Great Story. I hope to grar more audiobooks in this miami jones series. Main character is awesome?
    Worthwhile
Thoroughly enjoyable story and characters. Narrator was a perfect cast. Hope there will be many Miami Jones books to come!
    Fun Read
I really enjoyed this story. Miami is a smart assed investigator that reminded me a lot of the Virgil Flowers series. I love it when I get a bit of humor throughout a great mystery and a small dose of romance. Its the kind of book I like after finishing something deep that gets you in the feels and nothing else could compare. This is light, fun and a great diversion from the commute. The narrator was very good. The difference between characters was subtle but clear. I recently finished Bad monkey and this reminded me a bit of that too. The great disappointment of that was in the narration. The readers voice didn't match the main character and I couldn't connect with it. That was not the case with Paul Heitsch . His reading was spot on and a great story was given the extra dimension that makes an audio book jump off the page.

    Publisher's Summary:
    Heaven to Betsy
When a dead body swan-dives from a balcony into the pool at a wedding, gossip comes to a halt about disgraced paralegal and former rodeo queen Emily - whose husband left her for a woman who turns out to be a man. Enter Jack, a secretive attorney and sexy mix of cowboy and Indian. She refuses to work for him, until she learns about the disappearance of the six-year old daughter of his notorious client Sofia. Emily launches a desperate search for her. Bodies pile up in her wake across Texas and New Mexico as the walls around her own secrets begin to crumble.
    Earth to Emily
Emily only wants two little things. The first is to adopt Betsy - the girl who has stolen her heart but could be deported to Mexico at any time. The other is a second chance with her boss, Jack, a smolderingly hot and mysterious criminal defense attorney. But before Emily can dare to hope for either (or both), the obstacles between them mount: two runaway teenagers, an aging exotic dancer, and a dead trucker.
    Hell to Pay
Emily finally has her life back on track. Then client Phil Escalante's childhood buddy Dennis drops dead, face first into a penis cake at the adult novelty store. The cops charge Phil with murder right on the heels of his trial for burglarizing the Mighty is His Word Church. Emily's nemesis ADA Melinda Stafford claims a witness overheard Phil fighting with Dennis over a woman. Before he can mount a defense, Phil falls into a diabetic coma. Meanwhile Betsys ultra-religious foster parents apply to adopt her, and Jack starts acting weird and evasive. Emily feels like a calf out of a chute, pulled between the ropes of the header and the heeler, as she fights to help Phil without losing Betsy and Jack.

Romance, mystery, suspense and humor oh my!
Loved it! Emily is quite the character that seems to find trouble. As a former Amarilloion I couldn't help but laugh at all the references to Amarillo that Pamela used in these books! I really look forward to starting the next book in the series that just came out.
    Awesome!!
This was such a well written series!!
I loved everything about each story and hope more will follow !!
    Great story
I have listen to over 20 books and probably haven't written 5 or 6 reviews a book has to really hold my interest for me to write one. This series held my attention from beginning to end I found it hard to put down. The story has everything a good book needs its funny, sad, serious and heart warming it takes you to the edge many times them pulls you back. I well also look for books narrated by this person in the future as she did a great job. I get books to listen to while I am driving I found myself getting out of my truck putting on my ear phones so I could continue to listen because it's har to find a good break point.
    Sad when it ended
This stows well written and performed. It truly drew the listener into the story. I found myself working out longer because it was at such a point I didnt want to pause it. I highly recommend this for both humor and suspense.
    Summer read
Fun, silly, entertaining and happy. A feel good book with well developed characters and a well woven storyline

    Helen Grace does it again!
I am enthralled with the Helen Grace series. Nail biting to the max. The strong performance of Elizabeth Bower makes all the difference. She could read the phone book to me and I would be entranced!
Little Boy Blue (Book #5) Continuation.
What did you love best about Hide and Seek?
This was not as enjoyable as Little Boy Blue. Something is lost when Helen is not interacting with her co-workers regularly. It makes for a monotone read.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I think the most interesting thing is that Aldridge has managed to stretch this character for 6 fairly enjoyable books. I think characters have to be REALLY interesting to sustain a series. Helen's personal baggage is starting to really get old, however, and I may not continue the series after this.
Which character as performed by Elizabeth Bower was your favorite?
I really like Charlie but, as most of the leads in these books are female, after a while they all started to sound the same.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not particularly. I think they've become formulaic. They're still good but not as good as some other police procedurals.
    Any additional comments?
    N/A.
    Slightly disappointing
Having read all of this series this one was a bit far fetched and the storyline much more predictable than its predecessors. I will still purchase the next one though and look forward to a return to the usual excellent storylines and fuller characters.
    Great - but...
... not as good as the previous 5. It finished the story off nicely, but equally, not the best. However, in saying that, I still enjoyed it and I love the style of writing. It's certainly another enjoyable book my Arlidge. The narration is excellent!
    Best one yet
I have really enjoy this series and this instalment did not disappoint.
At each chapter I never really know what direction the story was going to take and the superseded was built perfectly.
Even though I love the DI Grace I think this has left things in a perfect place.
If you have read the previous books then you will really enjoy this one and if you haven't I would recommend starting from the beginning as they don't disappoint!!

    Publisher's Summary:
Yarnaholic Molly Pink has become known in Tarzana, California, for her sleuthing skills thanks to the help of her crochet group. But the latest mystery may be too much for these stitchers to unravel....
There's nothing the Tarzana Hookers love more than doing a good deed. They're so preoccupied with crocheting and selling scarves, teddy bears, and blankets to raise money for the local park that they don't even notice the brown paper bag at the end of the table - until it's too late to find its owner. Unable to resist a good mystery, they open the bag and find a note that speaks of remorse, a diary entry of the sorrow of parting, and a complicated piece of filet crochet that offers an obscure clue in pictures.
The Hookers decide to leave the detective work up to Molly, but by the time she discovers the talented crocheter's identity, the mystery person has been murdered by a box of poisoned marzipan apples. Now Molly needs the help of her fellow stitchers before the killer has time to create a deadly pattern of murder....
    Critic Reviews:
"The mystery is well developed, with lots of clues that tie in to the crochet theme." (RT Book Reviews)

3rd Book and Counting! Love these!
Love these! Keep reading friends. One book is just as good as the last... I think these books are great. I never guess "who done it", and I love the character development. I can almost 'hear' them...just as I can almost smell the aroma in the bookstore, as well as Bob's treats!
    Who dunit
Once again amateur detective, crocheter, book store manager , Molly Pink, solves the mystery of who killed fellow crocheted Mary Beth Wells.
    Loved it!
    Read it! Loved it!
    Fun read for this genre
For its genre, this is a nice read. I'm noticing more character development in this, the third book in the series. If you set aside the improbably premise that one individual person could accidentally become involved in several murder investigations, then it's a go from there.
    Four Stars
I really enjoyed reading about Molly Pink's adventures and there are great patterns and recipes at the end!!

Great story but overly dramatic delivery
Too many exhausting breathless passages for me. I found the delivery distracting. Excellent plot however- so I stayed to the end.
    Excellent
Excellent start to finish! I am a big fan of Daniel Palmer's writing and this one was a very good read with lots of twists.
    What a shame...
Would you try another book from Daniel Palmer and/or Tavia Gilbert?
    Palmer YES! Gilbert NOOOOOOO!
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
    Literally ANY other narrator.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
So breathy and melodramatic about everything. A simple statement like "He took me to McDonalds" was made with a breathlessness that made the narrator sound like she'd just finished a marathon. All male voices made the characters sound like they were idiots.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment that it probably would have been an entertaining listen if I hadn't been distracted by the bad narration.
    Any additional comments?
Someone must have told Ms. Gilbert that her breathless delivery of EVERY SINGLE LINE is "riveting". They lied! It really is just irritating and distracting. Please Tavia, just...stop it!
I ENJOYED THIS IN ONE DAY!
I couldn't stop listening! Thank goodness it was my day off and I could listen while I took care of chores. I love the main characters and how their stories intertwine. This is a sticky subject line and Daniel Palmer tackled it so well. I believe this is my first Daniel Palmer book but it definitely won't be my last. I would love to see PI Angie DeRose become a series.

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
Aunt Bessie assumes that she'll have the beach all to herself on a cold, wet, and windy March morning just after sunrise, then she stumbles (almost literally) over a dead body.
Elizabeth (Bessie) Cubbon, aged somewhere between free bus pass (60) and telegram from the Queen (100), has lived her entire adult life in a small cottage on Laxey Beach. For most of those years, she's been in the habit of taking a brisk morning walk along the beach. Dead men have never been part of the scenery before. Aunt Bessie assumes that the dead man died of natural causes, then the police find the knife in his chest. Try as she might, Bessie just can't find anything to like about the young widow that she provides tea and sympathy to in the immediate aftermath of finding the body. There isn't much to like about the rest of the victim's family either.
Aunt Bessie assumes that the police will have the case wrapped up in no time at all, then she finds a second body. Can Bessie and her friends find the killer before she ends up as the next victim?
    Members Reviews:
    Nice cozy!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Aunt Bessie has a regular life, good, healthy habits, and is a really nice lady. I liked her back story too! Made me feel like I was really getting to know her.
What does Rosalind Ashford bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Really good, interesting voices, full of character!
    Any additional comments?
Not as exciting as some other cozy mysteries in my library. BUT I really enjoyed listening due to the good narrator and the interesting characters. I liked Aunt Bessie and all her good friends and neighbors. It was actually comforting to know she would, in the end, be cared for. The "island" personality and information about the language of the island added a lot to the story. Good descriptions about scenery and setting. I am starting the second book today. I hope the others become available soon!
    Slo-o-o-o-o-o-w and plodding!
    Any additional comments?
I maintained hope the book would become more interesting - after all, this is a murder mystery. I agree 100% w/one reviewer that "Aunt Bessie is in sore need of some redeeming qualities and characteristics if she's to pass as a beloved old lady, but seemed to come up very short in that department". Bessie is nothing more than an semi-reclusive "old biddy" who sorely lacks any charm.
I didn't finish the book - I'd endured enough boredom.
    Good story
Listening to tHis audiobook was fun. It's full of memorable characters and believable situations. I think every small town has an "Aunt Bessie."

    Good
This was a very good book. I enjoyed reading it very much. I will continue reading the books in this series.
    Fabulous Series
Leslie Meier's "Lucy Stone" series are just fabulous reads! Very enjoyable and she keeps you turning the pages.
Father's Day Murder took you out of Tinker's Cove - but it never lost that Lucy Stone appeal. Great series!!!
    All in a day's work
Lucy managed to find great deals in a department store, meet new contacts at a convention, soak up the atmosphere of Boston, expose an embezzler an and solve two murders. She even managed to make it home and celebrate Father's Day with her family. Lucy is a wonderful character and I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Another great murder mystery with a twist.
I really liked the trip to Boston and the descriptions of The Commons and other places. However, the Big Dig is over, so the book is getting dated. I love Leslie Meier's work!
Always a treat of a book!
The characters are developed enough to leave spontaneity and intrigue. The story was woven prefect :) and I would recommend her books to anyone who enjoys a great series.

Jolly romp if you ignore the perps
The police K9 pair at the heart of this series are great fun. I like the light tone and humor, even tho they are investigating and (surprise) catching peeping Toms.
    A+
I love this audio book and the narrator is wonderful. This series is very addictive.
    great
another great one by kelly. Lots of action and 2 different perps to catch. Awesome narrator.
    Cookie Cutter.
What did you like best about Against the Paw? What did you like least?
The dog, of course. Bridgit, the police dog, is the only reason to listen to the series. Love the image of a hundred pount wrecking force with pink nail polish [but dogs don't use people polish as the author described!]. I disliked the errors made by the narrator (confusing the names of the two boyfriends more than once).
Would you be willing to try another book from Diane Kelly? Why or why not?
No. Unless she can develop the characters more. Only a few books into the seriers, she is cranking out books like Janet Evanovich. Not much changes from one book to another, except the names of bad guys.
Would you be willing to try another one of Coleen Marlos performances?
Mmmm....maybe. Perhaps the mistakes were the editors fault. Distracting when the characters are confused by the narrator.
Was Against the Paw worth the listening time?
    No. I was desperate.

Claire Is In Rare Form Along With Kate and Ronnie
These books are just so much fun to read. Sisters are a great team and get into more trouble than you can imagine. Kate is pregnant and her baby's father is Butch, owner of The Shaft. All three sisters work there to help out and lots of antics take place in The Shaft. The Morgan Sisters are notorious in jack Rabbit Junction and the deputy sheriff has it in for them. He can arrest them at the drop of a word by one of them, usually Kate is the one in trouble. The books is lots of fun and the narrator Lisa Larsen does a fabulous job injecting just enough sass for the sisters and grumpiness for the old men and sexiness for the young guys, Mac, Grady, and Butch, aka Valentine. Read them alll.
