Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not moved but where the book turned was interesting and abrupt
    Any additional comments?
Ben Lieberman did a great job, loved it and on to the next one.
    Not bad
I liked it. Story was unbelievable at times. The story line jumped around a bit.
    Great Work
I wanted to get through this book before Ben Lieberman birthday next month, no problem. The reading was great, wish I could perform like that! The story had everything in it . I was doing the laundry at the end of the story. Making me look at washing machines and dryers a little bit differently.

    Publisher's Summary:
Felix "O" O'Connor is an ex-con from central Ohio who has spent the last seven years working on a ranch in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming. Rarely does he venture out into the world and never does it come looking for him. Both of those things change when his twin sister, Alexa "Lex" Borden, calls from Columbus, Ohio, to ask for his help. Earlier that afternoon, she and her husband were both beaten unconscious, and their two-year-old daughter was abducted from their front yard. Nobody saw a thing, the police are stumped, and it is a well-known statistic that if a child isn't found in the first 48 hours, they rarely are. O immediately drives back to Ohio and finds himself with just twenty-one hours to find his beloved niece before potentially losing her forever. Plunging himself into a world he'd long ago left behind, he crosses paths with criminal masterminds, human traffickers, gun runners, drug smugglers, blood-thirsty spectators, and suspicious detectives, all in the name of bringing her home.

    Another Super Tough Guy Tale
This starts with a 23 year old ex-con who has 21 hours to find his kidnapped niece, A quick and obvious chain of formula driven conflicts ensues. Columbus Ohio cops are useless, his prison experience gives him leads cops will never have, he has to fight a giant to meet a bad guy. It only gets worse from there.
The narrator's voice is droll and mundane, though to be fair this books reads like a noir movie.
    Good Story,
Good story although very predictable. Liked the narrator's voice and the slow way he moved the story along.

    Publisher's Summary:
A thrilling BBC Radio full-cast spin-off from the Danish TV series, starring Tim Pigott-Smith.
Hans Gammelgaard, Private Secretary in the Danish Ministry of the Environment, is seeking approval for the controlled use of genetically modified crops by Danish farmers. However, unseen enemies seem prepared to go to any lengths in pursuit of their own agenda. When Hans is sacked, he and his grandson Nick join forces with cynical journalist Jan Gleerup to find out who has been pushing commercial interests in the GMO debate in Borgen. A series of threatening phone calls means time is running out. Hans begins to fear not only for the political situation, but also for his family. Adapted from the original Danish version, this radio drama is set against the backdrop of the first Borgen television series, which followed the unlikely emergence of Birgitte Nyborg as the country's new Prime Minister. At the centre of the drama is the Danish parliament, nicknamed Borgen - 'the castle'. While the TV drama focuses on the politicians, the radio drama is set in the world of the civil service.

    Incisive Drama
I found the start a little confusing at first but once I wound back and listened again to distinguish well who was who I could not stop listening. As a political drama Borgen is highly successful at demonstrating how politics always lead to a compromise with idealism and the demands of vested interests dangerously beyond the control of any political system however well-intentioned. Add to this the inevitable demands of the ego and the thirst for power on the individual level and how the individual interacts with others of similar ambitions and you have personal betrayal and scheming. Borgen allows you to explore your own conscience and questions of morality. This is thought-provoking drama at its best. I highly recommend it.

I Look Forward to this Series
Where does Deadly Ties rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It ranked up with the rest of the mysteries I like, and I enjoyed the story line.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I didn't get on the edge of my seat until the last half of the book.
What about Robin Rowans performance did you like?
I didn't like the narrator at all, and almost quit listening the first two chapters. She did get better, but I hope the next book in the series has a different narrator. I continued to listen because I liked the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I would not listen to this book in one sitting basically because of the narrator. Also, there were a lot of characters in this story, and they could have been pared down.
    Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed learning about the kennel and dog training part of this story.
    Pretty Good Start
This was a good start to a new series. The characters and setting were interesting. The plot was entertaining. However, I felt that the end was drawn out too much and should have been shorter. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the book and will give the second book a chance.
    A fun, dog-related "cozy" mystery
Maggie Porter has come home to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, reopening her grandfather's Waterside Kennels. She's been gone from the town since she was five, when her mother left the family and her father moved to Florida, taking her and her grandmother--her mother Margaret's mother. Now her grandmother is gone, Maggie has inherited the property, and it's time to start living her own dreams rather than trying to keep her father happy.
Maggie has found many people happy to welcome her back, and Waterside's pet boarding business is off to a strong start. The local veterinarian, Angus Sheppard, has enough confidence in her that he closes his clinic and his own kennel for remodeling, sending the boarding business her way. She's hired a groomer, and has hired part-time staff, some of whom worked for her grandfather in his last few years.

Great story! Fans of C.S. Forester Will Love It!!
One of the best of C.S. Forester's books! Great story!!
    Five Stars
    Great!
A lesser known work by Forester
Most of you who have come across this work have probably read the Hornblower series, Rifleman Dodd, The Captain from Connecticut, etc. I recently started looking for some of the more obscure or hard to find works by C.S. Forester and this was one of them. This is the story of a World War I officer -- Charles Randall -- and his experiences in life ranging from the Great War, his wife (and her questionable morals), his success as an inventor and more. This work has the feel of a traditional fiction novel written in Forester's classic style. If you are looking for another naval story by Forester this is not for you, but if you like Forester overall and want to see how wide his range was then give this one a try.
One of the better non Horblower Forrester titles
At first blush the story is a courtroom drama about a man wrongfully accused of his wife's lover's murder. At that level, it is a pretty satisfactory story with interesting characters, great courtroom scenes and very good plot, dialog and characterization.
It is also an interesting story of how much random chance plays in our lives. The main drama starts because a gentleman gives up his seat on the bus to a lady. Which can lead to romance and marriage. Or a fortune is made because the protagonist couldn't escape a boring dinner party. The police drama arises because he forgot his wallet in the bedroom and hand to run home to fetch it....
This is an interesting book on several levels and it excels at each.

A weight-loss clinic in New York City has an offer for you - give them $5,000 and they'll make you as thin as a supermodel. You can eat whatever you want and you'll never gain an ounce. Tempted? Fledgling journalist Karen Sumner would be - if only she had $5,000. When Karen finally walks through the blue and gold doors of The Program, though, she's on the trail of the hottest story of her career. If she and her friends are right, The Program is doing something even worse than creating an army of unnaturally thin women.
Library Journal calls The Program "a lively first novel. Highly recommended."
    Members Reviews:
    I really enjoyed this book.
The other reviews recount so much about the actual contents, the story arcs, and even reveal the ending so I'm not going to do any of that here. But I will tell you that my favorite character, the one I remember with fondness, is the husband who loved his wife, his chubby plump fleshy voluptuous wife, the woman he desired as well as loved, who is devastated when he loses his wife -- twice. How can someone lose a partner twice? You'll have to read the book to find out how. It's very sad. It also provokes thoughts about how well and how little we know the ones we love and are loved by. And finally the book calls into question not only the absurdity of the unending wish for slenderness (at any cost for many) but calls into question who we are trying to get skinny for.
Try his other books first, especially First Impressions and The Bookman's Tale
    Interesting premise. A bit preachy.
    A refreshing twist
on the idea of celebrating one's individual talents, without worrying about the "ideals" of the day. Too many women go through life with a constant feeling of inadequancy, all because they do not meet society's current definition of "beautiful". Charlie Lovett's novel, with its lively plot and heartfelt characters, reminds us that the beauty of the world lies in people's uniqueness, and true satisfaction in life comes from developing our own individual talents, without worrying about any unrealistic and misguided societal expectations.
Be happy with yourself, whatever your weight.
This is a very unusual book, and at first I thought - not for me. However, I stuck with it - writing is good, and I had to see how it ended. So, 4 stars only, but what an imagination has Mr Lovett!
    Three Stars
Too long and way too many twists and mostly of a Christian bent... but OK.

    Publisher's Summary:
Still recovering from traumas both physical and emotional, Jad Bell is tasked with bringing in the Uzbek, principal organizer of the terrorist attack that nearly cost Bell his ex-wife and daughter. But the Uzbek's just the beginning: his employer, the Architect, has already set in motion another, even more devastating attack.
At the center of it all are two women under deep cover. One, as beautiful as she is deadly, has just been dispatched on American soil to execute the Architect's deadly plans. The other is an American just emerging from a complex web of lies, whose intel may be the only hope Bell has to stop the assault before it begins. But after years of pretending to be somebody else, can she be trusted?
    Critic Reviews:
"Rucka gets his new series featuring Ex-Delta Force Master Sergeant Jad Bell off to a smashing start with this pitch-perfect thriller. This lean, mean thriller with just the right amount of character development and unexpected complications will appeal to all who enjoy this genre but particularly to readers who like a strong hero along the lines of Lee Child's Jack Reacher. Highly recommended." (Library Journal)
    Members Reviews:
Better and faster than Alpha Highly Recommended
If I could introduce a reader to Greg Rucka, I would hand over copies of Alpha, and Bravo, and tell them to turn on the answering machine, brew a pot of coffee, and hang a "Do Not Disturb!" sign on their door. The action reads, and feels REAL. The stories are excellently constructed, and would likely be best read in sequence... A before B.
Bravo picks up literally where Alpha left off, and propels you into an action sequence worthy of anything you can read today penned by other respected combat operations authors.
I found Rucka years ago through Finder and Keeper, and earlier Queen and Country novels.
I think Jad Bell is as good a character as Rucka has ever created. I hope this is a long series. There are plenty of letters remaining after A and B.
    Highly recommended.
    As good as it gets
When I read an exciting escapist book of this genre I do not want it to end so what I do is start another book and then come back to the one I stopped reading. This is what I have done with this book. Rucka is the real deal and I have read most of his previous books. Bravo is the second Bell book in what I hope is an on going series. His first book is a lights out gripping story from the first chapter. The second Bell book is just as good and it will keep your interest thru out. In our crazy world as outlandish as this plot may sound as we all know fictions is sometimes the truth we do not want to think about. Terrorist on US soil planning multiple attacks on our civilian population. Bell and his team is the only thing that can stop it from happening or can they?
Not as Good as Book 1
Mr. Rucka is a fine writer but I am going to be the outlier among present reviewers; chalk it up to personal taste. I found a good deal to like in "Bravo" but will emphasize a few things I was less pleased with to justify my lower rating.
The more or less consistent use of "handles" for his characters. This was the only negative for me in "Alpha", and I found it increasingly difficult to figure out who was who among the team, or to really care about people identified mostly by off-putting code names.
    The lack of interesting locale.
