The White Sox lost 2 of 3 in Kansas City over the weekend however still hold a healthy lead in the AL Central. Dallas Keuchel continued his lifeless ways while the entire Sox pitching staff could not solve the mystery of Salvador Perez. The Sox continue to monitor soreness and fatigue as Carlos Rodon will most likely miss his next start. Our first place White Sox took 2 of 3 this weekend and 5 of 6 on the year from our neighbors to the North. Dallas Keuchel and Lance Lynn struggled but the real story was the return of Yasmani Grandal to the already potent Sox lineup. Yaz did not disappoint nor did the Sox offense, scoring 30 runs in the series. The Sox managed to get their lead over Cleveland to double digits as they have a day off before welcoming the Pirates to the South Side. It was a good weekend and a good time to be a Sox fan.
The Sox went (3-4) on their most recent road trip and went (7-7) during a challenging stretch that featured: NYY, OAK, TB and TOR. Carlos Rodon has returned from the IL and Grandal may be soon to follow. The season is a marathon and the White Sox need to push through their current consistencies. Keep the focus on October but take care of the business at hand. It's a delicate dance that will now feature our neighbors to the North. Show no mercy and plant the Sox flag proudly for all to see. It's the first time since 2016 that the White Sox won a series vs. the Athletics. Great efforts by the bullpen and some timely hitting helped the Sox take 3 of 4 from Oakland. Eloy and Robert are locked in which is a huge relief for Abreu. Hendricks got back to All Star form and Lopez was very impressive. The lack of timely hitting and poor pitching performances hurt the Sox as they maintain their first place standing but continue to struggle against teams above .500.
