  • Go: A Call to Evangelism
Sharing the Gospel with others is something that most Christians profess as a good idea but seldom put into practice. While fear of rejection or injury to a relationship may fuel this trepidation, it ultimately comes down to a lack of motivation to carry out this good work; however, the New Testament provides ample reasons to motivate the people of God to share His message of mercy with others. In this study, we explore three occasions when Jesus commanded someone to “go” with a message from God and how these occasions can help us to get busy in this good work.

  • The Cross of Jesus: My Tree of Life
Early in the Bible story, we learn of a tree whose fruit offered the promise of eternal life. Sadly, when humans turned in rebellion against God access to this tree of life was prohibited. God, however, was not finished and the story of the Bible shows the journey back to this tree. Ironically, for humanity to eat from this tree and gain life, the Son of God had to die. In more irony, He died on a tree. In this study, we'll expolore the connection between the tree, the death of Jesus, and humanity’s hope for eternal life.

  • The Tree of Life
The early pages of the Bible describe the paradise of God, complete with a tree that offered the opportunity for eternal life. Sadly, humans failed to eat from this tree of life and sank into mortality. However, the ending pages of the Bible give hope; this tree is readily available in the paradise of God for any who will show faith in God and accept His gracious gift. How, though, does this happen? While many answers could be given, the book of Proverbs is the only other book of the Bible where the tree of life makes an appearance. It is in this book a glimpse of the wisdom available from God is given and an explanation provided for how one can adopt the kind of life that leads to the tree. This lesson centers on these proverbs that help to see wisdom’s association with the tree.

  • Confident Salvation
Are we truly confident that eternal life with God is our destiny? For many, the sad answer to this question is no; there is the fear that the words, "Depart from me" will be the Judgment Day sentence. However, this is not how God wants HIs people to live; He desires a confident expectation that the blessings of eternity can be firmly in place. This study will explain how one becomes a Christian as well as how a Christian can maintain confidence throughout his or her walk on this earth.

  • Wisdom on God's Side
James, the brother of Jesus, asked the question, "Who is wise and has understanding among you?" Do you have wisdom and understanding? We would like to all answer this question affirmatively because no one wants to be perceived as being foolish. However, we cannot just say that we have wisdom; it must be reflected in our lives. God cares so much about us having His wisdom as it is substantially revealed to us in the Holy Word.

  • Rest, In Peace (Pt. 3)
Eternal rest is the hope of every child of God, but what exactly does this mean? To understand the rest God has promised requires looking back to what God has said about rest throughout His word. Of particular interest is the seventh day of rest during the creation week and the Sabbath days that followed. This is the third and final sermon in a series entitled, “Rest, in Peace.”

  • Rest, In Peace (Pt. 2)
To have the mind at ease is truly a blessing. This means that there is tranquility and peace, being fully comforted that the Lord is in control. This is rest. The people of Israel had this opportunity after their departure from Egypt; however, they allowed the dangers surrounding them to rob them of this peace. Four decades later, a new generation had a better grasp on the concept as they trusted that the Lord was about to deliver to them a land of rest. Sadly, this rest was forfeited by a failure to be faithful to Him. These ancient peoples teach us a great deal about the concept of rest both in this life and the life to come. This is the second in a short series of sermons on the topic of rest.

  • Rest, In Peace (Pt. 1)
The word rest conjures images of peace and tranquility after a hard day’s work, leading one to contemplate a nap in the recliner or a soft mattress for tired bones. Rest is a major topic in the Bible; however, it is a far different concept than simply sitting back and relaxing. This lesson begins a short series of sermons on this topic, entitled, “Rest, in Peace.” These studies will focus on episodes from ancient Israel that are ultimately used by the writer of Hebrews as he explains the promised rest that God offers.
