If you’re not a pet parent, you probably have at least one or two on your holiday shopping list, so this show is for you! I’ve included not just fabulous products but a great education in greening your pet’s lifestyle. Bronna Bodenstein from Earth Doggy – an eco-friendly pet boutique – joins us to discuss a fabulous new pet food container. You won’t hear us haggle about which of two products should have made the list but you will hear how we settled the debate! Pet Food Expert Leslie May dishes on the 4 best possibilities for feeding your dog and Dr. Larry Green from Bokashicycle Fermenting Systems helps us close the loop on poop.
You can hear excerpts from my conversation with Leslie May about how to treat your dog to a healthy holiday dinner, hear how we answered the question “What’s the future of organic dog food if we stay on the path Leslie has directed us to?”, and get links and resources from all of our guests on my blog.

During the episode “This Summer is What Global Warming Looks Like”, Nobel Prize Winning Climatologist Dr. Kevin Trenberth suggested that we can’t reverse climate change without strong legislative action. During the second show “What Climate Change Looks Like in the Nation’s Capitol”, noted meteorologist and climate change expert Dr. Jeff Masters made a shocking statement – at least shocking considering that we’re less than 90 days from our next presidential election: “There isn’t any climate change legislation on the docket right now.” That statement is the headline we’re peeling back in today’s show with Senior Legislative Representative from Earth Justice, Sarah Saylor, who will discuss how that can be, and what we can do about it.

As long as we keep looking only at the Northwest region and thinking “too bad about the droughts and the wildfires” there are those among us who will never make the connection that all of these outrageous occurrences – the droughts, the wildfires, the violet storms and flooding – are a function of climate change. So by moving from region to region each week and pointing out the many faces of climate change – both human and environmental – I hope to show that none of us are going unscathed, that climate change has come home to roost in our front yards and that we are our brother’s keeper.
My guests this week are Dr. Jeff Masters, noted meteorologist and co-founder of wunderground.com, one of the internet’s earliest and most popular purveyors of weather-related news and data , and Kimberly Thomas, a professional who lives in Clinton, MD and commutes into Washington DC, now a hotbed of…umm…heat.

Traditionally, summer in America means fun in the sun, trips to the beach…and wildfires. My guests this week know a little something about wildfires; Bessie Schwartz of Environment Colorado and Dr. Kevin Trenberth, a Distinguished Senior Scientist and Nobel Peace Prize Winner at the National Center for Atmospheric Research – are both on the ground in Colorado near where the wildfires are burning again this year. They will each, in their own unique ways, help us attach an American face to climate change so we can stop telling ourselves its someone else’s problem. We’ll also discuss the cheap, easy ways we can get engaged in the fight to reverse climate change…also known as going green.
