Grizzly Bear Blues: for Memphis Grizzlies fans

The Core Four Boys got together this week to talk about the losing streak, the Grizzlies' late-game struggles and give their hot takes on the NBA.

In X's and O's, Xavier explains why Memphis has struggled to execute at the end of close games. Matt believes the blame should go to coach Taylor Jenkins and if he can not improve Memphis may be looking for a new coach in the offseason. Dave praises Golden State's off-ball movement in their offense and wants the same for the Grizzlies.

For Kleiman Corner, the guys patiently wait for Memphis to make a trade to steady the ship. Trades for OG Anunoby, DeMar DeRozen, and Kevin Durant are discussed to see who fits best with the Grizzlies' current roster and the price for each. Looking across the division, Matt explains why the Kyrie trade could make the South West division even more difficult for Memphis for years to come.

The guys then Embrace Debate, breaking down the NBA All-Star snubs and break down why Jaren Jackson Jr. was a worthy addition this year. Xavier misses the old jerseys and Dave wants the old East versus West format to return.

To close the show, the C4 Boys give their hottest NBA takes. Xavier loves the new generation of bucket-getters. Matt thinks the West is becoming less wild and Dave thinks immaturity is holding Memphis back.

A very tough loss for the Grizzlies last night extends this poor run of games as they travel to Cleveland tonight to take on the Cavaliers. No Jaren Jackson Jr tonight will certaintly hurt the Grizzlies on the defensive side of the ball, so they will look for role players to step up and play crucial minutes in helping defend one of the best young forwards in the NBA in Evan Mobley. We discuss a bunch of bets tonight including:

Grizzlies +5.5

O/U 223.5

Ja O/U 6.5 assists

Mobley O/U 16.5 points

Cavs TT O/U 114.5

All odds from DraftKings Sportsbook, the official sportsbook partner of SB Nation.

On this week's episode of the Nxt Gen Podcast, Host Bryson Wright is joined by the Tribal Chief of Grizz Twitter, Anthony Sain. We open by discussing the Grizzlies' loss to the Trail Blazers and why they have struggled on this stretch. Then, we get into the biggest question of the deadline, are the Grizzlies going all in? Or will they stay put and continue to focus on development? We go into detail about a few of the trade targets the Grizzlies have been linked to, including OG Anunoby, Malik Beasley, Cam Reddish, and many more.

The Core Four is here to talk trades, refereeing, and rank their NBA title contenders. But, Matt opens the show to discuss Ja Morant being snubbed as an All-Star starter while Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. won't be making the roster at all.

For this week's Kleiman Corner, the guys discuss the upcoming trade deadline. The elephant in the room is everybody on Grizzlies' Twitter fawning over OG Anunoby but, is he worth the three first-round picks Toronto is asking for? Matt and Xavier give alternative targets with much lower asking prices.

Then, Dave gives the young guys a history lesson going through Memphis' past deadline moves. He shares his top five Grizzlies trades of all time. Xavier takes some shots at former Grizzlies that should have been traded much sooner.

The guys Embrace Debate over the refereeing across the league. The Grizzlies have a roster full of guys that are hard to officiate but the entire league has been facing a ref problem including some big-name stars.

To close the show, the C4 Boys do their Top 4 NBA Title Contenders Ranked by the College Football Playoff Committee. Matt brings the Top 10 teams based on how the guys have ranked all season and Philly has entered the chat.

The Grizzlies finally got back into the win column on Sunday night against the Pacers. After a slow first half, JJJ and Ja Morant took over and made sure Memphis ended their losing streak there. Now with Portland in their sights, Memphis will hope to make it two home wins in a row before going back on the road to Cleveland tomorrow night. We discuss a number of bets including:

Grizzlies -5.5

O/U 239

Ja Morant O/U 6.5 rebounds

JJJ O/U 2.5 blocks

Nassir Little O/U 0.5 threes

All odds from DraftKings Sportsbook, the official sportsbook partner of SB Nation.

The Grizzlies left Memphis on an eleven game win streak, and return on a five game losing streak. While this is a tough stretch for the Grizzlies as they look to fight for the top spot in the west, they must look to first stop the bleeding in a game against a struggling Pacers team that should allow them to do just that. We discuss bets including:

Grizzlies -9

O/U 224

Ja O/U 9.5 assists

JJJ O/U 2.5 blocks

Grizzlies 1Q -3

All odds from DraftKings Sportsbook, the official sportsbook partner of SB Nation.
