One of the toughest things for sports card collectors to deal with these days is the ridiculous number of parallels out there for every single card. We all know it’s just a ploy to get us to buy more cards, but it’s annoying!

That’s what got me to start looking at collecting specific pre-war vintage cards, or at least, to start a “Want List” of pre-war vintage cards. You’d be surprised at the prices for T206 cards of Hall-of-Famers might cost you! They’re cheaper than many of these ridiculous parallel cards — and they’re more important!

Also, our guy Patrick Imhoff shares some great tips for collecting rookie cards! Remember a couple weeks ago when he shared some perfect pointers on prospects? He does the same thing here, but with first-year Major Leaguers!

The arrival of Caitlin Clark to the WNBA has changed the sports landscape, and the sports card world is no different. If you haven’t jumped onto the WNBA cards bandwagon, we’re sharing a handful of reasons why now is the time to get ahead of the tidal wave.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking this is just a one-year phenomena because it was Caitlin’s rookie year. The W just added Paige Bueckers, and they have JuJu Watkins, Lauren Betts and Hannah Hidalgo waiting in the wings! While we’re always excited when a new Topps set comes out, whether it’s their flagship releases or Topps Chrome or even Topps Archives, there’s just something especially nostalgic about 2025 Topps Heritage Baseball!

From the great subsets, to the wonderful inserts, to the pretty awesome autographs available, this should be a very fun series to collect this year!

One of our favorite things is the new rookie cards we’ll get for players whose RCs we didn’t get in 2025 Topps Series 1!

We also had Alan Camuto review the 1976 Topps Baseball set design, which is what the 2025 Topps Heritage set is based off!

It’s tough to get all the questions out in just an hour with a vintage sports cards expert, like Michael Salfino from The Athletic, but we do our best!

At first, we discuss his background and how we connected, including our time together writing about baseball cards over at The Athletic. But we also knew each other from competing in Tout Wars before that, which is one of the most competitive Fantasy Baseball leagues in the world!

We also discuss Salfino’s picks for his “Elite 8” vintage players and his rankings of who he believes are the eight greatest Topps-era vintage players whose cards we should be collecting. (The origin of this discussion was because he found my video on “The Dandy Dozen,” where I ranked my 12 favorite players whose cards people should collect.)

The podcast stays true to helping out sports card collectors who are working with a limited budget! Michael shares the guts of an upcoming article, where he lists one card for 12 superstar vintage players (seven baseball players, three football players and two basketball players) valued around $100 that we should pick up.
