Despite how terrifying a situation might be and how hard we fight to believe something is happening, sometimes, the only thing that can save us is finding the courage to face one's shadow in the darkest hour.
In this episode, I'm joined by the inspiring Tara Coyote. Tara is a three-times Best-selling Author, Life Coach, the Owner of Wind Horse Sanctuary in Kauai, Hawaii, a thriver, and survivor. After being diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, which ended up spreading throughout her body, multiple painful losses in her life, and being forced to sell her horse retreat center in Northern California, Tara saw, in coming back home, Kauai, not a curse, or a setback but a blessing as she was able to feel the Earth's mana and aina again, be with her animals, and heal.
Throughout our conversation, Tara talks about her physical and spiritual healing, her thoughts on being on both sides of dealing with cancer, both as a caregiver to a loved one and a patient and the role emotional support played in her recovery. We also talk about Tara's work with horses and how she uses them to help others face their own shadows and heal, grief rituals, her books, and so much more.
Tune in and listen to episode 194 of Grief and Happiness and learn more about this real-life heroine.

The moment we start seeing death as a transition instead of an ending, we understand it doesn't have to be the end of our relationship with the person who passed.
In this episode, I'm joined by Jane L. Rosen, Author and New York Times, Huffington Post, Redbook, and Tablet contributor. Her first novel, "Nine Women, One Dress," has been translated into ten languages, and her second, "Eliza Starts a Rumor." has been optioned by NBC. Her latest book, "On Fire Island," tells the story of a 37-year-old woman who unexpectedly passes away and decides to spend one more summer with her loved ones instead of following the light to the other realm. Jane's book gifts its readers with beautiful moments, poignant comedy, and a new and unique perspective on grief.
Throughout our conversation, Jane talks about why she decided to write her novel from a deceased character's perspective, her life on Fire Island, cultural traditions, and intergenerational friendships so common on the island. Jane also shares her thoughts on grief, loss, and our connection with the afterlife, why it is crucial to maintain our relationships with those who passed away, and much more.
Tune in and listen to episode 192 of Grief and Happiness, and explore new ways of keeping in touch with your loved ones after they pass.

Have you ever felt your body and your mind were disconnected? There are times, especially when you are in deep grief or pain, that even when your brain is "trying to make you feel okay again," it is hard to get our bodies and brains to cooperate.
In this episode, I'm joined by the two-time International Best-selling Author, Philanthropist, and Founder of The Positivity Report, Renee Dutton. Renee is a radiant beacon of optimism and positivity, passionate about spotlighting the sunny side of life to others. Thanks to her resilience, she has endured isolation amidst natural disasters, almost a year without her voice, and multiple near-death experiences, which did nothing but boost her unwavering determination to rise above challenges time and time again.
Throughout this episode, Renee shares her thoughts on the beauty and power of positive thinking, the transformational properties of neuroplasticity, and the advantages of understanding that the difference between how we and others see the world is a matter of perspective. We also talk about releasing the things that don't serve us, her book, "The Sunshine Effect," why we must understand pain and sadness aren't a lifetime commitment despite being real, and much more.
Tune in and listen to episode 190 of Grief and Happiness and learn more about how positive thinking can help you change how you see and connect with reality.

What art form helped you the most as you metamorphosed from a grief caterpillar to a happiness butterfly?
In this episode, I'm joined by the talented Kevin Campbell. After the utterly unexpected loss of her girlfriend of 22 years, Kevin relied on music to survive the pain and "wrote the album he didn't want to write." The Stages, the album he wrote as an instrument to process his own grief journey, is a beautiful helping hand for those experiencing similar pain. Kevin's artistic inclinations took him to Los Angeles, where he starred in numerous commercials and wrote and directed web series and a pilot for the TV network FX.
Throughout this episode, you'll hear Kevin's thoughts on grief and the metamorphosis all of us are capable of, even after the most painful losses. We discuss several coping strategies, the attitudes that speed up healing processes, and how powerful and liberating relying on journaling and gratitude can be. Kevin also talks about The Stages, his 6th and latest album inspired by the death of his girlfriend, the difference between his thoughts and feelings writing the album's first and last song, and more.
Tune in and listen to episode 188 of Grief and Happiness and discover a pleasant, inspiring, and harmonious way of transitioning from grief to happiness.
