    Kevin Pierce?
Would you listen to Annihilation again? Why?
I really like this story, And I like Kevin but changing a narrator 3 books in is never good.
    Done with this series
If I had a dime for every time the story repeated itself in this book, I could take some meaningful time off. This book in the series actually repeated the same scene constantly. The story is being drug out, and not much of any story was told in this book.
I loved the first book, second was still interesting, but I literally cannot tolerate this series anymore, because it is like going in a circle with the occasional change here and there. I'm done.
The book series started off great...but
I was hooked after the first book but not so much by the third. After this book I won't continue the series. I really struggled to stay interested but the story had so many twists and soooo much detail at every turn. This book should have been 4 hours max. I'm out.
I won't be finishing this series
I have listened straight through up to the end of this book and I'm thinking I am no longer interested in this series.
My reason is that the storyline is convoluted, meanders and I find it difficult to stay focused while listening. The differentiation of the characters is getting very muddled. Although the descriptive language used for various characters, their emotions and motivations are good, they don't connect me with the characters and situations any longer.
I have listened on and on hoping to see some crescendo to a compelling momentum that would make we want to find out what will happen next, but the pace and storyline itself is so shallow, I find that the "payoff" at the end of each book now seems purely self serving in order to hopefully, (with little care form me now), to want to listen to the next book.
I am very selective about which readers I will listen to and Kevin Pierce is one that I like a lot, but I feel he is just not the right reader for this work. Mr. Pierce's style is like a the words of a small child when he says, "Grandpa, tell me a story?" He's great for certain types of material, but not this one. Sorry Mr. Pierce. I know you are doing your best and I don't feel it's really your fault.
One reason I started listening to this series was Ray Porter, who I always throughly enjoy listening to.

An ongoing, episodic "prose comic" from which the pictures are summoned by the magic of words, Goon Squad is set in an alternate version of modern-day Manchester. Its biggest divergence from the real city is that it - along with most other large urban centers - has a team of superheroes to protect it against unusual threats with which the conventional forces of law and order would have problems.
Goon Squad: Year One offers three action-packed volumes in a single collection:

Goon Squad, Vol. 2: Without Sin
Goon Squad, Vol. 3: Old Enemies

    Manchester's Premiere Super Team
I like the Goon Squad series and I hope to see more of it. I like the characters, I like the stories, especially the last one, and I hope Howard continues with it. My one problem is that the narrator wasn't very good when it came to the male voices in the stories. I like her Nadia, but her voices of Ian and Gilbert became grating to me. Especially Ian. I hope that the next stories have more varied narration. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes superheroes.
    Good stories but...
Excellent stories but the narrators attempt at accents is poor particularly Ian whose accent varies massively from Birmingham to Merseyside to London to Americanish, very distracting...the others accents too vary making it most odd.
    Extremely Well Written and Engrossing
    Any additional comments?
Interesting alternate reality, good plotting and likeable and distinct characters. Good narration. A good listen.

    Waste of time
I continue listening to this book hoping it would get better it didnot. I would recommend this book to the author because they need to read their own works or have a someone who knows their work read it it didn't have any solid action I fell to sleep a few times. There was no mystery to it it was like listening to a winding child. I was able to figure out every move before the move. This was why I stop listening to the Eve books. Now they have made another female character pathetic.
So boring I had to start skipping
I am a big Iris Johansen fan. Words cannot describe my let down with this book. First, the story was so incredibly boring and long and drug out. There were hardly any moments where I listened with any thing more than half-hearted attention. I finally had to start skipping to simply get to the end. The thing I was most excited about is the relationship development between Lynch and Kendra. After this book, I am convinced that the Johansen duo are anti romance. In fact, I had to download an über romance and toggle between books because I was left so unfulfilled by this story. Why must a likely romance be drug over multiple installments of a series?! It isn't even natural to get within 1 minute of sex and then suddenly realize you shouldn't until the next book. The final insult was the ending. Awful, awful ending. Throughout the book i kept thinking how completely stupid Kendra was acting. Additionally, I thought the story line was so boring, attempting to rescue this brilliant Doctor yadda, yadda. The end nicely tied the whole hot mess together to leave us hanging with two adults that can't figure out how to have a date and the future fate of another awful installment with this doctor saga...which I will not purchase.

My first zombie book, and I loved it!
I thought this book was very well written and narrated. As a truck driver I listen to a lot of books on Audible and it's really easy for me to get distracted and lose interest in a book. That was not the case for this book. It has a good story line, likable characters, and all the hardcore zombie action you could want. I will definitely be buying the next installment as soon as it comes out.
    Still a Rush
I read this series and listening to it is even better. LT Lisa Reynolds has found herself in the middle of a full blown Zombie Apocalypse and it is up to her to fight not only to live but to bring the people of Hot Springs together, joining forces with them in an attempt to survive. She has help of course and it is the core group that will bring them together. She along with Tonka, the police dog, Skittle Pop, a drug dealer she allowed to live and Art Benson, a police sgt that is one of the few survivors of the department. Together, they will try to stand united against the hordes of undead, bring some semblance of order and take back the city. She becomes the driving force for unity giving they living a reason to not only fight back but to survive among a world they no longer recognize. Unfortunately for Lisa, one man has set his sights on her. The Skinner, a notorious serial killer whose taste for human flesh is as strong as those of the undead. The story line is strong, the characters are strong each with their own stories of loss and survival. This is one of the better Z Poc series out there. And let's not forget the narrator, he was excellent in his oration not giving over to strange voices of male and female characters. Sometimes, reading a story without the need to change the tone or tenor from male to female is good, he does a wonderful job. Highly recommend not only reading it, but listening to it.
    good book bad reader.
The book could have been much more enjoyable if it was read by someone else. The reader should be reading history books not zombie books..
    bad narrator
couldn't finish the book. the narrator was a bad pick for this. maybe he'd be better for poetry not a zombie thriller
    outstanding
great zombie story sadly after 2 books your really left hanging with what's next to the cast

    not a good story
the story is very slow and it's hard to keep hooked to it. I tried to finish it, even though each chapter is about 12 minutes, it's very hard to keep a vivid story.
Great for YA readers, plus readers of all ages
    Any additional comments?
Though well suited for a young adult audience, the book makes for a thrilling experience for readers of all ages. Action, intrigue, a mystery that kept me guessing right through the last chapter... it really had it all. Then add gigantic rampaging monsters, robo-mech weapon suites, and tons of futuristic tech? What's not to love? My only regret was not finding another book in the series immediately available. I can't wait to read what happens next.
needs more books, one and done is bad.
see title. not used to this review writing sorry. great story though just now need more!
    short!
engaging but short, can't wait for the next one to come out, but now I can see why was it incorporated into Legion
    Masterfully written! Excellent performance!
I absolutely love this book. Here's another example of this writers brilliance. I was blown away how he use science and teens and to paint an amazing picture of how we may someday join people in battle to make great warriors. Having a base, support and a point. Are all things that can be applied to all areas of our lives.
I listen to the whole book in 3 days. It enraptured me and I couldn't turn it off. I can't wait for the next installment Jeremy!

    Go fetch!
The conclusion to the story started in the first two books is far fetched to say the least. Incoherent and diffuse storytelling, leaving me far from engaged. I feel cheated to have such a cheap conclusion to a trilogy that seemed worth my time.
And what does the title even have to do with the book? It has no relevance or anchor. It is like Joe felt like he had to complete the trilogy for trilogies sake, not because he had a story to finish.
To compound the disappointment the narrator fails to read punctuations right, ending sentences at commas with downward inflection, then reading the second part of the sentence as sort of an afterthought. I can not understand why he would do that. Did not the writer compose his sentences to flow in a certain way? Does the narrator not understand what the function of punctuations is? Highly unprofessional.
Besides that he sucks at voices in dialogue. Often leaving me guessing as to who is speaking, not even sure of the sex of the character.
His voice might have a good tone but he has not mastered narration at all.
    Meh..
Very disappointing. No relation to Forever War
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
This is a VERY slow and "stupid" book. None of the events (except for the opening setting) make sense. Even though the book continues the story of same characters, it is a HIGH contrast to Forever War. There is NO ACTION. Whole book is set around boring family relations / human colony community relations. The ending makes no sense at all. It seem that the author wanted a cashout / ride to success solely on the coattails of Forever War.
Would you ever listen to anything by Joe Haldeman again?
Not ever going to listen to anything by Joe Haldeman again if i have to pay for it. There too many way better books already lined up for me.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Peter Berkrot?
Narrator doesn't make a difference because i couldn't wait for the book to finish. I had to endure it because i had paid for it.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
My reaction was of a complete let down and disappointment.
    Any additional comments?
    Seriously, don't bother with it.
    This is an awful reading.
The book would be better with a decent narrator. I adjusted the audio as much as I could and it still sounded awful.
    Simply not a good book
Starts out interesting, but the second half of the novel is - quite literally - a big case of deus ex machina. And that's probably the worst thing you can do in Sci Fi. Even worse, none of it makes any sense if you spend even a few minutes thinking about it. Overall the book reeks of Haldeman needing to cash in on the popularity of Forever War one more time.

    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Eternity's Mind is the climactic final book in Kevin J. Anderson's Saga of Shadows Trilogy, which began with the Hugo nominee The Dark Between the Stars. The Saga of Shadows, as well as its predecessor series, the internationally best-selling Saga of Seven, are among the grandest epic space operas published in this century.
Two decades after the devastating Elemental War, which nearly destroyed the cosmos, the new Confederation restored peace and profitable commerce among the peoples and worlds of the Spiral Arm. The ambitious, innovative Roamers went back to their traditional business of harvesting the vital stardrive fuel ekti from the clouds of gas giant planets, and the telepathic green priests of Theroc provided instantaneous galaxy-wide communication via their connection to the powerful and sentient worldtrees. The alien Ildiran Empire rebuilt their grand Prism Palace under the light of their seven suns, and their Mage-Imperator declared a new age of expansion and discovery.
But peace was not to last. The malevolent Klikiss robots soon found an ally in the ancient and near-omnipotent Shana Rei, destructive creatures who are the personification of darkness and chaos, awakened after millennia of slumber to destroy all sentient life in the universe. The Confederation and the Ildiran Empire fought in every way possible, but the Spiral Arm itself seemed doomed.
All across the transportal network, space is tearing apart, and the links between the gateways are breaking down, the fabric of space unraveling. The worldtrees are dying, entire planets are englobed in impenetrable black barriers erected by the Shana Rei, and the murderous taint has infiltrated the Ildiran race as well as Mage-Imperator Jora'h himself.
Desperate for stardrive fuel to power the military and all space travel, the industrialist Lee Iswander has been extracting ekti - the blood of the cosmos - from mysterious giant nodules found floating in empty space, draining these "bloaters" dry by the thousands. But in doing so, is he weakening the only ally that all of civilization may have against the Shana Rei?
A breathtakingly large canvas with a huge cast of characters, Eternity's Mind is the grand finale of a story as complex as any science fiction epic you will ever read.
    Members Reviews:
Not great but a good end to the trilogy
Even in the end I could feel little empathy toward the "bloaters". Engineering a name change would have helped; after all, look at the effect renaming "jungles" to "rain forests" had done. Sarcasm aside, I found the whole "Mind of the universe" concept more than a little over the top; this even after I had come to terms with the Shana Rei sentient and sapient entropy cloud.
Still, with the vast number of characters, Kevin did an excellent job of maintaining their mini-story arcs through the end and spending time to bring a sense of finality to each of the significant characters. Strangely, while accepting that Londa (Lee Iswander's wife) was a very minor character, I found myself wanting her future to have been finalized.
As I've come to expect, Mark Boyett's performance was excellent.

    DEHYDRATED MARINE
HE WAS A GUY, AFTER ALL
I am going to have to admit that I thought I was getting book one in this sale. This is actually book 2, which is obvious when you start listening. I never could get into this. I felt that most of the jokes fell flat, their was too much detail and it was a bit sophomoric even for me. The narrator was so monotone, that all I heard was blah blah blah, nice butt, blah blah blah, I am seventeen, blah blah blah, why are her nipples hard? There are long periods, in which the conversation is very boring, numbering shuttles, deciding who rides in them and several logistic items, I don't care about. My mind would wonder and than I would realize that aliens are attacking and I would wonder how long have they been attacking and than I would think, I really don't care. After one attack the marines are picking up body parts of fellow marines and making jokes about it. It was in really bad taste, I thought.
One of the best series I have read.
I love this series because the MC doesn't understand the trials he goes through. I think it funny that he doesn't see himself in as a leader but acts like it. He goes and learns what it takes to make those that follow you respect and follow you.
    Puerile
Full of details, no content. Aimed at teenagers judging from the hopeless stereotypes and focus on sexual attraction.
Reader does not help, whiny female voices and oblivious to pronounciation of military rank abbreviations, e.g. 1. Lt = First lieutenant, not 'One L T'.
    Cannot recommend.
    The adventure continues
Our hero faces challenges and stands up for right while fighting alongside Marines against wrongdoers. In the meantime the main character faces challenges and changes in his own body that causes him to question his own sanity.
Interesting and unexpected turns in the storyline keep the listeners attention with the aid of an exceptional reader. I'm looking forward to the next installment.
It was better than I thought.
It took about 12 to 15 chapters for the story to get going. Until then it's like listening to a guy play with his GI Joes.
It definitely an adult book which is ok, I just didn't expect it at first.
Once the story gets going it's pretty good.
The ending felt a little rushed, like he wasn't sure how to end it, or couldn't come up with a moral for the story.

    Publisher's Summary:
Nathan has been a prepper all his life - but just how prepared can one man be when faced with a 2,000-mile walk through hell itself?
In the second installment of Thomas A. Watson's explosive prepper classic, the long-predicted Coronal Mass Ejection has arrived, destroying civilization. Nathan Owens has been prepping for a disaster like this for years.
But when it occurs, he is far from his family and his refuge. He has to pull together a team of young survivalists and, as he reluctantly leads them across the hellscape of what was once the United States, Nathan has to ask himself - what else is he willing to do for them?
In the midst of this treacherous journey, Nathan discovers that crucial information has been withheld from the public - and maybe Armageddon wasn't an accident of nature after all. But how can he prove it - before it's too late?

    Another great addition
Thomas has a master's story teller ability. His stories draw a reader in and don't let go until the end. Then leaves one searching for more. Love his stories. Recommended
    Great continuation of the story
I like the continual growth of the story and the characters.
I have the books on audio and have listen to them several times and will continue to listen to them getting something different out of them every time I listen. Thanks
    Great read!
Very detailed and decriptive. The interaction between characters is nice and almost believeable. On my way to book three.
    Much better than the First.
The narrator was much better. I am looking forward to seeing if Nathan can make it home with out losing anyone. The first book was good. This one will make you want more.
    Enjoyed the book!
This is one of the best series available on Audible so don't wait get it! I cant wait to here more from Thomas A Watson. Chris Abernathy is a excellent reader and I will be looking for more of his books.
