Dr. Patrice Cani, is a Professor at UCL in Brussels, Belgium, and group leader in the Metabolism and Nutrition Research Group at the Louvain Drug Research Institute. Dr. Cani has two masters in Human Nutrition and Health Sciences as well as a Phd in Biomedical Studies. On top of that, he is the author and co author of more than 290 scientific research publications. His main area of research is into how our gut health influences metabolic conditions including obesity and diabetes. We talk about his motto “In Gut we Trust”, how gut health influences not only metabolic disorders, but also cognitive and mental health. We speak on Prebiotics and Probiotics and their contribution to our Microbiomes, as well as delving into some evidence based recommendations to improve our gut health.

Today I speak with Carey Gillam, who is an American investigative journalist and author with more than 30 years of experience covering food and agricultural policies and practices. Gilliam has won several industry and literary awards for her work, her first book “Whitewash- The Story of a Weed Killer, Cancer and the Corruption of Science” is largely what we speak about today, while also touching on the current legal battles which are brought into much more detail in her next book "The Monsanto Papers" releasing March 2nd. Gillam has been asked to speak all over the world about food and agricultural matters, including before the European Parliament in Brussels, the World Forum for Democracy in Strasbourg, and much more. I hope this conversation sheds some light on the current agricultural system and how to make better decisions as it pertains to what we eat, and who we support.
