🏈 9 GREAT ROOKIE FOOTBALL CARDS THAT NEVER WERE!
We listed off 9 Great Rookie Basketball Cards That Never Were (and 13 Others) in a previous issue, and it was easily one of our most popular posts so far. It was a list of rookie cards we were robbed of seeing, for whatever reason, and now we’re turning our attention to the football card world, since the 2024 NFL season is about to launch! In some cases, these players got rookie cards, just not in the season they should have gotten them, or in the product that should have celebrated them!
We also go back to Patrick Imhoff for another way Fanatics can be fixed before they get all three major sports card licenses in 2026! Imhoff shares his thoughts on Redemption Cards this time, and how he’d make everyone happy – from collectors to Fanatics!
Ebay shares some of their football search stats with us, and gives us an preview on the four most-searched football players from last season, which should roll over into this year!
Finally, we look at yet another amazing entry into our list of “Cards That Make Us Happy!” with a football rookie card for the ages. We don’t want to spoil it – but the player’s name rhymes with Schmeyton Schmanning!

Which Sluggers Have the Most 21st Century Home Runs?
Who do you think are the five biggest home run hitters from this 21st century? I’m sure you can think of some of the more obvious sluggers, like those that came into the league right at the turn of the century, like Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera. But can you piece together the other three? They’re actually quite surprising!
We also share one of Patrick Imhoff’s Fanatics’ fixes, which are always entertaining and thought-provoking. (We really need Fanatics’ decision-makers to listen to these podcasts!)
Finally, I look at the active career home run leaders over at Baseball Reference, and start making some predictions over which active MLB players have a chance at reaching the 500-HR Club!

Literally, hundreds of thousands of people are going to be drafting their Fantasy Football teams over the next couple weeks, which means there’s a lot of player evaluating going on out there!
That means there are ways sports card collectors can learn about what the crowd thinks about the incoming rookie class, as well as which players are believed to have breakout season — or disappointing seasons!
We share five ways Fantasy owners can help card collectors improve their collections!
What Else You Got!?!
Patrick Imhoff also shares another great nugget on how he’d fix Fanatics if he were CEO, before the unification of all the major sports card licenses in 2026.
Finally, we share another edition of “CARDS THAT MAKES US HAPPY!” We highlight all the reasons that the 1991 Upper Deck Baseball Michael Jordan #SP1 card was a big deal back then — and still a big deal now

One of the most exciting times of the baseball season is the possible player movement before the MLB Trade Deadline — which is Tuesday, July 30, at 6pm ET.
Our Patrick Imhoff looks at seven six players who might get traded before the deadline, which means different things for collectors. Some players’ rookie cards will get a little boost, depending on where they land, but some prospects who get traded back for a star might become more valuable because of an increased chance of starring in the majors sooner than later.
Randy Arozarena was already traded from Tampa Bay to Seattle, for Aidan Smith and two other players! What do we think of that!?!
Patrick Imhoff’s newsletter can be found here — check it out when you can! He does some great Thrifty Thursday articles to help us know which prospect and rookie cards we should target!
In this podcast, we also go over how we feel about great youngsters who get busted for Performance Enhancing Drugs! Do we still target their cards? Do we avoid them?
Finally, we head to Pittsburgh to see another great Card That Makes Us Happy — 1973 Topps Roberto Clemente!
