    Publisher's Summary:
When Cal Weaver stops at a red light on a rainy night while driving home, he ignores the bedraggled-looking teenaged girl trying to hitch a lift. Even when she starts tapping on his window. But when she says, 'hey, aren't you Scott's dad?' and he realizes she's one of his son's classmates, he can't really ignore her. OK, so giving a ride to a teenage girl might not be the smartest move, but how much harm could it do?
Over the next 24 hours Cal is about to find out. When the girl, Claire, asks to stop at a restroom on the way home, he's happy to oblige. But the girl who gets back in the car seems strangely nervous, and it's only when they get nearer their destination that Cal realizes she no longer has the nasty cut that he noticed on Claire's hand. After he's finally let her out of the car he remains puzzled and intrigued. But it's only the next morning that he starts to really worry.
That's when the police cruiser turns up at his door and asks him if he gave a lift to a girl the previous night. A girl who has now been found brutally murdered. If Cal is going to clear his name he's going to figure out what Claire was really up to and what part he played in her curious deception. But doing so will involve him in some of the small town of Griffon's most carefully kept secrets - and a conspiracy as bizarre as it is deadly.

Not the best Linwood Barclay novel
The story starts off quite well but really drags towards the middle, the themes felt old.....bad cops intimidating innocent citizens etc. I persevered and though it felt a bit far fetched at times I enjoyed the book overall.
While not his best book it had enough twists and turns to keep me engaged while driving and doing housework.
This was my 5th audiobook by this author. I would recommend 'Trust Your Eyes' , ''No Time for Goodbye' and 'Never Look Away' before 'A Tap on the Window'.
    Don't bother
Would you try another book written by Linwood Barclay or narrated by Mark Zeisler?
I was looking for something easy when I picked this as I'd just finished a fairly heavy book. Having read a few Linwood Barclay's previous books I thought this would be a safe choice. How wrong I was. A terrible and utterly impluasible storyline, cringeworthy dialogue all delivered in a gruff and aggresive tone throughout. Unless you fancy having someone shout a rubbish story at you for 12 hours, I would certainly not recommend this audiobook.
What will your next listen be?
I will be looking for another crime or thriller audiobook, but will avoid Linwood Barclay like the plague.
What aspect of Mark Zeislers performance might you have changed?
His performance was fine, I think the source material was the problem.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger and how bad it was, dissapointment that I'd wasted a credit.
    Slow to get going
Linwood Barclay has written some gripping thrillers but this isn't one of them. It takes nearly 9 hours of listening padded out by inconsequential details for the momentum to get going. It's a thin story that depends on some stupid decisions by the main character mixed with the fallout from his son's death a couple months earlier.

    Another Great Jackson Mystery
    Any additional comments?
This author has done another great job. I've enjoyed watching these characters grow with each book and the storyline was great with a nice twist at the end. Each book in the series stands alone but it's also fun to read in order and watch the characters grow.
    Find a new narrator!!!
As always, the story line is wonderful, and the writing is great. The only problem with this book is the narrator - I didn't like his voice at all - he constantly sounds as though he needs to clear his throat. His vocal characterizations leave a great deal to be desired as well. But for the narrator, I would have given this book 5 stars for overall instead of just 3.
    nice little read
Not a bad book at all,it didn't do it for me, a bit slow and not enough murders and talking about it.

Tommy Scarred Wolf thought he had smelled the powder for the last time ten years ago. Then somebody messed with his family. With no government willing or able to help out, it's up to Tommy and his detective brother, Vince, to find Vince's kidnapped daughter halfway around the world. But rescuing her is going to take funding, firepower, and friends.
Fortunately, Tommy knows some shooters just crazy enough to tag along - including some survivors from his last suicide mission: retired SEAL team commander Rocco Cavarra; former Delta Force operator Jake McCallum; and the unflappable sniper Leon Campbell. On the ocean, in the jungle, and an urban purgatory, Tommy Scarred Wolf and his warrior brothers will face human traffickers, modern-day pirates, a typhoon, and an ultra-secret black ops team so dangerous even the CIA can't touch them.
There's something far more sinister than just "white slavery" going on here - and it's about to ram these men through a crucible which may never endexcept in death.

Great continuation of characters and action
Excellent sequel to Hell & Gone, though only a sequel for the characters. Another great plot with good detail & really good action scenes
I Don't Want To Be A Pirate Anymore!
Great sequel! The bad-ass band of homicidal misfits are back together for another testosterone fueled adventure through the pirate infested oceans, cities and jungles of Indonesia. In this sequel to "Hell and Gone" Henry Brown really sharpens his writing with a much improved "flow" and a much improved story arc. "Tier Zero" is much more character driven(and developed)than its predecessor focusing a little more on the people rather than the action but don't worry, this is a Henry Brown book, there's still enough blood, bullets and guts to keep even the most hardcore action junkies drooling - just look at the cover art. These books have a kinda old-school "pulpy' feel to them that I really like but don't see(or hear) that much of anymore. The narrator did another outstanding job with the characters both male and female. Don't worry if you haven't read "Hell and Gone", this book can easily be read as a stand alone. Assume book overall!

    Publisher's Summary:
I don't know why you came back to Liberty, Ms. McCall, but little towns have long memories. People don't forget. You'd be wise to keep that in mind.
Ten years ago, Kat McCall left her home town in Louisiana after being accused of murdering her sister. Now, despite the fact there are those in the town who are still convinced of her guilt, she has returned, determined to unearth the real killer. With the help of police officer Luke Tanner, Kat starts to get to the truth about who really killed her sister, but there are plenty of people who don't like her digging up secrets from the past....
Utterly gripping and compulsively readable, Don't Look Back is the sensational new thriller from internationally best-selling author Erica Spindler.
    Members Reviews:
    Predictable
Predictable formulaic plot with unsympathetic characters and cringe-worthy dialogue. But the worst thing is the narration. The bad Louisiana accent and inflexions in tone made the listening, at times, unbearable. This is not a compelling thriller, its bad chicklit presented in an amateur way.
    Who really did it?
A young girl is charged in the eyes of her town, of killing her big sister, but she has always plead innocent. Ten years on she is back in town trying to build a future but the townsfolk aren't having any of it.
This would have got four stars but the narrator really bugged me in that whenever she spoke as the supposedly guilty girl, she ended every sentence with a querying intonation despite it not being a question. Picky, maybe, but just you listen to it and you'll see what I mean!
    Who Shouldn't Look Back?
What about Antonia Beamishs performance did you like?
The reading by Antonia Beamish was excellent.
    Any additional comments?
I enjoyed this book. It was quite a light listen.

    Dark turn
This book took a dark turn that I did not expect but for that I loved it a little bit more. But I don't think I could read it again because of that also.
A New Love Story: Chapter One
Would you listen to The Woman He Loved Before again? Why?
No, no need to because the book was so well written, I will always remember it.
What did you like best about this story?
Jack and Libby were able to finally bond.
Have you listened to any of Adjoa Andohs other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. And each book has been powerful narrated. Adjoa Andoh is AWESOME with an incredible voice. Maybe John Grisham should have hired her vs. the fool he used for Gray Mountain. I love Grisham, but could not download (yet) Gray Mountain because I cannot tolerate the voice of the narrator. :(
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    Where do I start?
Yes, Jack's entire life and evolution; the diaries; Libby, Jack's mother strength and class, and wicked Hector / Ceasar.
    Any additional comments?
By FAR... Incredibly awesome. I've listened to (and read) many books this year; the best ones by far were "I Wonder as I Wander" (Langston Hughes) and this one. Takes a great mind to develop and display such a moving and well written book. It was great!
    Ingrossing!
After reading the other book by this author that was new to me I immediatly looked for more here on Audible and found this book. I loved it as much as the other - I like that this auther chooses not to make things easy for her characters and just in life - things don't always end happy. Again, it has some hard subject matter and anyone adverse to drugs, violence, and just plain harsh living might not like it all that much - I however LOVED IT as much as the first one - sad Audible doesn't have all her books on here.

    Title: The Land of Mist

    Language: English
    Release date: 05-02-13
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 9 votes
    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense
    Publisher's Summary:
The Land of Mist is a novel written by Arthur Conan Doyle in 1926. Although this is a Professor Challenger story, it centres more on his daughter Enid and her colleague. Heavily influenced by Doyles growing belief in Spiritualism after the death of his son, brother, and two nephews in World War I, the book focuses on Edward Malones at first professional, and later personal interest in Spiritualism. There is a suggestion in chapter two that the deaths of ten million young men in World War I was by punishment by the Central Intelligence for humanitys laughing at the alleged evidence for life after death.
George Edward Challenger, better known as Professor Challenger, is a fictional character in a series of science fiction stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Unlike Conan Doyles laid-back, analytic character, Sherlock Holmes, Professor Challenger is an aggressive, dominating figure.
Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle, DL (1859-1930) was a Scottish author. He is most noted for his stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes, which are generally considered a major innovation in the field of crime fiction, and for the adventures of Professor Challenger. He was a prolific writer whose other works include science fiction stories, historical novels, plays and romances, poetry, and non-fiction. His first significant work was A Study in Scarlet, which appeared in Beeton's Christmas Annual for 1887 and featured the first appearance of Sherlock Holmes, who was partially modelled after his former university professor, Joseph Bell. Other works include The Firm of Girdlestone (1890), The Captain of the Polestar (1890), The Doings of Raffles Haw (1892), Beyond the City (1892), The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1892), The Exploits of Brigadier Gerard (1896), The Great Boer War (1900), The Green Flag (1900), The Hound of the Baskervilles (1902), and The Lost World (1912).
    Editorial Reviews:
The Land of Mist is one of Arthur Conan Doyles sci-fi/fantasy Professor Challenger stories. Doyle allegedly felt confined by his most famous creation, Sherlock Holmes, whom he tried to kill off multiple times. In this story he seems to delight in allowing for the possibility of supernatural forces that Holmes analytic nature would never allow. Doyle was, in his own life, interested in spiritualism and this audiobook finds Challenger a tiring widower whose daughter has become interested in the same. British Actor Barnaby Edwards gives an engaging performance, developing distinct characters: a leonine Challenger, a charming Edward Malone, and sweet Enid. Edwards reading will draw you into the world of spiritualism with its debunkers and advocates.
    Members Reviews:
As relevant as when it was written
Where does The Land of Mist rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Quite high it was much better than I had expected.
What did you like best about this story?
This is way more than a story it is based on Arthur Conan Doyle's own life experience and on real people arguments and discussions that were taking place in society at the time. Amazingly these arguments about atheism the occult and religion continue to this day largely unchanged. Wile the settings of this this story are less relevant as the fashion for holding high society seances is almost nonexistent in todays society.

An object of desire? Or of fear?
It was stolen from a New Orleans grave - the centuries-old bust of an evil man, a demonic man. Its an object desired by collectors - and by those with wickedness in their hearts.
One day, its current owner shows up at Danni Caffertys antiques shop on Royal Street, the shop she inherited from her father. But before Danni can buy the statue, it disappears, the owner is found deadand Danni discovers that shes inherited much more than she realized. Let the Dead Sleep (Harlequin Mira)
I forgot and purchased another one of Ms. Graham's books. I didn't even finish it. Her people are bigger than life, of course, the dialogue does not flow and is very stilted. The heroine started out clueless and dense and just so naive and beautiful. Of course, the animosity between the two main characters really masks tremendous attraction that they really feel for each other. We all know how it goes from there. The story is usually boring, even the growing sexual attraction that is supposed to make you avidly turn each page just falls flat. She makes the characters too magnificent, this is not believable. I'm sorry, I just have nothing good to say about this book, follows the "formula" too closely and doesn't bother to even try to hide it. Just another romance novel though the hero just isn't a pirate!
    Voodoo thrilling in New Orleans
If you like books that deal with the occult, the supernatural you will like this book. The characters are well developed and likeable. Quinn and Cafferty start out with bad vibes between them, clashing personalities. But as they delve into the mystery surrounding a "magical, supernatural" marble bust, they grow together becoming detectives that become involved with the eerie New Orleans culture, voodoo and evil influences. The story is interesting with its many twists.
I gave it a 4 because I found it hard to believe the ease with which Cafferty became involved with solving the case. First, she questioned Quinn and his story; then, she was tagging along helping him to solve it - almost immediately. Maybe more "her thoughts explaining her reasoning" sections would have helped the reader to understand her motivation.
Overall a good read. I would recommend it.
    Enjoyable Somewhat!
First off let me say this I love HG's books. I buy them or preorder them when I can if I don't already own them.
