He didn't set out to save the world. He just wanted his family back.
Every magnificent prank he played on his sister backfired, and now he knew why. She was an accelerator. She could move so fast that the world around her seemed to grind to a halt. But she wasn't the only one.
In 1956, everything was rosy. Things look different now. Alone and pursued by a sinister group that controls the world's particle accelerator laboratories, he has nowhere to turn except to a bizarre group that might be heroes - or terrorists.
In an adventure that spans decades, he lurches through time, fleeing a shadowy figure who's always one step ahead. He can move faster than he thought but isn't quick enough to escape a global conspiracy.
When particles collide, who'll be left standing?

"(McNish) has written a different take on the superpower story wrapped in an easy-going memoir package that draws you through the story. A good time for fans of fantastic tales in the modern world". (Jordan D. White, editor, Marvel Comics: Deadpool, Star Wars)

Left me wanting more, shocked on how amazing ...
What made the experience of listening to Particle Man the most enjoyable?
The narration was truly a treat. I was immediately dreading listening to this because the author narrated his own book but trust me he did amazing.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
At first, I was really questioning the book. However, the farther I listened the more I started getting invested in the story. Then it got really good and I couldn't stop listening.
    Any additional comments?
Particle Man surprisingly left me wanting more. I loved this story. Dont let the narrator being the author keeps you from this book. I really think he did an amazing job. He did better than any other narrator could with bring the characters and vision to life.
The book starts a little slow, leaves you wondering where the science fiction is inside the book. However, it is in there. Great story, it was well planned and organized. The way its presented made the listen more intriguing. Particle Man keeps the reader interested like an old friend telling a story.
I would listen to more books from this author. Great read and well worth the time. This audio book was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot com"
A slow and often humorous narrative.
If you could sum up Particle Man in three words, what would they be?
    Slow. Humorous. Imaginative.
Would you recommend Particle Man to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes, I think it's something my friends who like comic books would enjoy.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I actually enjoyed the descriptions of what different cities look like in the past and how they differed from they do today.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I thought the characters nativity was expressed well. He is surprised and confounded by events that are pretty obvious to the reader.
    Any additional comments?

When Sally Blue was six years old, sleeping peacefully in her bed, a gunshot woke her up and subsequently ripped her world apart.
Jolted awake by the scary noise, Sally ran to her parents' bedroom for comfort. Instead she found her mother slumped against the headboard, her ravaged nightdress drenched from a double-barreled wound.
Climbing on the bed, Sally cradled her mother's head against her tiny chest - mindless of the blood and the cloying stench of death. There was no sign of her father, and Sally was too frightened to call out, when a voice from deep within her dead mother's throat screamed: "Run, Sally! Run!"
Twenty-five years later, Sally has finally stopped running. She finds peace among the dead as a mortician's beautician. And on the night of a strange murder that reawakens a special gift within her, she actually meets an interesting man: Jersey Castle, homicide detective by day, punk rock drummer by night.
But what Sally doesn't know is that someone has been hunting for her all this time. And now that she's passed his test of blood, he will stop at nothing to bring her home again.

Both, customer service and book great
Frank Schaetzing is nothing but modest in his excellent mastery of the German language. Educated, witty, and well researched topics makes his characters outstandingly likable. I found this story however predictable. Nevertheless, I learn something new every time without doubt.
Prior to receiving the book I was asked by the shippers if I was aware that the book was written in German. I knew but thought it was very attentive to ask prior to sending. I guess in the past some buyers were unaware of the difference in language. Great foresight on the part of the shippers.

From the steamy Caribbean tropics to the penthouses of New York City, dark secrets and bitter rivalry push a new bride and her mother-in-law to the very edge in this gripping novel of seduction and murder.
The oldest son of the rich and powerful Donner family, Jonathan prefers to remain a playboy rather than take over the financial and social responsibilities of his family's business empire. But in a near-fatal skydiving accident, Jonathan saves the life of a radiant young woman, Nicole Pierce. Like no one else he has ever met, she is confident, independent, and seemingly impressed by his fortune. Captivated by her beauty and intrigued by her mysterious past, Jonathan is determined to make Nicole his. After a whirlwind romance, the two lovers elope and begin a long honeymoon in the Caribbean.
Returning to the Donner family estate, Nicole is immediately embraced by the family. For John's younger sister and father, she is a breath of fresh air. But not everyone has fallen for her. Jonathan's dominant and powerful mother, Alexandra, believes the newest member of the family is more interested in money than in her son.
Then tragedy strikes, and Jonathan is killed in an accident, leaving Nicole to return to the family's compound, a young and tragic widow. But her mother-in-law thinks her son's death was no accident. Was he murdered? Could Nicole be behind the accident? Or is Alexandra jealous of her daughter-in-law? Alexandra sets out to prove Nicole's guilt and begins to uncover a web of lies and secrets. Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law come face to face in a gripping climax. NOT A PAGE TURNER
THIS BOOK WAS KIND OF DULL UNTIL ABOUT PAGE 100 BUT THEN IT GOT A LITTLE BETTER.
    Not so much
Started off well, but just when you think the story line is coming to a conclusion the author drags it out again in a different direction, and became convoluted. It went on and on and on and on to the point where I considered a DNF, I did finish it but the ending was not worth the long read.

    Publisher's Summary:
An extravaganza of suburban noir complete with one orgy, one brothel, and a series of firearms disputes - from Adam Thirlwell, twice selected as one of Granta's Best of Young British Novelists. This yarn takes place in the suburbs of a giant city.
In Brasilia theyre coming off their night shift; in Tokyo theyre having their first whisky sours. Thats whats happening elsewhere in the world when our hero wakes up. Together with his wife and dog, he lives at home with his parents. He has had the good education and, until recently, the good job.
In other words, the juggernaut of meaning was not parked heavily on our heros lawn. But then the lurid overtakes him - and whether this lurid tone is caused by our heros new unemployment or his feelings for a girl who is not his wife or the return of his old friend, Hiro, its hard to say.
Whats definite is that a chain of events begins that feels to those inside it narcotic and neurotic, like one long and terrible descent - complete with lies, deceit, and chicanery; one orgy, one brothel and a series of firearms disputes. While if you start to notice minute doubles and repeats or wonder if what you took as some trick of perspective might in fact be a kink of reality, perhaps that shouldn't be so much of a surprise....
For very possibly this suburban noir, as the story of a woebegone and global generation - and our hero, the sweetest narrator in world literature, may well also be the most fearsome.
Adam Thirlwell was born in London in 1978. He is the author of two novels, Politics and The Escape, and a project with international novels that includes an essay book, which won a Somerset Maugham Award, and a compendium of translations edited for McSweeney's.
He has twice been selected as one of Granta's Best of Young British Novelists. His work is translated into 30 languages.

    Wonderful writing
Another decade has passed and we now find John Madden 20 years past the first book a farmer with a son off to war. Sinclair is sticking around until the war ends and new men can come to the Yard. This time a farm hand of John's is murdered in London on a weekend trip to visit an aunt and many old dark stories come to light. John takes a special interest in seeing the case resolved as he feels a sense of responsibility for the dead girl, but as usual a dark twisty criminal is at the heart of the novel. Somehow the book taking 3 books to get 20 years ahead doesn't lose reader attention even though you read it for the characters missing huge swathes of life is not a problem. Wonderful writing.
    I love, love this series
I have read all of the books in the Louis Kincaid series and I was thrilled that FINALLY Dead of Winter is out as an ebook which permits me to reread the entire series again.
This book is amazing and it was great to read about Louis and his beginnings again. Of course, as always, for me, the storyline goes by too quickly - that is how much I love this series.
My only complaint? I went back to download the following book in the series in an attempt to read them in order and its not available as an ebook - yuck!
    As good as it gets.
I picked this up as a free book out of curiosity. It seems to be the s second of the Louis Kincaid series.
I thought this novel was perfect. The plot, even with many twists and turns, is easy to follow. The characters are all well developed and relatable. It is one of those books that you can not put down, yet you never want it to end.
My only problem is that the entire series involving Louis Kincaid is not available as e-books. However, after reading "Dead of Winter", I bought all the Louis Kincaid e-books that are currently available and then searched extensively for paperback copies of the others.
I have never gone to this much effort for a series, but this book is just that good. I suspect that, after I finish the Kincaid series, I will seek out the rest of the books available by P.J. Parrish.
Get and read this book. If you can find "Dark of the Moon", published in 2000, do yourself a favor and read that first, although it is really not necessary to do so since this book is totally enjoyable as is.
I am afraid the authors have created a P.J. Parrish addict, one who has no intention of finding a PJP-ANON group any time soon. :-)
    Another Winner
Rennie Airth has gathered together his familiar, beloved cast of characters, added several new ones to root for, and brought to life the blackest villain you will love to hate.

    Publisher's Summary:
London, January 2014. In the space of 32 hours, in a well-planned and highly organized operation, six billionaires' children are taken off the streets of London in a series of slickly well-executed kidnaps.
The gang demands 25 million per hostage for "expenses" - not ransom. And when your child goes missing, you need Charles Boxer: a man with little left to lose, who'll stop at nothing to save families suffering what he has.
The wealthy parents of the missing children know that Boxer will do more than police can - but that doesn't mean the law will leave it to him. Intelligence agencies are all interested in the kidnaps because in each case the parents are related to people in power in the various countries involved.
Soon the investigation goes beyond the corridors of power and the boardrooms of big corporations - and to far darker corners. Even more worryingly for Boxer and his ex-wife, Mercy, it threatens to lead back to their own lives, too.
But still nobody knows what this mysterious kidnap gang ultimately want, and if they have a cause, what the hell is it?

    Wishful Thinking/Outrageous Premise
Mr Robert Wilson presents another amazing novel with Charles Boxer as the flawed protagonist. It's suspenseful. It's different. It's bound to impact on a huge number of readers and create changes in conservative thinking patterns.
    A great listen
This is the 3rd in the series and I have enjoyed all 3 of these. Was a bit apprehensive after listening to the Falcon series but wasn't disappointed.
A couple of 'really' moments - I won't spoil anything! Good storyline - agree with another reviewer that a bit far fetched in places but still a great listen.
    When's the next one......
Yes a bit far fetched - still a great listen
I am enjoying this series. This instalment is not quite as well written as the previous ones - the action descriptions being a bit 'boy's own' and a little bit too much violence for my liking. The central plot with the multiple kidnaps is a good one but it was obviously a bit of a struggle to hold it all together - and some aspects ere never wholly explained, whilst the subplot with 2 further kidnaps just sort of drifts about. Having said that it's still very much worth a listen, fabulously read by the great Steven Pacey and ending as always on a question mark.
When is the next one coming out
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
    Definitely.
The story and the narration is superb. Characters come to life.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Chevon. Mainly because you did not know who you were dealing with until the very end.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
    Too many to mention.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. But can't tell you as it would be a spoiler.
    Any additional comments?
Read it. Listen to it. Enjoy it.
    Good narrator
A bit of a Boys Own Story audio book. Very far fetched and overly complicated, with dozens of names to remember. The sex angle was bizarre and unbelievable!
I buy anything narrated by Steven Pacey, as he's one of the best but he was let down by this author
