🎙️ Episode 209 – Peter Harpster: Life, Leadership, and Loss
In this powerful and deeply personal episode, I sit down with City of Pasco Councilman Peter Harpster — a man whose story mirrors many parts of my own. Peter and I both married young, joined the U.S. Air Force, and grew up with fathers who served in law enforcement. But perhaps our deepest connection comes from shared heartbreak — the loss of a children far too soon.
Together, we explore what it means to lead while grieving, how service shapes character, and how faith and purpose can carry us through unimaginable pain. This isn’t just a conversation about leadership — it’s about resilience, redemption, and the courage to keep showing up when life breaks you open.
Tune in to hear a raw and real conversation about life, leadership, and the lessons that loss can teach us.

On this week’s Mighty Monday, we explore something tender, honest, and deeply human: the gap between well-intentioned words and meaningful support.
In this episode, I open up about the loss of my oldest daughter, Danielle, and the reality that some of the most powerful comfort we received didn’t come from advice, clichés, or attempts to make the pain smaller—it came from presence. Quiet. Steady. Compassionate presence.
We also unpack a sermon I heard this past week from a guest pastor titled, “God Won’t Give You More Than You Can Handle.” It’s a phrase many of us have heard—and many of us have repeated—but the pastor challenged it with truth and humility. The message wasn’t that we are strong enough to carry everything life throws our way. The message was this:
God will never give us more than He can handle.
Pain, grief, and hardship aren’t evidence of weakness—they are invitations back to hope, faith, and connection.
Before we dive in, I share a quick update:
my new book releases in paperback December 1st on Amazon. I can’t wait for you to read it.
Whether you're navigating your own storm or supporting someone else through theirs, this episode is an invitation to slow down, speak less, and love better.

🎙️ Episode 206 – Mighty Monday: Intentional, Repetitive, Consistent
This week on The Gravity Podcast, we reflect on powerful lessons from the Behind the Badge Foundation’s Law Enforcement Family Network Conference in Spokane, Washington.
Our spotlight shines on keynote speaker Dr. Brooke Bartlett, who reminded us that mental and physical wellness doesn’t happen by accident—it’s built through routines that are intentional, repetitive, and consistent.
Chris unpacks how these three qualities apply not only to first responder wellness, but to leadership, family life, and personal growth. Whether you’re in uniform or navigating the everyday challenges of life, this episode will help you anchor your habits with purpose and perseverance.

🎙️ Episode 204: Rat Park and the Power of Community
In this Mighty Mondays edition of the Gravity Podcast, Chris explores the groundbreaking Rat Park study from the 1970s — a powerful reminder that connection, not isolation, often determines our well-being. The experiment revealed that when given community and purpose, even addicted rats chose freedom over substances — a lesson that echoes deeply in our human experience.
Chris also shares an emotional excerpt from his new book, Echoes from the Street, featuring Coach Templeton’s rule — a simple but profound team standard that encouraged athletes to lean on one another when exhausted. It’s a story that bridges science, sport, and the shared strength of community.
💡 Takeaway: Healing and resilience aren’t built in isolation — they’re forged in connection.

Jeff opens up about the lessons he’s learned in each chapter of his career, the challenges of transitioning between roles, and the importance of mentoring others. We also dive into the personal side of his story—balancing the demands of police work with family life and the values that keep him grounded.
Whether you’re a first responder, a leader, or someone seeking insight into resilience and growth, this conversation offers wisdom and perspective from years on the frontlines and in the classroom.

On this episode of Mighty Mondays, Chris asks the questions, How would you live differently if you knew you were dying?
The truth is, we are all in a process of dying. But if you knew you only had 7 more days, how would you live differently?
For Chris, it all came down to the time he would spend with the most important people in his life and the bold conversations he would lean into.

On Episode 201 of the Gravity Podcast, Chris speaks with Golden Police Department (CO) Chief of Police Joe Harvey. At the request of his City Manager, Scott Vargo, Chief Harvey implemented a 4/32 work schedule. Officers' scheduled work week reduced from 40 hours to 32 hours without a reduction in pay. The idea of the condensed work week is to encourage employees to invest in themselves and their families.

On September 21st, 2025, I crossed the finish line at IRONMAN 70.3 Washington—but the real victory wasn’t just the medal. It was the lesson: Run Your Race.
In this milestone 200th episode of the Gravity Podcast, I share the insights endurance racing has taught me about life, leadership, and resilience. It’s easy to get distracted by what others are doing—their pace, their performance, their plan. But just like on the course, comparison in life is a thief. Your success is built on knowing your why, charting your path, and adapting with wisdom when challenges arise.
Know Your Why – Motivation has to come from something deeper than just finishing. It’s what keeps you steady when the miles feel endless.
Know Where You’re Going – Clarity of direction creates confidence. Without a destination, effort drifts.
Develop Your Plan Based on Experience – Learn from what’s worked (and what hasn’t) to create a strategy that’s yours, not borrowed.
Plan for Problems, Allow for Deviation – Obstacles are guaranteed. The difference is whether you crumble—or flex and keep moving.
Ignore the Noise – Just like I had to block out other runners on the course, your best race in life is run when you focus on your lane, your pace, your purpose.
This episode isn’t just about triathlon—it’s about staying grounded, refusing distraction, and running the race you were built for.
