    Publisher's Summary:
Polly Parrett finds herself in the midst of another murder mystery. This time it involves two little girls, a wicked stepmother, and a missing father. Oh, and Christmas is almost here.
It all begins with a mysterious gift box thats left on Polly's doorstep. Along the way she encounters problems with her pet-sitting customers and her arch nemesis, Britney Harris, who has her eye on Polly's boyfriend Tyler. An Open House is planned at Welcome Home, the residential home Polly and her mom have created to provide a safe haven for homeless military veterans and their pets. It's all go in Polly's world, but with a killer on the loose and two children in need of her help, she'll do anything she can to keep everyone safe.
Book 2 of the Polly Parrett Pet-Sitter series.
    Members Reviews:
    Polly's voice!
Repeated phrases get annoying but the story is good. What isn't is the voice used when Polly is, I think, supposed to be showing concern. It sounds like baby talk for heavens sake and instead of genuine concern, she just plain sounds phone. Please fix. I've already read the third one and this is common to all three books.
    Charming, Quick Cozy Mystery
Polly Parrett has a lovely business as a pet-sitter in Mallowapple, Maine. As Christmas draws near she is busy taking care of pets and helping her mother plan an Open House for their new venture, Welcome Home, a residential home created as a safe haven for homeless military veterans and their pets.
Polly is only a little surprised to find a rescue kitten left on her doorstep. The greater surprise is the expensive bracelet around the kittens neck. The new kitten is quickly adopted by one of Pollys dogs (which is adorable).
Polly brings the kitten to her mother at Welcome Home where two young girls have just been discovered sheltering in the barn. The girls' father is away in the service while they have been left with their mean stepmother. When a murder is reported, Polly and her lawyer boyfriend, Tyler, begin to investigate the mystery of the necklace, the runaway children and the murder.
This is light and fun listening with wonderful pets to share in the warmth of the holiday season. I loved the animals and the concept of the shelter for the vets with pets. The mystery is fully developed for a short work. Polly is a lively, likable character and I am sure I would enjoy more of her adventures.
This is a nice cozy mystery for all ages. I especially recommend it to cozy fans who like animals. It may be set at Christmas time but it is a warm story for any time of year.
Audio Notes: Jennifer Fournier does a charming job with the narration. It is light and easy and brings appropriate emotions to the listener. The audio added to my enjoyment of the story.
I received this title for an honest review. My rating: 4.25.
    Another fun cozy mystery
Liz Dodwell's characters are such fun and quirky that you instantly love them and their quirkiness. I love that the setting of the book is at Christmas time and that Its about kittens because I love both! Jennifer Fournier does such a good job narrating these fun characters and makes listening enjoyable. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves cozy mysteries and animals.

When Myrtle Clover and her friend Miles attend a play in their small town, there's a full house on opening night. It's clear to Myrtle that one of the actresses is a stage hog who loves stealing the spotlight. Nandina Marshall certainly does upstage everyone - when her murder forces an unexpected intermission. Can Myrtle and Miles discover who was behind her final curtain call before murder makes an encore?
    Critic Reviews:
"Narrator Judy Blue so aptly portrays each character in this Myrtle Clover mystery that it's difficult to select a favoriteClover's marvelous wit will sweep listeners along as she questions witnesses at the theater, funerals, and anywhere else she can corral them. Blue expertly presents both text and dialogue, outdoing herself with the actors' outsized egos and inability to stop acting, no matter what." (AudioFile, Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award)

    You got a love Myrtle
This is a terrific book in a terrific series. It is so funny and the plot keeps you guessing. I highly recommend it.
    Life after 80
Myrtle proves yet again that age is nothing but a number as she solves another murder. I really enjoyed listening to this book. It was funny and full of twists and turns to keep the reader off balance. I love Wanda's role in this story. She is becoming my favorite character next to myrtle. Cozy mystery lovers have to listen or read this series.
    Cute story
Note: In exchange for an unbiased review, the author, publisher, and/or narrator were kind enough to provide an audio version of this book at no charge via AudiobookBlast.
This is apparently the 9th book in the series but it was my first exposure to Myrtle Clover and her world. Cozy mysteries aren't generally my favorite genre, but I found this to be rather charming. I also liked that it's apparently based out of my home state, which was pretty cool. The narrator did a good job of distinguishing the characters and bring Myrtle's world to life. If you're a fan of cozy mysteries, you should like this series.
Makes one look forward to getting old
I love mysteries with elderly people as the 'investigator(s).' This book does not disappoint nor does the narration. Great voice. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but I think Judy Blue did a remarkable job carrying this story. The story and the mystery are ok, but the characters make it really good. I wonder if this is a series? I hope so. Good humor. Love that Myrtle!
I was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 9 book in the Myrtle Clover Cozy mystery series. If you liked the first 8 books you might enjoy this one as well. It just was not my cup of tea as it was way too folksy in myrtle forgetting things and playing up the Im just an old lady, when she was more mentally with it then not.
The story line moved along nicely for a cozy mystery. The narration was done well and the different people were well portrayed.

Autumn has come to Cedar County. It's harvest time. The trees and vines in the orchards and vineyards are heavy with ripening fruit. For the tourists flocking to the tasting rooms of the region's vineyards, the landscapes and seascapes provide an elaborate tapestry of rich colors and textures.
However, there is one discordant note in this pastoral splendor: The crumpled body of an international wine maven has been discovered in a steeply terraced vineyard of merlot grapes. As Sheriff Ray Elkins quickly discovers, the roots of this crime run from the legendary chateaus of Burgundy to the exclusive watering holes of Chinese billionaires.

Ray Elkins takes a wine tour
I really enjoyed this installment of the Sheriff's adventures. I think it's one of Stander's best efforts to date, capturing a good portion of the flavor of the northern Michigan winter country while continuing the evolution of Ray's relationships with the characters in Cedar county, especially the women in his life. I found the narration a touch stilted, but it didn't detract from the experience and I'm looking forward to the next installments.

The Crossing is a book by long-time renowned author Michael Connelly and is the 22nd installment in the Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch series. In this novel, Bosch teams up again, albeit unwillingly, with formidable defense lawyer Mickey Haller to find out the truth about the mystery surrounding the brutal murder of a famous West Hollywood resident.
It is a departure from the normal Bosch tales since Harry is now retired from the LAPD, and instead of working to put criminals behind bars, he is now actively trying to keep one from conviction.

Can Joe stop the murderous rampage of this silver-tongued killer, or will he become the next victim?
    Members Reviews:
Joe and Edison take on a Serial Killer! Turf War!
What made the experience of listening to The Chemistry of Death the most enjoyable?
Joe Tesla, Edison, Vivian Torres. The tunnels beneath Manhatten and the almost self sufficient "mansion" in which Joe lives and works
Who was your favorite character and why?
Joe as Male Lead. Vivian Torres as strong Female. And Edison as a kind of Robin, Mr. Spock and Lassie rolled into one great sidekick. Joe and the other characters are almost (not quite) supporting actors!
What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Jeffrey is an excellent choice to bring these stories (the Joe Tesla Series) to life on the Audible Editions. Again, clear, easily understood, easy on my old tired ears!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Joe and Edison pitted against the serial killer who also claims the subterranean reaches that Tesla clings to for his sanity. I felt the anxiety that the main character felt, the fear and confusion of the murdered victims. The sinister aspects of the Killer AKA Ziggy. Who is this killer? And what is his connection with Joe Tesla?
    Any additional comments?
Each book in this series by Rebecca Cantrell keeps getting better and better. I understand a Book Four will be out soon. Can't wait!
This audiobook was provided by the author at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review Thanks so much, Rebecca!
My First Tesla Book but Not My Last!
Would you consider the audio edition of The Chemistry of Death to be better than the print version?
I have only heard the audio version but thought it was well done. I have not read the print version.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked Joe Tesla even with his "flaws" it makes him a some what vulnerable hero which is a nice change from the indestructible super hero's that grace many books now a days.
What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I have listened to quite a few books with Jeffrey Kafer as of late and never get tired of hearing his voice. He does characters quite well and is never garbled or hard to understand.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The ending, I don't know if there were hints in the other Tesla books but I really didn't figure out who the bad guy was tell almost the very end.

As it turns out, all she inherits from Alfie is a big pile of debt. Pretty soon Lola and her stalwart Swedish cook, Berta, are reduced to hiding out in the secret love nest Alfie kept in New York City. But when rent comes due, Lola and Berta have no choice but to accept an offer made by one of Alfie's girls on the side at his funeral: In exchange for a handsome sum of money, the girl wants Lola to retrieve a mysterious reel of film for her. It sounds like an easy enough way to earn the rent money. But Lola and Berta realize they're in way over their heads when, before they can retrieve it, the man currently in possession of the film reel is murdered, and the reel disappears. On a quest to retrieve the reel and solve the murder before the killer comes after them next, Lola and Berta find themselves navigating one wacky situation after another in high style and low company. Charming, witty, often laugh-out-loud funny, Maia Chance's Come Hell or Highball introduces a sparkling new voice in crime fiction.
