We welcome back Herb Lawrence to the podcast to talk all things White Sox. Herb is the executive producer of the Laurence Holmes Show on The Score 670. What did the Sox get right and get wrong leading up to the lockout? How far away are the owners and players... what issues are the big sticking points? Will Kimbrel pitch for the Sox in 2022 and if no other moves are made, how good can this team be next season? On a cold January night when baseball talks seem at a frozen solid standstill, Herb brings us hope and excitement for what could come our way in 2022. Thanks for joining us, Go Sox!
Hey Sox fans. It's been 10 yrs. since the Sox gave John Danks a ridiculous 5 yr./$65M contract extension. Danks did not live up to the contract and the Sox parted ways at the beginning of 2016. We explore the ramifications of that deal and why it has possibly scarred the Sox from spending premium money on pitching. Also, do the Danks extension ghosts doom a potential Giolito deal? Thank you for a wonderful 2021... can't wait to talk more White Sox in the new year. Here's to a healthy and exciting 2022 season.
All is quiet on the MLB front but we press on anyway with our 150th episode. We reflect on things we would like to see changed with the Sox organization, what things we would like to see return and celebrate the things that will hopefully keep the White Sox competitive for many more years. We absolutely love bringing Sox content your way as often as possible. Thank you so much for the continued support. Happy Holidays and Go Sox!
It's the start of Season 4 of the podcast and we are playing the waiting game when it comes to the MLB lockout. We discuss what's on the bargaining table and what loose ends the Sox need to tie up once things get back to normal. Minnie Minoso is finally in the Hall of Fame. Why did it take so long and who from the Sox might be next to get the call?
The Sox have failed to make a big splash and pay premium money for premium talent (so far) but did decide to bring Leury Garcia back for three more years. Hahn had a press conference to talk about it or did he just want to address the dissatisfaction of the fan base in a passive sort of way? How does it feel as a Sox fan to see so many other MLB teams spending wildly? The the MLB lockout is seemingly inevitable. Sox fans will most likely have to wait and see what missing pieces will be added to an already championship caliber team.
It seems as if the White Sox have started to spend some money as time quickly runs out on the current CBA. The Sox have been linked to RHP Kendall Graveman. This would be a nice bullpen move to hopefully jump start the spending. What does this mean for Tepera or Kimbrel? Will the next starting 2B come via trade or will the Sox actually spend premium money? Also, could Minoso finally be head to the HOF? We can't thank you enough for the continued support. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Go Sox!
Sox fans watch restlessly as teams throughout MLB start to throw money around. It's still early but the end of the current CBA is fast approaching. Will the Sox make a significant move before Dec. 1st? How much stock do you put in the MLB awards? Should TLR have received more 1st place votes for MOY? Speaking of stock, would you buy a share of the White Sox if it was available and was essentially just a piece of paper? Local, fan-centric White Sox conversations. Go Sox!
White Sox GM, Rick Hahn, spoke a few times over the last week regarding a variety of different matters. Why didn't the Sox extend a QO to Rodon? What internal options are being looked at for RF? Who's being targeted for 2B? How will the team address the porous bullpen? It's rare when Hahn gives a straight answer. Most of the time you have to read between the lines and infer. Despite the irritating management speak, the Sox do indeed have some holes to fill and will need to be creative this off-season. Go Sox.
The World Series has ended and the MLB off-season has officially begun. Will there be some immediate moves made by the Sox? We know there might be some internal shuffling and the need for guys to potentially step into larger roles. How might the 2022 rotation look with Kopech filling a spot? The 2021 starting staff were tops in the AL during the regular season. How did things go so wrong in the postseason and what can be done to strengthen the rotation for a deep run 2022? Go Sox.
The White Sox want to be on the stage that the Braves and Astros are playing on. What separates the Sox from the elite teams? Is it talent? Coaching? Preparation? Experience? In our minds, the Sox are close to breaking through but what are those missing pieces and how can they be addressed in the offseason? We talk about the need to upgrade at certain positions and why it should not necessarily be another emerging prospect that is gifted the job. Go Sox!
