Start einer neuen Krimireihe

Das Buch ist der Beginn einer neuen Krimi Reihe mit den sympathischen Protagonisten Freyja und Haldur. Die Beiden verbindet ein One Night Stand in der jüngsten Vergangenheit , insofern waren beide nicht über die Zusammenarbeit begeistert.

Der grausame Mord an einer jungen Mutter gibt der Polizei Rätsel auf. Die siebenjährige Tochter der Toten war Zeugin des Geschehens und ist entsprechend traumatisiert.

Die Psychologin Freyja versucht auf behutsame Weise Informationen von dem Mädchen zu bekommen.

Als ein weiterer Mord nach der gleichen Methode geschieht, gerät die Polizei immer mehr unter Druck. Es gibt verschiedene Spuren, die jedoch alle ins Leere laufen.

Dann ist Haldurs Kollegen scheinbar der entscheidende Durchbruch gelungen. In der Wohnung eines Amateurfunkers ,werden Gegenstände gefunden, die eindeutig den Morden zugeordnet werden können.

Kommissar Haldur ist jedoch nicht von seiner Schuld überzeugt und ermittelt weiter.

Die Geschichte entwickelt von Anfang an, einen solchen Sog dem man sich nicht entziehen kann. Der Autorin ist es auf hervorragende Weise gelungen , immer weitere Verdachtsmomente einfließen zu lassen , sodass die Spannung nie abnahm.

Ich gebe eine klare Leseempfehlung ab und freue mich auf weitere Fälle mit den beiden Protagonisten.

My first book I have got from Harlan Coben. Loved it, the story was good, the ending was good, I am hooked.

amazing.....wonderful....brilliant

Love love love..amazing story and brilliantly read..... even though I have read every book by Coben I am now starting again with all Myron and Mickey novels..... on audio... thank you Harlen Coben

Refreshing.

This is the first Harlan Coben audio book i have listened to in about 3 years and i forgot how much i loved his stile of writing, this has to be one of my favourite series. There's just something about the interaction between the main characters it just makes me want to keep listening. So if you are looking for a good listen then look no further and give this a try.

As good as always..

I've read all of the author's books and have enjoyed them all. This has the usual, intricate plot & strong characters. The narrator's portrayal of Nancy grated but maybe that's what he was aiming for.

Tachycardia in print

This book had me gripped from the beginning. The narrator is exceptionally talented at making the characters believable. The story unfolds gradually and travels across the world entangling different cultures all involved in the same crime.

This book would appeal to adults who like psychotic yet likeable characters, believable fiction set in the present and a mystery that keeps you guessing right until the end.

Hard to follow

The story only hots up on the final quarter & is good thereafter. However, the Icelandic names are a challenge making the story lines difficult to follow. Not the best book I've listened to but well narrated.

Disappointing

This could have been so good but for such a short story it seems hideously slow.

The performance is good but I found it very distracting that the narrator did all the Northern Icelandic accents in the precise style of David Mitchell's "and that's a bad miss" snooker commentator.

I didn't hate it, is the best I can say.

Volcano's fall out

Once I got accustomed to the Icelandic names of people and places I found this story exciting and enjoyed the backdrop of the Icelandic volcano's eruption.The story or pieces of the puzzle untold through the hunt by the police and journalists making an interesting plait of strands. The backdrop of the country with its wild scenery is a part of this interesting criminal tale.

The narrator is excellent in his characterisation and narration.

Not as gripping as the first two books

Not as gripping as the first two books, still enjoyed it though. Hope the next one is better.

something different

I purchased this on an impulse after check I Nguyen reviews. Glad I did as I really enjoyed the story and hearing about Iceland. Good read and well read

A compelling story

Three cheers for Rina! She makes the best of the situations in which she finds herself. Yep, this one will have you sitting in the parking lot, not wanting to click "pause."

Lost interest

Found this hard to follow and abit boring ! Only thing kept me going was the amazing Annie aldington queen of narrators , brings any story to life no mattter how boring . Still I don't think I will bother with the next book .

Brilliant!!

I loved this audiobook - LOVED!

My God, housework was never so much fun before audiobooks - these days it'd be impossible for me to even contemplate trying do stuff around the house without one on!!

Straight into what will hopefully be a terrific book 2, I mean one can't really go wrong... gangland London (I literally used to live a couple of streets away from the main streets in the book - and that's always fun to read!), a lesbian contract killer with a dysfunctional family life and history, dual time periods of her young self and Rina now through alternate chapters, starting in the 50's and moving forward through time (a really interesting way to have written it) and the hope of a HEA for Rina - whichever way she swings - is all good for me!!

THEN!!! Add ANNIE "The Dog's Bollocks of Narration" ALDINGTON to the mix and OMFG a whole other level of AWESOME is reached *sighs happily* ...it doesn't get much better than this friends!

Nonstop action

Phew what can I say I'm exhausted from listening to this book, it's really nonstop and even though the heroine is actually a murderer I can't help but like her, have downloaded the second book and can't wait to listen.

Promise will draw you in...

A modern take on a longstanding social issue. When and how ...and how far...would you go to protect a stranger's child? I fell in love with so many of the characters and have even caught myself wondering how they are doing now. This story also explores the mother-daughter bond from a fresh angle as well. Just wish there was a manual of Australian terms and items. What the heck is a pyklette??? A cookie?

Captivating

This dook will grab u and not let u go it is great book. I loved it and really gets on out soul.

Interesting story

I liked the overall storyline although it seems quite far fetched.

I like that it draws attention to important issues of child welfare.

The narrator has a pleasant voice and good cadence. I thought the Aussie accent was great because the book is set in Australia so that was fitting.

This story was better paced and actually more suspenseful than many of Stephen King's books. The reader never really knew when the "hammer was coming down" so to speak and what was going to happen in the end. The sad fact is that Charlie's story is not unusual. Unfortunately, our version of Children and Family Services here in the States, often punish normal, loving families for actions such as letting their child walk to school, while a child in Charlie's situation, would mostly go unnoticed, sometimes until it's too late. This story is very true to life.

What a story!!

I usually can't read sci-fi or futuristic stories because I have a hard time with the imagery. This one is the exception. I could envision everything, thanks to the wonderful descriptions from the author and beautiful narrative of January. I loved this book!

Amazing

Action packed sci-fi, lovely voice, amazing world of shared dreams, I listened through this book too fast, and I want a sequel now.

A very good story, nicely written.

Nice tight mystery

Not the best Aurelio Zen mystery but a nice easy read. Unfortuately Cameron Stewart voices are not the best. He narrates fine but secondary characters seem to either sound like thugs or the same upperclass bureaucrat. The women voices all sound like a Monty Python sketch. This is the only downside to an otherwise good narration of a basic nice mystery. I enjoyed the book and now I only have one more novel to complete the series and alas as Michael Dibdin has died, I guess Zen will be no more. What an enjoying read his books have been.
