Episode Title:-🇸🇪Volvo’s 100% Fossil Free Roadmap🇸🇪
In this week’s episode of Heads Talk, I am joined by Henrik Engdahl, Chief Charging Engineer for Volvo Group. This is the continuation of the #HTAutomotiveSeries.
Henrik provided forensic details on vehicle technology development as well as Volvo Group’s advancement in other domains. We briefly touched upon the policy side of things and Henrik laid out his preferences and well as points for concerns going forward.
The bottom up perspective was analysed. Meaning: Trucks are operated by humans, usually owned by small companies (with limited economic headroom) with short term contracts to logistic specialists (Kuehne + Nagel International AG, Maersk, DFDS etc) which are in term contracted by the smallest to the largest entities of the economy (single households to multinational corporations). This brings an interesting (and challenging) dynamic to the topic of decarbonising goods transport. In the end the costs must be carried by the consumer (who is currently benefiting from the externalised cost of CO2-emissions), but how should we get there? Who will take the lead and how will they (economically) benefit from the transition?
So, my listeners are in for a treat with the insights they will gain from someone working at a leadership level in one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, buses, marine and industrial engines.
