Today I got to talk to one of my favorite gals, Laura Griffiths. Laura and I not only went to high school together, but she does my HAIR! She is a perfectionist and does the best job every time. And man, that girl has been through so much. Following the death of her father, her family has experienced so much disease and loss of life and it's just plain been unfair. She developed DCIS, underwent 5 surgeries, torn cadaver skin, and you guessed it, nipple tattoos. K, maybe you didn't guess that part. Her story is fascinating and she was so open and vulnerable and was willing to share it all, in hopes of helping someone else. She's so positive and vibrant and has so much to offer in this world. It is an HONOR knowing her. instagram.com/salonlaurag https://www.vagaro.com/lg

It was at my 20 week ultrasound where I was told that my little babe had a clear and visible clubfoot and that if there was any deformity I wanted, it would be "this one." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I didn't want ANY deformity! But sure enough, little Niko came out with a completely backwards foot and we started the long journey of weekly castings, shriner's hospital visits, tenotomy surgery, boots and bar, blisters, pressure sores, sleepless nights, and pain. It was hard. For all you clubfoot mamas out there in the thick of casting and crying, this one's for you.

Gritty Mama edition: I was blown away talking to Amber about the events that have happened to her life in the last five years. And I thought MY five years were bad. She battled an unexpected diagnosis when her first baby was born, betrayal, finding love again, and a tragic death. Listen to how she gave it all go God and allowed herself to feel "mortal feelings" in this mortal life. She is incredible.

GRITTY MAMA EDITION: I'm not sure whether to curse Stella, or thank her, but take a listen to this fascinating episode about one heck of a gritty woman that didn't let anything stop her. This story comes with all sorts of surprises, not the least of which surprised us all 125 years later. So trippy. You'll love this one.

And I thought 2019 was bad! Holy moly I got my life HANDED each and every year after that! From 3 tonsillectomies and tubes in one day, to recovery, then Covid and homeschooling with 7 kids, getting pregnant and getting Covid two weeks before delivery (while injecting myself with Lovenox everyday), to becoming single overnight with 8 children under the age of 12...it's been a LOT. And I forgot to mention a mysterious illness turned mononucleosis in my 3 year old, and rotavirus in my 18 month old. Both of which rushed us to the ER....I mean, what else could go wrong?

It's 2024! Time for goals! Since 1989 I've been writing down goals in the physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual departments. Not to mention long term goals! It's been so fun to see the evolution of handwriting and drawing too. The kids love seeing their progress through the years and we laugh hysterically reading who their crush was for the year.

Who the heck am I? In this episode, I give a quick review of when I was born, who my parents are, how many siblings I have, and where I attended school! I talk about how dancing was my passion, what I studied in college and where I served a mission. Just a little intro to me. And if you're curious, I talk about a pivotal choice I made in Jr. High that could have seriously changed the trajectory of my life. I still wonder about that choice.

Don't you have enough on your plate? Single mom with 8 kids under 14, and now a podcast? That's right. I need a place to air it out. I talk about why I chose the name of the podcast, what I hope you get out of it, and what *I* eventually hope to get out of it too. Here goes!

Some weeks, we share what’s happening in our own lives. Other weeks, we sit down with women whose experiences have something to teach us, alongside experts who help us understand ourselves and our options.
My Latter-day Saint faith is part of my story and these conversations. So are laughter, hard questions, and days when we’re still figuring it out.
We don’t always know what comes next, but we have plenty to talk about along the way.
