    Critic Reviews:
"A police procedural that delights the reader with a strong sense of place. Tartan Noir at its best." (Sarah Ward, author of In Bitter Chill, on Robbing the Dead)

    Great second book
Really enjoying this series so far and I hope there will be more to come. Great story, well written and I like the way the characters are developing. Can't wait for the next one!
The young are so easy to defile.
There are no words to describe the loathing I have for people who prey on innocent children. The motions of even finding the truth are do HARD because of intense psychological trauma.

To be worthy of a four or five star rating a story should be compelling, well written and with characters that have some charisma. This book met none of these criteria.

This is the second book in the series featuring Jim Carruthers. Personally I feel this works easily as a stand alone so it isn't paramount to have read Robbing The Dead which is the first in the series before reading this one.
I absolutely loved how the story starts off with a young girl discovering the body of a man. The author makes sure to grab the readers attention right from the off and she didn't let go until the very last page.
The story line in Care To Die is very much a harrowing one. I won't go into it to much as with it not going into any great detail in the book description, I don't want to give to much away. I would rather the reader discovers it for themselves.
I like how we get more background to the main characters in this novel. Even though the story does focus mainly on the case, there was enough of Carruthers and Fletchers personal lives to really start to get a feel for them and I definitely felt a connection to the through out the story.
Care To Die is a great follow up to a strong start in a new crime series. Gripped from beginning to end, this is a definite page turner of a read. Can't wait for more in the series.
    book 2
My Rating: 4.8 out of 5 stars
This is the 2nd book in the series, the first being Robbing the Dead. We were introduced to Andie Fletcher and Jim Caruthers in book 1 and this book picks up where the 2 are picking up the pieces. Jim was demoted to DI and Andie is recovering from a miscarriage and the failure of her relationship with Mark. Both are a bit fragile but the criminals are not going to allow them an easy ride.
As the team struggles with the changed dynamics within the team an elderly man is found murdered on a nature reserve. When a second OAP is found killed with a similar MO the team struggles to find the link.
We gain further insight into the characters as they are further developed into complex realistic individuals.

    Hard to finish...
This book was not enjoyable at all.
I guessed who committed the murder from the start, the main character had no backbone and he was pretty simple-minded for someone who worked in the News. His response to his wifes murder had no depth, the narrator half whispered his every simple thought...the young woman reporters voice was high pitched and annoying....
Couldnt wait for it to be over.

    A good airplane read
A good airplane read. The premise is interesting and I'll admit that the other has pretty much nailed it in his descriptions of the power elites in Washington. I didn't buy the love story between the brother and teh cop... lust, sure; love not feelin' it.
    Excellent crime mystery
This was by far the best book written by Joel Feiss. I read it in two days. It was great
Great mystery. I liked the local flavor but would be enjoyed by any fan of this genre. Great development of characters .
This book kept me turning pages far into the night. Would like to see these characters developed even more in future books.
    Great read
Another great read. Very thought provoking. A real page turner. I hated to put it down, only wishing it was a longer book.
    Five Stars
Clever and captivating story, fast moving as Feiss's books usually are. I'll read his next one as well.

    No mystery here!
A bit of a disappointment really - hence the three stars. there is no mystery here at all, we know the villains almost as soon as the book starts. so the story is more of a thriller than a mystery. This is a pity, other books in the series have held a genuine mystery. I also began to wonder about product placement.........lots of named venues and a vivid description of a couple of locales which the tourist board would love I am sure! the story is OK but I hope the next is more mystery than thriller!
    Brighton revisited
This book was a treat to read. Coming from across the pond to visit Brighton last year helped put me right there with DI Henderson. Yes, the Queen's Hotel has a lovely seafront view. Of course this book was well written and descriptive with all the familiar characters. The plot progressed evenly without getting bogged down by political opinions. It is suspenseful and weaves a good tale without being long winded. I enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to reading the next in this series.
    Enjoy the novels
As always ,Henderson is hands on detective ,interesting personality n personal life . Enjoy the novels ,no criticism. Looking forward to more .

    Well done, but pricey
The characters, storyline, and writing style are nicely filled out. I've read a few of these, but am going to stop for awhile. I'm glad to pay for a good book, but not willing to pay paperback prices for ebooks.
    Five Stars
    love her wtiting
    I love it
I love Marlys Milhiser's humor in these books. There is a murder committed and you don't know who did it until the last chapter, but her characters are so well drawn and they usually have a droll sense of humor about the proceedings. Love her books

    Best of the bunch!!!!
So this is book five in the Ivy Nash series. I personally think this is the best one yet. Now that I've come to the end (temporarily) I will take Audible reviewer Wayne's advice and try the first of Mefford's series- Alex Troutt.
Of all of the Ivy Nash books the first and this one are the most credible. This one involves drug trafficking, organ trafficking, extortion, betrayal and perceived betrayal. There is also an example of how a good and loving parent can become the polar opposite when alcoholism replaces common sense.
Julia Farmer does an excellent job narrating.
I really don't want to give away too much of this book, it's just plain good and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

    Publisher: Owen Parr
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 9 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
New York City is being terrorized by a serial killer preying on young professional ladies.
The authorities are baffled by the murders. The first murder was thought to be a case of extreme sex gone bad, until two more victims were added to the list. The politicos, fearing a city-wide panic, have kept the murders under wraps, desperately trying to apprehend the maniacal killer before going public. NYPD's Midtown South Precinct, at their wits end, hire a private investigative team, Mancuso & O'Brian Investigations.
Hailed as "the last advocate of the victims" by the local New York media because of his Sherlock Holmes style of deduction, Joey Mancuso is a former top NYPD's Midtown South Precinct homicide detective. His brother and co-partner, Father Dominic O'Brian, is the Associate Pastor at St. Helen's Church in Brooklyn. Charged with solving these horrific murders, the brothers work out of a makeshift squad room in the back of their Irish pub set in the heart of the Financial District of Manhattan, Captain O'Brian's Irish Pub and Cigar Bar.
The killer, profiled as an unprincipled psychopath and highly narcissistic, seems to be three steps ahead of everyone. Little does Mancuso know that this killer could turn these killings into a personal affront that can threaten him and those around him.
Now in the third book of his Mancuso & O'Brian Crime Mystery series, award-winning author Owen Parr tantalizes listeners with clues and possibilities in this fast-paced novel. Don't be fooled by what you see! Like Mancuso, you'll need to observe and search beyond the obvious. Join Joey and Father O'Brian as they feverishly work out of their Irish pub to solve this case that possibly threatens the ones they love.
    Members Reviews:
Great modern detective series gets even better!
I listened to Owen Parr's first three novels and was not very impressed. Then with his 4th novel, the first in the Mancuso and O'Brian series titled A Murder on Wall Street, Parr hit upon a series concept that is pure gold. Homicide Detective Joey Mancuso and Catholic priest Father Dom O'Brian are brothers (same mother). Father O'Brian inherited an Irish pub in Manhattan from his family. Mancuso left the police department and the brothers form Mancuso-O'Brian Investigations which mostly consults for the NYC police department. So now the brothers run the bar and investigate murders.
All three novels in the Mancuso and O'Brian series easily earn 5 stars, but the second is better than the first and the third (this one) is even better than the second one. For those who like the suspense mystery genre, this series is must listen.
    Fantastic PrIvate Investigator Procedural series...
This is the third book in the Mancuso/O'Brian series. I really like the other two books but I actually think this one is the best.
In this book someone is setting up dates with women whose jobs are in or on the periphery of law enforcement. After convincing them to experiment sexually they are then raped, cut and killed. The murderer uses a red ribbon to strangle and leaves behind fibers. Joey Mancuso and Father Dominic O'Brian's PI Agency is hired by the NYPD to consult on the case.

    Publisher's Summary:
From New Zealand author Donna Malane, My Brother's Keeper is a dark and twisting mystery that leaves no stone - or page - unturned.
Diane Rowe is a missing persons expert. Ex-con Karen needs Diane's help to track down her fourteen-year-old daughter, Sunny, whom she's lost contact with while she's been in prison.
To Diane, this appears at first glance to be a simple case of a mother wanting to reunite with a beloved daughter. Tracking the girl down is easy. However, convincing her to meet her mother is no easy task. And at the back of Diane's mind is a nagging thought - that guilt and innocence aren't straightforward and nothing is quite what it seems. Does Karen really want to fix the wrongs of the past or is there something darker at play here that will take all of Diane's skills to uncover?
    Members Reviews:
MY BROTHERâS KEEPER has excellent twists yet stays on track to keep the story believable
Diane Rowe, finder of missing persons, has a new client. Thatâs a relief, because she can really use the money. The potential client, Karen Mackie, has plenty of dough, surprisingly enough, despite spending the past seven years in prison. Karen wants to hire Diane to find her daughter, Sunny. The catch here is that Karen tried to kill Sunny seven years ago, and succeeded in murdering Sunnyâs brother, Falcon. Drug use played a part back then, when she released the hand brake and let their car roll into the water. Now, ironically, she claims that she is worried about Sunnyâs safety.
Well, locating Karenâs daughter is a simple enough job. Sunny moved with her father, Justin, and his new wife to Auckland, a short plane ride away from their old home. But when Diane approaches Justin, he reacts badly to the notion of Sunny seeing her mother again. Sunny, though, has different ideas about it and ultimately cajoles him into letting her meet with Karen. Being only seven years old at the time of Falconâs death, Sunny has foggy memories of that day. Her curiosity needs satisfying. Of course, itâs not as easy as that. Justin remains skeptical, and naturally aims his bad temper at Diane for dredging up buried memories. The new wifeâs motives for her shady actions might bear looking into as well.
Caught squarely in the middle is Sunny, who doesnât know which way to turn. She has a new little brother whom she loves like she loved Falcon and fiercely protects. But just who does he need protection from? Yes, his mom can be somewhat apathetic, but his father seems to be involved in their lives. Maybe too involved? Why does Justin go ballistic every time he encounters Diane? Karen told Diane sheâs concerned that Sunny may be in danger, but she didnât spell out why. Now it may be too late.
From the beginning, Karenâs family dynamics cause all sorts of mayhem in this novel. Once Diane finds Sunny for Karen, she must sort out whose stories to believe. As she tries to unscramble the lies, she unearths secrets long hidden and the doubts begin to creep in. Was Karen truly the awful mother everyone made her out to be? The womanâs background would certainly back that up.
