    Publisher's Summary:
Book 20 in the multiple New York Times best-selling Ring of Fire series.
When the diplomatic embassy from the United States of Europe was freed from the Tower of London during the Baltic War, most of its members returned to the continent. But some remained behind in Britain, including notorious enemy to the crown Oliver Cromwell. Now, the hunt for Cromwell is on, with King Charles himself demanding Cromwell's head.
When the diplomatic embassy from the United States of Europe was freed from the Tower of London during the Baltic War, most of its members returned to the continent. But some remained behind in Britain: Oliver Cromwell and a few companions, including the sharpshooter Julie Sims, her Scot husband Alex Mackay, and Cromwell's Irish-American self-appointed watchdog, Darryl McCarthy. Soon, the hunt is on for the most notorious rebel in English history, with King Charles himself demanding Cromwell's head.
The new chief minister Richard Boyle, Earl of Cork, brings over from Ireland a notorious crew of cutthroats led by the man called Finnegan to track down and capture the escapees from the Tower. The hunt passes through England and into Scotland, where the conflict between Cromwell and his companions and their would-be captors becomes embroiled in Scotland's politics, which are every bit as savage and ruthless as Finnegan and his men.
To make things still more conflicted and confused, the time Darryl McCarthy spends fighting alongside Cromwell forces him against his will to admire and respect - and even like - the man, despite Cromwell's demonic reputation among all self-respecting Irish nationalist families like Darryl's own. It's a Gordian knot anywhere you look - until Julie Sims brings out her rifle. Now it's the turn of Scot partisans and English lords and Irish toughs to learn the lesson already learned on the continent: A safe distance isn't what you think it is. Not after the American angel of death spreads her wings.

    Heavy on the Politics
Parcel moves the Ring of Fire universe forward admirably, but its a bit dense on political intrigue and its heavily dependent on dialogue. George Guidall provides his usual impeccable narration.
    Another winner
It's always a pleasure to dive into the 1632 universe and the narration is awesome in this book.
A long overdue story in the 1632 Saga
A long overdue part in the 1632 Universe. But the saga needs to progress soon.

    EXCELLENT!
If you could sum up 1635: The Eastern Front in three words, what would they be?
A -way into the book, I was almost sure I'd wasted a credit; but I'm sure happy I stayed with it. This book is a point of inflection for the series, and really want to hear what happens next! The stage changes so much that I found myself wondering, " How did I get here? Did I miss something?" Upon reviewing the story-line I realized that I missed a lot!.Be warned, if you need a book that wraps everything up with a tight ending....this ain't it! But the author does an excellent of setting up a logical new path forward.

    A very good start..
What made the experience of listening to Cosega Search the most enjoyable?
The narrator Danny Campbell did a great job in keeping the story going. Story itself was very slow to start but once it get going it was very good.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Cosega Search?
I don't think one moment stands out but the story does have a lot of promise. With an ancient secret involving the Catholic church, an alien race that existed before humanity and a conspiracy at the very top of US government.
What about Danny Campbells performance did you like?
Well narrated and he was able to give every character their own voice. Like I mentioned before, the story start slow and Mr. Campbell kept me from turning the story off.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, once the story picked up the story was very fast pace.
    Any additional comments?
This would have easily been a 5 star overall but because of how the story was so abruptly ended that it left me wondering if I missed something. I went back and listened to the last 10 minute of the story again and nope didn't miss anything, it's just a HUGE cliff hanger.
This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.
    worth reading
I found the story interesting and the premise intriguing. However some of the some of the passages would best be omitted as redundant.
    Interesting premise
I'm not sure where we're going from here. Not sure that I'm going to go. Doesn't move quickly. Interesting characters but didn't feel as if I got to know them before they were killed off.
Corsega Search is a somewhat unbelievable story that convinces you it is true
I loved the character development. I could visually see the main characters and also keep track of the bit players. The plot was mysterious and slowly revealed itself chapter by chapter. I was only disappointed that there were two more books to apparently tell me the whole story.
Another Author who doesn't know how to end a story
What disappointed you about Cosega Search?
A character in the story says all stories have a beginning, middle and end but then this author, in the middle of the story says The End. I'm guessing to get reader/listeners to buy the next book, Not Happening!
What was most disappointing about Brandt Leggs story?
    No finish to the story!
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Cosega Search?
I would require the author finish this story.
    Any additional comments?
I certainly won't buy any more of this author's books.

    Dated, but still fun.
Overall, a fun romp across a dangerous alien world. Noticeably sexiest at times, but considering the times Jack Vance can be forgiven. Nowadays, you can see how several modern Sci-fi stories, such as Stargate and Predator, were influenced by this. The voice acting gets very annoying at times, but don't let that stop you if you're curious. Adam Reith's trek across Tschai and through nefarious alien plots is a damn good journey.
OMG! I didn't want the story to end! Wonderful!
Would you listen to Planet of Adventure again? Why?
    Sure!
What about Elijah Alexanders performance did you like?
Excellent performance! Really brought the characters to life, thank YOU Elijah!
    Any additional comments?
I was really bummed when the story ended. Was a classic adventure of a close knit team of friends who started out as strangers. The escapades and challenges they got into where spell binding and I hated leaving the car and turning the story off! A MUST READ/LISTEN!
    Literary Pulp Sci-fi.
I consider this book to be a guilty pleasure book. There isn't any deep intellectual analysis or the like, but it is escapist fun.
Note: this is an omnibus edition of "The City of the Chasch," "The Servants of the Wankh," "The Dirdir" and "The Pnume." Those 4 books are available separately on Audible, but really, this is one novel spread out over 4 books.
The story is pulp sci-fi in terms of plot (space explorer crash lands on strange planet, finds companions and has adventures while trying to get home), but Jack Vance built a varied, interesting and complex world with complex, interesting and varied alien species that are believably dangerous. Also, Vance's writing was more complex and literary than most pulp sci-fi of its class.
I very much enjoyed these books in print and I found the Audible edition to be a good way to enjoy them again.
The narration was good overall...it didn't add much but it definitely didn't hurt the book, either.
    this is an amazing journey
Which character as performed by Elijah Alexander was your favorite?
All of them. I give life to them. Naturally Anacho stands a bit higher because he is so well interpreted
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes absolutely. This is a book that has you traveling across an entire planet to find your way home again.
    Any additional comments?
Tschai is apart. It hasn't aged and it remains a delight. The audiobook is extremely good to make it alive. Great job.
    Great Narration!
    One of my favorite stories.

Though the H'san gave up fighting long ago, the reappearance of their lost weapons would no doubt lead to a devastating war. It's up to Torin Kerr and her team to fix this problem before it explodes. But the more Torin learns about the relationship between the Elder and Younger races, the more she fears war might be unavoidable.

    Tanya Huff always delivers
    Any additional comments?
The confederation/valor series has always been a comfort listen of mine (which is weird since it has its fair share of tragedy) and An Ancient Peace is a fantastic addition.
I love that these characters seem like real people (even the non-human ones) and I am massive sucker for books with competent people making smart decisions with limited data. Also space opera is wonderful when done thoughtfully and well.
If you like books by John Scalzi or Elizabeth Moon then I would highly recommend this series (but I would suggest starting a little earlier to get the maximum out of it).
Great Story, almost worth the wait, Narration is..
    Any additional comments?
I LOVE Torin Kerr (main character), and the narrator (Marguerite Gavin) is the definitive voice of Torin Kerr. I cannot imagine her sounding like anyone else. Marguerite just nails the sarcasm, pessimism, and hope that Torin filters her view of life through. She's absolutely perfect as narrator for these books, and has, thankfully, narrated the entire series.
However, for some reason, she has forgotten what Craig sounds like! She's got Binty (Mishona) down pat, so that's still good, but Wresk and the other Cray (Kray?) don't sound the same as they used to either, but their voices are less jarring than Craig's voice. She's just all but killed Craig's likable qualities from the last few books with her voice portrayal of him in this latest installment.
Another minor negative in this audio version is that Torin talks to herself a lot (privately in her head, not out loud). In past books, Marguerite Gavin was able to somehow modulate her voice so that is was pretty clear if Torin was talking out loud or just thinking it to herself. In this book, she's lost that deft touch and it was much hard to distinguish between silent thoughts and actual dialogue. That was a bit distracting on numerous occasions, but it was minor, not major.
Voices aside, this is another excellent book from Tanya Huff. I've been waiting for this book for YEARS now, and it did not disappoint. Even better is that it is listed as Book One of a new series! I am thrilled with that, but I really hope Tanya can crank them out faster than this one took. Seriously, years? Far too long. Maybe take a class from Christopher Nutall, Richard Tongue, or Ryk Brown, all of whom have probably written an entire book in the time it took me to write this one review :-)
    Into the tombs
Another adventure with Torin and her crew. Now no longer in the Military, Torin is asked to find a group of mercenaries searching for the ancient weapons of the H'san, execute them and prevent any of the weapons from leaving the burial site. A great start to a new series starring Torin and her crew. Loved it and eagerly awaiting the next book.
    Not bad
I was overjoyed that the Torin storyline continued past the Valor series.

    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
    Additional Narrators:
Some lives can be summed up in a sentence or two. Other lives are epics. In Clockwork Angels, number-one best-selling author Kevin J. Anderson and legendary Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart created a fabulous, adventurous steampunk world in a novel to accompany the smash Rush concept album of the same name.
It was a world of airships and alchemy; clockwork carnivals; pirates; lost cities; a rigid Watchmaker who controlled every aspect of life; and his nemesis, the ruthless and violent Anarchist, who wanted to destroy it all. Anderson and Peart have returned to their colourful creation to explore the places and the characters that still have a hold on their imaginations.
Marinda Peake is a woman with a quiet, perfect life in a small village; she long ago gave up on her dreams and ambitions to take care of her ailing father, an alchemist and an inventor. When he dies, he gives Marinda a mysterious inheritance: a blank book that she must fill with other people's stories - and ultimately her own.
Clockwork Lives is a steampunk Canterbury Tales and much more, as Marinda strives to change her life from a mere "sentence or two" to a true epic.
    Members Reviews:
    Better than the original?
While technically a sequel, I'd guess you say this was more of a companion piece to Clockwork Angels. In some ways it surpasses the original. Either way enjoyable. Kudos to the production team on the variety and quality of voice talent that brings the sub-stories to life. A well used credit!
    Order versus Chaos versus Freedom?
Definitely a great collection of stories. As with the first book, the authors leave you with the impression that an ordered existence can't be happy and free though. I suspect they were shooting to suggest balance but either way it doesnt marr the story lines. I definitely enjoyed reading another edition of adventure in this fanciful steam technology world.
    Filling In The Blanks
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The premise of the book is great, however, it does get a little samey after a while
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The subtle in-jokes or references to Rush songs or albums do bring a smile.
Which character as performed by the narrators was your favourite?
The Steamliner Captain, as this was probably the best tale of the book and had some direct relevance to the main character.
If this book were a film would you go see it?
Probably not - or at least without seeing a film of Clockwork Angels first!
    Any additional comments?
It's not the worst book I've listened to. These are the tales of some of the incidental characters from Clockwork Angels (a far better book). The format can grate a little, but all in all,, it's a reasonbable accompanyment
    Brilliant!
What made the experience of listening to Clockwork Lives the most enjoyable?
A really good story with excellent narration
What was one of the most memorable moments of Clockwork Lives?
There are multiple sub plots so you never knew what was coming next
Which character as performed by the narrators was your favourite?
Marinda is the main character throughout.

    Book 2 delivers the goods.
Uri Eden, the main protagonist from Book 1, has just barely made it through the hatch with Steph Kalinsky and the Col-U. As their brains wrap around the idea that in this version the Roman Empire didn't fall and became space faring, Uri begins to succumb to what he calls Freezer Burn. Apparently when you've been subjected to Cryo sleep for a large portion of your life cancers run amok when you are thawed.
Back in the Sol system Penny Kalinski, Lex Macgregor, and Beth Eden Jones Narrowly escape distaster in a Hulk-kernel ship test platform as the Chinese Hedgemony crash a bundle of kernel ships moving at near relativistic speed into Mercury. The result propels them to the Roman-Bricante-Sheen Universe without the use of a hatch. One other person is with them...Earthshine. One of the three deep core artificial intelligences. He has an agenda.
There is yet two more Universes visited in this book but I will leave those for you to discover. The story is gripping and in this form excellently told through the vocal ranges of the narrator. It did not disappoint and I'm giving it four out of five entertainment points.
    What a journey
This is a great book. i was on the edge of my seat the entire time. i can't wait until the next one!
    narrator was amazing
loved the different character voices, could always tell who was talking from voice alone before the text said who it was. if you read the first book you're going to have to read this one. the COLLU is my best friend
    big ideas but poor dialog
lots of Imagination went into the settings, the scene, the ideas. the elements of alternate history in here and that was done reasonably well. However the dialogue was really too redundant could have been shortened by a third resulting in a Tightened pace.
Not for those with short attention spans
The whole book is one very long introduction with minimal character development. Overall plot is thought provoking if boiled down to its core elements.

    Much darker than book 1.
Although this book was much darker than book 1, I went through it faster. I usually listen while on the road, but caught myself listening at the house when no one else was home. I do have mixed feelings about this series of books though. With all the soberness and pain that the main character feels, I am reluctant to listen to the next one in the series. I think I will in the future, but need a break for now.
    Best one in the series
So after binge listening to this series, Id have to pick Challengers Hope as one of the best books in the Seafort saga. Unlike the next books in this series, there are plenty of space battles and ship side fighting. It also portrays the bureaucracy that exists when corrupt people are in charge. Its enough to make you want to climb into the book to smack someone.
What got to be a little old was how Nick Seafort would have so much contempt for how some captains treated the crew but in the next breath he is acting 10 times worse than those captains. I think he may have some anger management issues.
This book is pretty good, but unfortunately the series goes downhill from here.
    An absolute stunner.......
I thought the first book was great.......this one is an absolutely stunning tale of command under crisis, a tour DE force, almost study, of a problematic command conscience I am sure many good and great command officers must deal with.
A further, fantastic meld of a great writer, narrator, and undeniable production values make this by far one of the best listens I have had the pleasure to lose sleep over..
This story deserves accolades galore, and I am almost afraid to start the next one....not currently being able to conceive how this one could be followed by a better one.....but looking forward to finding out..........
    A Veteran.......
    Neurosis expanded
Two books full of neurotic protagonist will be all I can take of this series
    ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. BEST SF SERIES!
It is absolutely awesome! I couldn't put it down. Stayed up the whole night listening. David Feintuch is a superb writer. As for Vikas Adam, he is fantastic! I am continuing with book three. There were certain parts in the book when i even cried for his heartaches and the tragedy that befall his wife and child. I wanted so much for him to have some happiness. I hope Mr Feintuch will write some pleasures for Captain Seafort. He can be rather stern at times but he was brought up that way and also his discipline in the navy is what is expected of him. It is rather hard for him to change. All in all I admire his character and personality. I am so... glad I found this series.

    Amazing...
    First Impressions
-- slow to pick up, a lot of dialogue and story. It rewards you in the end with an amazing timeline of events that would make you scream "More!!!"
    Narrator
-- things started out as weird. I thought that he was a lousy narrator, but in the end it was very satisfying.
    Final thoughts
-- this is the type of book that would make you think and put yourself into the eyes of the characters. It forces you to think of things in a different way. It had me crying on some of the scenes... a lot of times. (Ive never cried for a sci fi book ever)
One of my favorite sci-fi book series
I am so excited to find that Audible finally brought this series to audio (granted it was over a year ago but somehow I had missed it until recent)!
Feintuch's Nick Seafort and his coming of age story was inspirational to me as a young man as Seafort is his harshest and most severe own self-critic, not unlike my own striving for perfection in my younger days. I still find the story riveting to this day (almost 20 years after first reading it) but I look upon the main character with a little more pity, a lot more forgiveness, and even more sympathy now. It's every sci-fi loving kid's dream to be a Captain of this own ship and following the tragic early events of this book, it's easy to wish you were in Nick Seafort's shoes!
The story varies in pace throughout and you are often left wondering where Nick's motivation comes from (you learn it wholeheartedly by the end of the book). The supporting characters are excellently portrayed by the author, although given to you through the first person narrator, you question the validity of some of it due to perspective.
I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of any of Jack Campbell's novels.
The narrator does an excellent job with the voices of all the characters and I hope he continues reading the rest of the series!
Can a midshipsman horror of being captian be real?

This is a solid old fashioned space opera. The characters engaging though dark at times. Action isn't nrisk but well formed. The events are well written and full almost as written as a stand alone book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Midshipman's Hope?
It could have been reprograming the ships computer Darla but no.

    Publisher's Summary:
What does it mean to be human? What if the price of saving humanity is giving up your own?
The year is 2322, and we stand upon the precipice of extinction.
The invading Metigen armada has decimated the eastern third of settled space in a matter of days, leaving tens of millions dead. Determined to save the heart of human civilization, Earth and Seneca at last put aside their differences to face the threat together. But even this may not be enough to stop the fleet of colossal dreadnoughts inhabited by advanced AIs.
Alex Solovy and Caleb Marano hold the key to defeating the invaders, for they know the secrets the aliens wage war to protect. Now they face a deadly gauntlet of relentless alien hunters and assassins sent to kill them before they can unleash a potent new weapon. They will risk everything in a bid to save their families, their loved ones, the entire human race - even if it means they can't save each other.
The lines blur between man and machine, ally and enemy, and soldier and civilian. In a final stand against an ancient, powerful foe intent on eradicating it from the universe, humanity comes face to face with its destiny.
When faced with its greatest challenge, will humanity rise to triumph or fall to ruin?
Aurora Rising is an epic tale of galaxy-spanning adventure, of the thrill of discovery and the unquenchable desire to reach ever farther into the unknown. It's a tale of humanity at its best and worst, of love and loss, of fear and heroism. It's the story of a woman who sought the stars and found more than anyone imagined possible.

A great conclusion to the Aurora rising trilogy
G.S. Jennsen is fast becoming my favourite guilty pleasure. Her books are just so much fun to read.
One criticism I have is that with the exception of one single planet, almost everything seems to be named after the Greco-Roman culture. It seems very unlikely that our future should draw so heavily on simply one cultural tradition.
On the other hand, the reason I've enjoying these books is because they have a balance of action to thought, technobabble or emotions, plot to character development. It's a fun light read and so that criticism, while valid, doesn't really effect my enjoyment of the books that much.
    Superb
While I was initially put off by the many plot lines of book one, it was mote than well worth it to get through my discomfort, expand my brain and go for the brainily executed ride that this trilogy provides!
