  • Singer/Songwriter night Sunday at HoDo
It was a tough weather night but Darrin Wentz host of the Sunday Singer Songwriter night and one of this Sunday's guest made it in through the blizzard to chat about this long standing tradition of music in town. And Jake played us a couple of tunes as well.
A fun night as the April snow came falling down.
Jake Ingamar and Darrin Wentz brave the blizzard and joined us in studio.

  • Pulitzer Prize winning author Mark Obmascik
It's called Attu! The western most part of the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska. The weather is always terrible. It was barely inhabited. Yet Japan attacked and took the island in 1943.
It's the true story of two soldiers, one who was an established surgeon in Los Angeles who was drafted when he returned to Japan for a family emergency.
The other was a soldier named Laird from Ohio, who ends up on a mission to get the island back.
A diary is found after the death of the surgeon and a little book filled with names of friends and relatives in the U.S.
After decades of nightmares Laird sets out to find the daughter of the man he killed, a man whose heart is in savings lives, and wanting to return to live a life in the U.S.
It's a fantastic book, highly research and a real winner for Mark Obmascik.

  • Amazing Sports Collectibles
A big thank you to Jack Michaels for setting up this interview with Ben Weingarten. Ben has a wonderful collection of sports memorabilia and sports photographs.
It all started with baseball cards, but with Ben it has certainly branch out.
We hear about his collection, some tips to keep in mind, and we even took phone calls.
    Ben will definitely be back.
Here are some of the items he brought into studio:
Top of photo is his bat used by Hank Aaron, which he will soon be getting autographed in Wisconsin.
Bottom left is photo from exactly 45 years ago. Hank Aaron hit #715 on April 8th 1974.  Hank is starting his home run trot, while  pitcher Al Downing stands on the mound.
Bottom right is a photo of Babe Ruth from 1921 taken by legendary photographer Charles Conlon. The Babe autographed this photo to Eddie Collins and has a Conlon watermark on the back of the photo.
Notice personalized note to Eddie Collins!

  • Let's go to Sweden
How does Willie Nelson say it "On the Road Again"... Alicia Underlee Nelson is in Gothenburg Sweden, the 2nd largest city in the country.
Beautiful landscape, hiking and touring opportunities, wonderful waterways, food and of course wonderful craft beer. (Alicia has written a book on ND Beer).
BTW Sweden has something called a congestion tax, that's most travel using the trolley!
The weather has been great in a country where almost everyone speaks English.
Alicia also got a surprise while she was there...her ancestry results are back and guess what?
