Today I discuss the difficult process of diving into your shadow, the part or parts of yourself you avoid or are disconnected from. Things you avoid to recognize or feel at all.
This process can be extremely scary and uncomfortable by done correctly, extremely cathartic.
I hope you enjoy the episode and dive into your shadow self a little deeper.
The program is called Knowing Your Shadow by Robert Augustus Masters, PhD

Today my youngest brother, Landon, returns to Get Uncomfortable to talk with me about how weak men are being sedated by video games & pornography, the dangers of ideology & indoctrination in schools, how bad vaping is, personal responsibility, and more.
This was a fantastic conversation and I hope you enjoy it as much as we both did.

Today we discuss common characteristics of people who successfully lose weight meaning; they lose it and keep it off without massive regain.
Before that though I though it would be useful to describe Maslow's four stages of competence when learning a new skill so you understand what the process looks like when embarking on a new skill.
They are as follows:
1. Unconscious incompetence
2. Conscious incompetence
3. Conscious competence
4. Unconscious competence
These are the stages you will go through while trying to learn how to adhere to a diet or changing your habits. Listen in to the episode for more details.
I hope you enjoyed this episode and if you did share it with one other person in your life who would find it useful.

Today my youngest brother, Landon, joins me on Get Uncomfortable to talk about how the struggles, the process of life itself is the real gift, not just the achievement of a goal.
We discussed a video series by Martijn Doolaard where he builds cabins in the Italian alps. I was able to pull out some insights about myself just from watching these videos and then we dove deeper into how basically anything in life can be a teacher if you're open to it.
This was a really fun conversation to have and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT TODAY!
Jordan Bonifas (Growth mindset - episode 81) is back on the show today to announce our collaborative stress tolerance workshop even that will be held at the Enlightened Athlete gym on February 11th 8am-12pm. The workshop is called Pressure Proof: Thriving Under Stress.
This workshop is designed for anyone who wants to build a framework to better handle the stressors of life, and be able to build self awareness, self control, and ultimately self confidence.
You do not need to be a high level athlete or ice bath aficionado to participate, we designed every aspect of the workshop to meet you where you're at currently and help you push past your preconceived limitations.
We will teach you breathwork strategies, mental performance tools, help you identify a sympathetic nervous system response vs parasympathetic, and ultimately give you a real life practical situation to practice the newly learned skills in an ice bath and sauna session!
Reach Jordan on Instagram HERE or give him a call at 970-819-8300 to have a conversation about improving your mental attitude!
For more information about the workshop check out the event registration page for more info or to reserve your spot!

Do you check the scale everyday with fear and then feel like shit when it doesn’t say what you hoped for?
I have 2 tips for you if you can’t seem to lose those last 10-15 pounds, and it’s driving you nuts.
Here’s the first thing you need to do. STOP worrying about that shit. It’s stressing you out and making you frustrated and pushing you towards giving up.
Quitting is not going to help move you forward. It’s going to put you back at square one again. Day one. Back to no progress. Sound fun? I didn’t think so…
Instead refocus on all the progress you’ve already made. Maybe you are sleeping better. Your clothes fit differently. You learned to cook. You set the example for your family on HEALTH (not JUST weight loss)
Find positive things to focus on instead of just that fuc*ing scale!
#2 - Focus on your DAILY actions and habits. That’s what you can control. You can’t control what the scale says everyday (water retention, sleep amount & quality, hormonal changes, stress, time of day, etc influence this.)
Find ONE thing each day you can do to move yourself forward. Act as if the scale didn't exist and do the right shit you know you need to do… Some ideas:
1.Eat protein at every meal
2. Get 10,000 steps everyday this week.
3. Drink “x” oz’s of water every day this week.
4. Get 8 hours of sleep
5. No soda this week
You get the idea. Refocus on what you can control and nail healthy habits, those are what will lead you to the promised land after you do them consistently.
I hope this helps you continue creating massive transformation in your life!

I was lucky enough to sit down with Megan & have an in depth discussion about her experience in the medical field as an RN, how she feels patients may be getting let down by the medical industry as it stands today, and why she chose to completely leave the field to pursue nutrition coaching through the 1st Phorm app.
In addition to completely changing her career so she could feel she was making a lasting positive impact in the lives of those she worked with; she also went on an amazing healthy journey of her own. She was able to lose 70lbs. and keep it off through lifestyle change, grit, and discipline!
Megan's story is one that aligns perfectly with the decisions we advocate for here at Enlightened Athlete & Get Uncomfortable so I know you guys will love this conversation.

Today I wanted to discuss one the most prevalent gateway drugs plaguing America today, but one that is thought to be mostly benevolent. Highly Processed JUNK FOOD.
Look, I know it sounds crazy but for shits sake, look at the state of the average American citizen's health. We are constantly bombarded with bright colors, fun characters, commercials, billboards, emails, and more all reminding you to snag some shitty junk food to keep your brain operating at a snails pace and keep you fat and complacent.
It is absolutely an organized effort to keep you on the tit of the corporations and it's up to you as an individual to make better decisions for your family.
I broke down some really scary statistics in this episode as well to illustrate the bleak state of America's health.
I hope this help or brings to light how serious this issue will become in the near future.

Today we have Kayla Keep in Studio to break down what Orofacial Myofuntional therapy is all about and how it can help the lives of children and their parents.
The range of issues associated with improper tongue posture, restricted airways and all other things orocfacial was shocking to me when she broke them all down.
We covered why it's so important to breathe through your nose and stop mouth breathing, why some kids are picky eaters and how to help with that, changing the facial structure and form of the facial muscles which drastically changes the appearance of someones profile and much much more.
This was such a great conversation and I learned a ton and I know you will too.
