At the top of the news this week is the pair of new Amazon Echo products, the Tap and the Echo Dot. The former is a portable Bluetooth version of the Echo, and the latter is a squat, compact Echo that’s meant to be placed in a second location in your house. Both offer all the same voice controls, and the same instant access to Alexa.

This is a huge development for Amazon, David argues, because it puts the company squarely at the forefront of the voice-controlled smart home. It also hints at AI’s future.
