Game of Fear is Eerily Believable!
Have you listened to any of Todd Haberkorns other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've never listened to Todd Haberkorn before. I thought he did a very good job narrating this book. Although he is not my favorite I would listen to him again.
    Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed this book. I don't want to spill too much but will try to tell some. So we have terrorists right here in the US kidnapping genius teenagers to hack into NSA and other govt agencies and personal pc's belonging to politicians who wield power to use at a later date for bribery and other purposes. The teens that don't cooperate end up buried in the desert somewhere. There are some minor conflicts and a romance going on in the background but these do not overshadow the main plot. I thought it was a very good and believable book, certainly worth your time and WOW, I don't know why but it was all of $4.89!!!! Great deal!
    Excellent listen!
One of the best narrators ever, and a story line that swept me up and kept me eagerly looking forward to what happened next. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, so it being as good as it was took me completely by surprise!
    Really Good
Helicopter Pilot Deb Lansing is always responsible, always on top of everything, and never leaves anyone behind. When her younger sister Ashley is suddenly missing she is ready to go after her alone. She once saved the life of Gabe Montgomrey; the youngest of the six fighting Montgomrey brothers. Gabe isn't the type of man who forgets, or the type of man who allows a woman he cares about to face trouble alone. Gabe also knows something none of his brothers know; they have a half sister.
In an interesting concept a computer game played by the smartest kids is the entry into banks, defense systems, and the personal computers of the world's most powerful people; and these kids continue to disappear in ways that do not look suspicious.

After years of hiding in the Thackery family house, Sid the skeleton is delighted to finally have his moment in the spotlight. He's starring in a high school production of Hamlet. Every day, Georgia Thackery's daughter, Madison, who's also in the play, brings in his skull, and every night, she takes him home....
Until one night when he's accidentally left at school - and hears the sounds of someone being murdered. But the next day, there's no body and no one seems to be missing.
Sid is not a numbskull - he knows what he heard. Georgia thinks he imagined it - until a week later when a body is found. Now Georgia and Sid will both need to keep their heads as they stick their necks out and play sleuth to catch the conscience of a killer....

A new meaning for 'A Skeleton in the Closet'
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I found this book well written and very funny.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Skeleton Takes a Bow?
When Sid breaks into the cabin to rescue Madison.
What about Katina Kalins performance did you like?
I gave Katina Kalin 5 stars because she does an outstanding narration, has a lovely voice and catches even the most subtle of innuendo's. A very skilled narrator.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    A Skeleton worth knowing
    Any additional comments?
A great story with lots of humor and moves along at a good pace. A real attention keeper and original concept.
    Humerous, Relaxing "Cozy"
I liked the first book in this series enough to buy the second one when it became available on Audible.
What makes this series unique for me is that one of the main characters is a skeleton named Sid who walks, talks, and has a Facebook page, but doesn't eat or breathe. The other main characters are regular human beings who accept Sid as normal part of their lives.
The plotting of the first book seemed more intricate and enjoyable to me. Even so, I like the main characters and the humor and liked this book. If there is a third book in the series I will read it.
    Well Done!
Well done! I enjoy the reader's voice, the characters, the college town, and the tall tales told.
    unexciting performance
The story was good. but I am not sure what it would take to get this narrator excited. She would be a great golf announcer. in the future, if I get any more skeleton books, I will get them on Kindle. Her voice is very pleasant but too impersonal. I don't feel the emotional ties to the characters in her performance.
    Brava
Once again I am pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this book. It has the right amount of humor, drama and action to make it a great cozy mystery. The characters are funny and engaging. The plot moves at a consistent pace with lots of plot twists. Sid is funny and the family dynamics ring true. This is a great story and a great series.

Mr. Whitlow, please change your narrator!
Robert Whitlow's writings are too important from a Christian standpoint to be tainted by a poor narrator. I liked the story, loved the message, just didn't care for the narrator. I hope the rest of his books (although I've listened to just about all of them) don't have the same story teller.
    Ok story
love this author's other books. I listened to the audio version and thought the reader to be awful!!! Worst I've ever heard. This made it hard to enjoy the book.
    Good story, horrible narrator
I enjoy all of Whitlow's novels and this is the first one I have listened to instead of read. Unfortunately, the terrible narration takes away from the story.
Good story, but the narration was awful....
The storyline was good. I love the Christian background. However, the narrator was not good at all! The was no life in his words, every voice was the same, the was no variation.
    Great story about forgiveness
This is a touching story about life's mistakes and the opportunities to make them right.

End Game - Best In the Graves series
Where does End Game rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This one would be in my top half. With about 500 books in my library so far it is hard to place any single book.
What does Basil Sands bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I really like Basil Sands reading the Jonathan Graves books, much better then the narrator who reads the first two of the series. His cadence when reading is perfect for the character.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! I listened to it in One Day!
    Any additional comments?
I think John Gilstrap did a Great job with this book. His writing style has really evolved since his first book and he has brought so much more personality to his characters. In this book Boxer has become more vocal, he reminds me now of Dox from the John Rain series by Eisler. I don't want to spoil the story for anyone but if you're on the fence about this book, get off the fence and get the book! I personally think it is the best one in the series.
    End Game
For me, this would have been a 5 star read, but for the profanity sprinkled throughout. I give the author credit that he managed to avoid the F_____ word. Other than that it was a great book. The characters were interesting and the plot moving to the very end.
Not really part of the series
I've read all of the Jonathan Graves books so I was excited when I found there was a new one in the series. While it was an OK story, with a couple of interesting characters, Jonathan Graves played just a minor part of the plot for most of the story. He really only took part in the last hour or so and that definitely wasn't up to Gilstrap's previous standards. The weak ending was disappointing. Still waiting for the next Jonathan Graves mission.
    Needs a rewrite..
What would have made End Game better?
A total rewrite of the story, with conversations flowing between characters that depicted them as professionals. There were so many sections that i had to skip over to avoid being inundated with a plethora of useless dialogue.
    Any additional comments?
I would love to get my wasted credit back
Gilstrap can write great thrillers but...
...seldom delivers. The Jonathan Grave series by John Gilstrap is good "fill in listening" when I do not have a really good suspense thriller to listen to. I listened to this book two years ago and did not write a review. I'm currently listening to Book 2 in the series (Hostage Zero).

    Publisher's Summary:
In this latest Orchard mystery, amateur sleuth Meg Corey takes a bite out of crime.... Some baby-faced chefs, fresh out of cooking school, are looking to open a restaurant in Granford. They plan on using local foods - great news for city girl banker-turned orchard owner Meg Corey. Members Reviews:
    Good listen
    Any additional comments?
This series of life in the town of Granford, Mass. is entertaining....of course the main character, Meg Corey is usually involved (somehow or another) along with Seth. I like how the story is progressing without feeling like the author is stringing it out or rushing the characters.
Another good book in the series
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Was indeed surprised by the ending, wasn't at all what I expected it to be. It is the kind of book that I like, it doesn't reveal the "villain" until the end.
    Any additional comments?
Have listened to many of Sheila Connolly books, good author, love her books. Many great series that she has.
An Apple A Day Might ....
Meg continues to slog through the learning process of running her apple orchard. She has a long task list of needs for her 200 year old Colonial house. All of them expensive. Getting involved in helping a young couple start their restaurant business in Granford is cutting into her other duties in a big way. When the Sou Chef turns up face down in a pig wallow, Meg sets out to find out who killed him and why. A bit of an over kill on the pesticides. I found that slow and a bit dull to listen too. Robin Miles to the rescue with her outstanding narration that makes even the less interesting and slow parts move along and sound more interesting then they really are.
    Great Cozy Read
What did you love best about Red Delicious Death?
I love how the relationships are growing. I also love the new people added to the story. I think the story was good it didn't end the way I thought it would. I love the relationship with Meg and Seth but also see it taking a turn. You have to get to book to find out how.
What did you like best about this story?
How everyone comes together to help with the restaurant. I also like how we are left wondering about the end of the book and wanting more.
Have you listened to any of Robin Miless other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have enjoyed her a lot.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was very relaxing to listen to this book.
    Any additional comments?
I have enjoyed this series and I recommend it to anyone who likes cozy stories.
    Entertaining
This is another good addition to the Orchard Mysteries. I thought I new the killer but was shocked at the final outcome. I don't like the narrator for this series. I think she puts emphasizes in the wrong places and sometimes her voice is to nasal. I was disappointed that the recipes were not included at the end of the book. I might get the Kindle version for the next book because of it.

    Excellent Storytelling
I really enjoyed this page turner and at times heart pounding mystery set in 1916 Oklahoma summer storm season. A tale of a bully, a destroying tornado, complicated family life and the power of unconditional love. The narration was perfect--the alternating voices worked really well and added depth and texture to the book.
This was a strong story of a rural community that pulled together and helped one another through hard times. To me, the best book in the series so far. I really hope there will be more to come. Wonderful!
--Plus at the end there are mini lessons on how to make homemade from scratch biscuits, fried green tomatoes, green beans and fatback, pork chops and pan dressing & creamed onions! A fun addition.

    love this series
My favorite so far! cant wait for the changes I suspect are coming for the characters.
    Book is great as always
Loved the book, not my favorite voice over. Too monotone at times. Hard to get used to.
    Just OK for me.
    Any additional comments?
It wasn't terrible...just too much personal interaction between the two main characters. Too perfect of a relationship if you know what I mean. The main scenes were a little bit of a letdown for me and certainly didn't create a sense of heightened suspense. The performance wasn't the best either. When she tried to speak with a man's voice, it was not very good. I'm not sure but I think Sam was a woman.
    Fabulous read!
I happily found a new writer to follow! Allison Brennan books will be looked forward too! I love her characters!
    Great story...HORRIBLE narration!!!
Would you try another book from Allison Brennan and/or Kate Udall?
I love Allison Brennan and would gladly listen to all of her books if Kate Udall did not narrate them. I find her to be an absolutely awful narrator and will not purchase ANY book she narrates ever again!
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The story was good and I enjoy the characters. It was a bit predictable but still worth it.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kate Udall?
Anyone...her voice is abrasive and she talks like she has a mouthful of spit. The way she does the different voices is annoying and it was just painful to listen to.
Was Dead Heat worth the listening time?
It was well worth the read but save yourself the time and aggravation and just buy the book and not the audiobook.

    Members Reviews:
Overall wonderful series but this one's too turgid
    Any additional comments?
Don't get me wrong - I love Inspector Gameche and have really enjoyed the series so far. Like many other readers, I feel like I know Three Pines and I want to head back there this afternoon for a good rich cup of coffee. Louise Penny has done a bang-up job of creating a place so rich and real - this isn't an easy thing to do. And I'll certainly read the next in the series.
Now to my complaints about this entry in the series: the story is startling to cross over into magical realism and is doing so with a very heavy hand. A house is hulking on the landscape, evil emanating from it like stink lines. Evil and Good are Big Players in the unfolding of the plot (capitalization intended). Gameche becomes ever-more saint-like whilst his enemies are psycho-bad, harbouring grudges based on the thinnest and most ridiculous motivation. It reminded me a bit of "The Stand" by Stephen King. I enjoy some Stephen King but it just doesn't seem a fit for Three Pines. Even the minor characters are struggling with the dark night of conscience.
One of the thing I have loved so far is the utter believability of the characters. This book starts off good and then starts wringing its hands and speaking in tongues. Here's hoping she dials it down a notch in future entries.
Excellent story, as always, but the performance?
If you could sum up The Cruellest Month in three words, what would they be?
Excellent story! Louise Penny is, as always, interesting and engaging.
What didnt you like about Adam Simss performance?
Adam Sims was not sufficiently trained in pronouncing French words, which are essential in Louise Penny's writing. Every time he pronounces the psychic reader's name, I cringe, since he pronounces it in its masculine form, and the psychic is a woman... It's the kind of error that good audio editing should have caught and corrected.
    Riveting
Addictive listening. The inhabitants of Three Pines, the inspector and his team leap out and assume a life of their own. Brilliant narration by Adam Sims as always.

    It's not just facebook.
So timely and so upsetting as we are told about how social media (newspaper lonely hearts ads) trapped women into sexual slavery in Victorian times.
At the same time Malloy and Sarah's relationship moves ahead with the potential blending of family and homes. Well paced, well told, well narrated. Looking forward to the next episode as things are set up for Malloy and Sarah to now be openly working together.

What did you love best about Murder in Murray Hill?
The characters age and progress....or at least they seem to....
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes .... the writing is very good. Nice plot development.
What about Suzanne Torens performance did you like?
I like the voices except for the little girl's voice and I thought that the male lead was Irish...I hear no hint of an accent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes...like a book you cannot put down.
    Any additional comments?
I have liked all of this line of books so far.
Not the best in the series.
I have been reading the series for several years and this is the first I've listened to on audio. The story itself was pretty good, if not quite up to par with others in the series. The narration was just OK. The female characters were performed well, but the male characters not so much. The male lead in particular. All I could see when I heard him was Kristy the Klown. Not good.
    SOOOOO not a cozy mystery!
Nothing like the other books in this series! Had I have know it was about a sexual predator...I probably would have passed on this. No clue while the author felt it was necessary for the series to turn so dark.

But when cake delivery boy Michael Healey-a former employee at Harriette's greenhouse-is found dead, the celebration takes a turn. Witchy and loving it!!
This series just keeps getting better! I very much so enjoy Heather Blake's writing talent and Coleen Marlo's narrations! Once again Darcy finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation but this time the deceased's spirit has imprinted to her and she finds she has to solve his murder to help him pass over. Also Nick, her love interest and cop is embroiled into this and there is pressure on their relationship due to it and of course Nick's co-worker Glenda...who also is in love with him....causing it. The book has it's funny twists, mystery and magic.!!! Loved it!!!
    Getting better with each book
Okay, book 3 really pulled me into the series fully. There is much to like here, even with the flaws. It is still a bit more recap than I needed. It is something I will just have to deal with in the series.
The romance takes more of a front seat here, getting more into the relationship for Darcy and Nick. We also see more of Ve and her love life. This book also introduces us to Flora and Tera crafters who are into growing things, plus illumi crafters who are intriguing with their talents. With this story there are plenty of twists and turns. Just when you think you know who the bad guy is, things take a turn. Not everything is as it seems.
All those new characters are fun to follow. I hope we see more of them as time passes in the series. The supporting cast is always a delight and I adore the familiars!! I am enchanted by this series, regardless of the slight flaws in the story telling. On the upside, things are getting better and more fan to read.
I am getting used to the quirks of narrator Coleen Marlo as well. She is not my favorite, but she has grown on my with each new book. She has a swift pace, which I enjoy. She has a terrific energy that she adds to the story and keeps things moving.
At this point I am resolved to read the rest of the series, it is just too endearing to stop.
    Just fun
As a mystery it could use a little work, the reader should be able to work the clues also. As just a fun read it works well. Characters are quirky and the story is paced well. On to the next!
    FUN &INTERESTING
I really enjoyed the storyline. I must say Coleen Marlo has improved greatly. Most characters had very distinct voices. I am getting restless with Darcy and Nick ' s relationship.
