Reality star Kim Kardarshian West has publicly addressed her husband Kanye West’s struggles with bipolar disorder and asked that “the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this.” The statement – posted on her instagram stories – follows several days of unpredictable tweeting from West, including several since-deleted tweets in which he said he’s been trying to divorce her. In the statement she says ‘"Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behaviour know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor. "People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgemental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try." Ciara chats to Brendan Kelly is Professor of Psychiatry at Trinity College Dublin and hears from listeners
