This series just getting better!

Yes, many of her passages read like poetry so that you have to read them over and over for the beauty. Yes, she explores societal issues in a way that makes you think and accurately captures the Episcopal tradition. Yes, every character is fully formed and they are people with whom you want to spend time. But, the relationship between the primary characters is also wonderful and in this book very rewarding.

Great story line, just a bit repetitive

Love this series and glad to see Lucy working hard as an agent, just a little repetitive at times is only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Now I can't wait for the next one!!!

TOO DRAMATIC

The narrator is way over dramatic. Even describing breakfast sounds like a life or death situation. I am a fan of the series and as a fan I' m well aware of how perfect Lucy and Sean are. I do not need to be reminded every five minutes. It is like the author is using their relationship as filler. I hope it doesn't continue down this "Twilight-can't breath unless I'm next to you" path.

Intriguing

Once again Allison Brennan takes a storyline and throws twists and turns that you don't see coming. I like the feeling of using my detective skills right along with the characters. Enjoy the reading.

Hard to put down

Not going to say a lot because none of my reviews have been "helpful". There has to be a fifth book to come and I will anxiously be looking forward to it.

The Harvest Man

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No. This series has become more disorganized as it has progressed. I think it's time for Mr. Grecian to take a vacation and decide what he intends to do with this story.

What was most disappointing about Alex Grecians story?

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series. By the third book, Mr. Grecian started moving into a story line that was still somewhat enjoyable but becoming more difficult to understand and/or believe. The Harvest Man is so unbelievable and disorganized that I could only listen in short segments. I did finish the book because I wanted to be fair to Mr. Grecian, but he only dug the hole deeper. I was totally depressed by the time I heard the end of this book. I have no idea what Mr. Grecian intends to do with the rest of this story but I doubt I'll spend anymore money or time to find out.

What about John Curlesss performance did you like?

I have always enjoyed listening to Mr. Curless's performances and this was no exception.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No.

Alex Grecian does it again!

Excellently crafted tale once again, this is a fantastic series each book building on the prior. Well rounded characters, brought to life by the narrator in such vivid colour. It takes a great talent to be able to voice so many characters with such variety. Too many audio characters are nearly indistinguishable from each, not so here. The only solace to take from the cliffhanger ending is that it promises a continuation of the story. I for one will be eagerly anticipating it's release!

Another Good Listen

A lot of loose ends in this one, and one serious cliff hanger at the end.

My biggest issue with this novel is not knowing the Harvest Man's back story.

Im addicted to the Bosch series, but this was spoilt by the audio jumping in parts, from 5 hours in.

Best Bosch book in ages. would even serve as a first into to the series.

Let down by glitchy audio...

Hilariously entertaining!

It was great to finally see Anita involved in a paranormal situation.

Yes, I have listened to them all and I have a hard time choosing a favorite. I'm waiting for more!

I really enjoyed it, all the more because I've listened to the rest and feel "at home" with the characters. It's kind of a comforting feeling.

I'd highly recommend anyone who likes a haunting story, but more on the "light" side, to listen to these books.

I love this series

The books in this series are so good that I am sad when I come to the end. The characters are well developed and funny. Their are enough personality quirks that make the characters come and alive. and seem real. The plot is rich with many twists and turns so it never becomes stagnant. This is one of my favorite series and I can't wait until the next book is available.

First Thought when Finished:Inspector Specter by E.J. Copperman was another delightful entry in the A Haunted Guesthouse Mystery series. This series has delightful characters, strong mysteries, and a ton of fun. They don't have to be read in order (I didn't), they work well as stand alone mysteries!

Everybody gets to die

Wow he certainly wasn't worrying about sparing the characters lives in this one, which made it even more awesome. I REALLY enjoyed this book.

So discouraging when authors make 3 books out of 2

It ticks me off when authors leave cliff hangers (as in Book 1 of the Early Years trifecta, just to squeeze 3 books out of what should have been just 2. Wilsons obvious greed here was disgusting.

Good stories..all 3 books have continuing characters and would have been better served NOT being a trilogy..but I guess Wilson needed the bucks?

I almost was upset enough to have missed the entire series from being in a snit about the first book in the series. That would have been a shame, though, because as this second listening to the entire series, starting with The Early Years, I would have missed a great protagonist and writer..and a variety of good and poor narrators.

You have to listen to all 3 of these books in order to have the story conclude with any sense. And, listening to them before starting the actual series is great for giving some information about RM Jacks past..well..the early years.

Get these if you enjoy the series and listen to them first if you like Wilsons work or 'Man solves crimes and helps people" genre.

Worth the credit? not really..but you have no choice.

What does Alexander Cendese bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

This reader is incredible. Every character comes to life! I normally would not have picked this kind of story, but I just don't want it to end. I know there are more books in this series, but I notice that the reader is different. Don't know if I will continue as I don't know who could match this performance.

It made me cheer for the what I perceive to be the good guys!

Maybe, it has several twists and turns, but it an incredible story. If I were to listen again, I would start from the beginning of the series and re-listen to all of them.

Narration Throw Me for Loop

Would you consider the audio edition of A Grave Matter to be better than the print version?

No. But the audio version is convenient during my drive to work and back.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lady Darby is a bundle of contradictions. I only wish she wouldn't "retell" her entire backstory every couple chapters.

Would you be willing to try another one of Heather Wildss performances?

No. Heather Wilds needs some major work. Where do I start? Her sense of a sentence is "off" -- the pacing stops and starts in the wrong places. She needs less monotone and more delivery. She's good at Scots and other dialects, but the voice she uses for Lady Darby or exposition is awful. She puts the emphasis on the wrong words so much that I find myself re-narrating aloud in the car -- in essence, fixing her work. I just wonder if anyone else is noticing? Listening to these parts of the book is like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Very readable!

This third in the series of the Lady Darby mysteries is very readable, although I favored the first two stories more.

Those enjoying a will written romantic thrillers will find of this story to their liking.

I enjoyed "A grave matter". I like it when Lady Darby solves the mystery and of course Sebastian Gage. Looking forward to reading the next Lady Darby mystery. I love the descriptions of the places in Scotland.

More romance than mystery

Excited about treating myself between Hogmanay and Burns' Day to a mystery set in Scotland between those same dates, I spent a credit on A Grave Matter. The narrator's Scots accents are excellent, the story's historic and geographic backgrounds are well researched, and the novel opens with a gripping scene: the good luck man with dark hair bearing gifts is pushed aside at midnight, and the first man to cross the threshold is a bad luck harbinger with red hair, streaked with blood. Wonderful! But then? No other word for it: the story drags. I think the source of the drag is that the intensity of the novel is concentrated in the fits-and-starts relationship between the traumatized artistic widow and her seeming playboy detective suitor. The mystery is just a jumble of investigations that throws them together. As a comedy of manners, which I was not looking for, the book earns the four stars I gave it. As a mystery, lack of emotional investment by any of the main characters in the laws being broken, myths confronted, or even bodies exhumed makes pursuing the criminals rather tedious.

Enjoyable listening!

I am currently listening to this series, and enjoying it very much. I feel it is well-written and well-narrated. No objectionable language, no sexual situations. A nice, pleasant listening experience. This particular story was no exception. I thought I had figured out who the murderer was, but I was wrong. Moving on to the next one......

The best Ian Rutledge mystery yet

I adore all the prior Ian Rutledge mysteries but this one is my favorite. The narration is perfect, characters well developed and diverse and great mystery.

Another Superb Charles Todd Novel

Te headline says it all. I really enjoyed this book. Samuel Gillies is a good narrator.

I have enjoyed reading the Ian Rutledge mysteries, and this one has been the best of the series so far. It keeps u hooked and always second guessing. I have to say I really like Simon Prebble as the narrator but as the novel progressed i really got to like Samuel Gillies' voice and expression. Well worth a credit

It keeps getting better

Kathleen and friends are back in another great book. Owen and Hercules are also great and add to the fun. There is a lot of character development and the plot was fast paced. I look forward to the next book.

HEA but still more to come. YEAH!

I love the Magical Cats series and always look forward to the next one. Not exactly 'cliff-hangers' but HEA for each episode leaving us looking for the next one to come. Gotta love those cats,.

I'm really enjoying this series. I'm a cat lover. Didn't really care for the narrator.

Since I am a big fan of these books, I thought everything about it was adorable. Like the plot, characters, & narration
