSTALGIA!!!

  • Phoenix FanFusion Mode...ACTIVATED!!!

Why bury the lead, right? Today true believers we have the honor of hanging out with Zach Taylor! Zach is the Event Producer for Phoenix FanFusion and he is a fount of convention stories and experiences. We are a pop culture podcast and this is 1000% in our wheelhouse. We cover the full gamut of topics, from Matt talking about going to the first ever Phoenix ComicCon (back when it could legally be called by that) to Adam talks about defeating a Spider-Nerd to win the 2007 Phoenix ComicCon Greatest Nerd Award (he doesn't remember what it was actually called) using his mastery of Jeopardy! type gamesmanship. Understand something listeners: things like FanFusion aren't for the weak of foot or slight of heart. When you attend FanFusion you have to know you're going to be surrounded by 130k+ people for three days. You will be moving the whole time and if you step back, take it all in... it's a magical experience. So grab your longbox, your free show program and your comfiest pair of shoes and get ready to walk through an hour plus of entertainment as we talk all things FanFusion! This week we are fueled by FanFusion and we are...FUELED BY NOSTALGIA!!!

  • Juuuuuust A Bit Outside!

This week we are all about SPORTS! No, we're not talking about the immortal album by the great "Huey Lewis & the News". It's OUR time to shine, Huey and we did just that. This week we're happy to present our first guest, the amazing Dave Barend! Dave can be found at collegebasketballtimes.com and he melded beautifully with our little tripod. So we wish we could say that we didn't just fall head first into movies yet again, but...yeah, we did. Only this time it was sports movies! So that's...different, right? Whatever, we do what we want. Dave is kind of known for ranking things and he did not disappoint. Also, he managed to stump Adam with his knowledge of obscure movies (Adam now has to watch "Cornbread, Me and Earl" and "The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh"). So grab your mouthguard, strap your pads on tight as we hit the field and go over our favorite popular and not quite as popular (see "Maurie", another one Adam has to watch) sports flicks! We love our sports movies but we aren't JUST fueled by competition, we are, as always... FUELED BY NOSTALGIA!!!

  • Video Killed the Radio Star

This week we are fueled by our love of MTV, or at the very least what MTV used to be. We examine everything from our old school love music videos to TRL and some of the amazing cartoons featured on Liquid Television. For those of you who missed out on those years, you missed out on The Buggles, Cyndi Lauper being so perfectly weird, the amazingness that was seeing "Thriller" when it came out and the sad beauty that was Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U". For those who love animation? You were introduced via Liquid Television to "Beavis and Butthead" as well as "AEon Flux" and Adam's two favorite weird ass shows, "The Head" and "The Maxx" (RIP Sam Kieth). This is what we do here. We celebrate nostalgia and everything that comes with and we hope you're ready for a celebration of all things MTV as throw on our spacesuits, find our remotes and prep to plant our flag right alongside the moon man! This is...FUELED BY NOSTALGIA!!!

  • Spies Like Us (Or THE EPIC RETURN OF TATERZ!!!)

You know them, you love them...SPIES! This week we talk all about the spy flicks and tv shows we love. From Austin Powers to Bond to the Dynamic Duo known as Bea and Twila...let's just say if you dig spies and this one doesn't have it maybe you really didn't need it. Also, the triumphant return of TATERS! 100%, this show doesn't work without the third leg of the tripod. We LITERALLY just tip over and start talking about apples, as clearly shown in our last episode. It wasn't bad but we get weird without Taters keeping us stable. Grab your tux, sports car and whatever other stereotypical spy stuff you can think of, sit down with us at the stereotypical high stakes European card game with us and prepare to GO ALL IN WITH POCKET ACES EVERY TIME as we lead you down another ADHD infused episode of FUELED BY NOSTALGIA!!!

  • Gran'ma Taters Forever!!!

Losing our people sucks. Gran'ma Taters went to that big arcade in the sky. Taters shared a little bit about her with us all and she sounds like she was an amazing lady. The world is just a teeny bit darker but we're here to help lighten the load and brighten things up. Matt and Adam take the reins this week, sharing a little bit about their grandparents. Also, Matt also talks about his utter dominance on the baseball field, rocking the greater upstate New York little league world with his sporting prowess. We're not here to be downers, we're here to bring the party! We've been down but we're never out so let's go. Strap on your party hats and let's rock this celebration of life. It's like the title says "GRAN'MA TATERS FOREVER!!!"

  • Fully Tanked on the Late 1900s!!!

Let's face it, not everything from the past was great (new Coke, canned spaghetti on white bread and Tuna Helper, we're looking directly at YOU) but there are somethings that were legit solid. In this episode our intrepid time travelers jump into the way back machine and look back at businesses we used to hit up, places we found comfort, like the local video store. Naturally, as we are a bunch of ADHD-addled squirrels we go way off topic and head into spots we never planned to go but we think that's part of our CHARM. We also learn that Taters has NEVER sat around marinating in her own funk, Adam had ZERO issues with his musk and Matt misses...I don't wanna ruin it for you. Just listen to the show, yeah? We're here to bring you back to the late 1900s and our Time Machine is FUELED BY NOSTALGIA!!!

  • We are feeling REEL GOOD about these awards!!!

Yes, it's awards season and while we don't typically watch awards shows we do recognize the greatness that is movie making. In this episode we dare to attempt to distract you with our aural abilities, talking all about movies we loved that didn't win, movies we love that are winners and everything in between! And always remember, no matter what, clap for the winners, clap for those who didn't win and always pretend like you won because well, to your Mom (at least we hope, unless she hates you for some reason and that's just...that's just unfortunate) no matter what you'll always be a WINNER! So do your best to squeeze into that tux or black dress you've had in storage for God knows how long, shine your shows and get read to strut yourself because we're going HEADFIRST into awards season on this edition of FUELED BY NOSTALGIA!

  • WE ARE NOT THE HUNTED...WE ARE THE HUNTERS!!!

...and this week we examine the greatest hunter of all time...THE PREDATOR!!! Yes, your intrepid tripod of friendship dives face first into the goodness puddle known as "The Predator" franchise! We move thru the timeline, determining the order of goodness of these flicks and figuring out which flick was the best and which is by far the worst (hint, it stars an actor who's name rhymes with Glanny Dlover). Also we examine the trade of the century in where two mid players in the 1970's swapped not just WIVES but entire families. Yes, you read that right, kids and all. So grab your bats, gloves and unnatural appreciation for spines being removed the hard way from human bodies and get ready for this week's edition of FUELED BY NOSTALGIA!
