Shame, shame, I know your name! That pesky low-vibe trickster always has a way of making us hit pause. But here's the clever twist: when we notice how shame tiptoes in the shadows, we can invite it into the spotlight and mend the damage it leaves behind.

With the launch of his new book, Captains Wanted, Andres Schabelman tells the story of what happens when people are willing to embark on a new journey. After building an impressive career, he made the courageous choice to redefine success on his own terms—and tells the story of what happens when people are willing to follow a new path.
In this thoughtful and deeply human discussion, Brooks and Andres explore the power of understanding our emotions, the freedom that comes with rewriting old definitions of success, and the healing magic of genuine connection. They remind us that curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to step into the unknown can be some of life’s greatest teachers.
And in case you’re wondering, here’s just a glimpse of Andres’ fascinating journey (because trust me, there’s so much more to the story):
✨ Earned his Master’s in Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School.
✨ One of the first 30 employees at Airbnb, back when it was still an experiment in trust and adventure.
✨ A mentor who reflects back the truths we sometimes need help seeing.
✨ A passionate builder of solutions that bring people together in real, meaningful ways.
This conversation is a beautiful blend of wisdom, warmth, and insight—one you won’t want to miss.

More about Samantha Turner
Samantha, a Tennessee native and intuitive healer, has embarked on a journey to fully embrace her lifelong passion after years dedicated to a military career, starting a family, and overcoming chronic illness. Born with extrasensory perceptions, she did not fully understand the depth of her abilities until her twenties. Highly empathic—particularly with animals—Samantha has the ability to perceive energy fields and experience spirit through sight, scent, and sensation. However, these profound experiences were often challenging to navigate, leading her to suppress them in order to fit in. Like many, she focused on conventional pursuits during her teenage years, immersing herself in sports and college preparation. Driven by a deep sense of duty, she ultimately chose to serve in the military, attending the United States Military Academy and commissioning as a Military Intelligence Officer in 2017. Now, she is embracing her true calling, using her gifts to guide and support others on their own paths of healing and self-discovery.
No relationship is effortless, but when these two met, everything just clicked! Both were already happy and thriving on their own, totally in love with themselves and their lives. They had even reached the point of thinking, If this is as good as it gets, I’m totally okay with that!
Brooks was on the lookout for her person, while Paul was wondering if he was even datable—and fate (or rather, Bumble) brought them together after both had gone through divorces. What happened next? Well, that’s where this beautiful love story begins! 💛✨
Don’t worry if you haven’t made significant progress on your goals this January—it’s okay to take a step back, recalibrate, and adjust to where you are right now. Remember to be kind to yourself and others; we’re all connected, navigating a lot in our world. Support others by holding space for them, but don’t forget to protect your energy, cleanse it when needed, and prioritize your own well-being.
This episode begins with light hearted stories about our life in the Mormon church and the adventures we encountered in Alaska. We established “The Ladies of Light” and hosted the “It’s Gettin Dark” party. We built a community that became our source of strength and laughter. These moments of connection reminded us that even in the darkest seasons, friendship and shared experiences could create warmth and light.
Amid these experiences, deeper questions began to emerge. We started to question everything we had known and believed. Was this feeling of unease normal? Were the struggles we faced unique to us, or were they unfolding in other homes as well? Recognizing that something was profoundly wrong, we grappled with how to move forward.
This journey of questioning and self-discovery became as transformative as the Alaskan landscape itself. It forced us to confront difficult truths, seek understanding, and chart a path toward healing and growth. What began as a battle against external darkness led us to confront the shadows within, igniting a journey of empowerment and renewal.
Join us for an enlightening discussion on the power of boundaries in relationships. Together, we’ll explore how setting clear boundaries fosters respect, strengthens communication, and nurtures healthier connections—whether with children, adults, or colleagues. Learn to assert your worth while creating spaces for mutual understanding and meaningful dialogue.
Discover how personal loss became a gateway to exploring Reiki and energy healing. This journey unveils the deep connection between emotions, trauma, and the physical body, offering transformative tools for healing and empowerment in everyday life. Embrace the potential to realign your energy and reclaim your well-being.
