Spring is in the air and we've got your bottoms and tops covered…in green. Why does this matter? Today, 85 percent of the clothing people dispose of ends up in landfills, totaling 14.3 million tons of textile waste each year, 95% of which could be reused or recycled. Someone who is here to shed light on these fashion fails went from rocking the runway to greening the poolside with her new line of swim and lifestyle that focuses on sustainable values, principles, and philanthropic initiatives.
Andrea Bernholtz is making waves in the waste-filled fashion industry. From co-founding the luxury denim line, Rock & Republic, in 2002 to sharing insights with US Weekly's Fashion Police, her new ultra-comfortable swimwear features a soft, luxurious nylon fabric proudly made from post-consumer plastics. Plus, the SWIMINISTA brand offers a convenient "Try at Home" solution that eliminates the soul-destroying try-on process.
Andrea shares her humble green beginnings, her company's eco-conscious efforts, and what sets Swiminista apart from other swimwear brands in the market today including a customized fit for every body shape.

Every year, millions of men, women, and children are trafficked in countries around the world, including the United States. Victims are trafficked for sexual exploitation, forced labor, forced criminal activity, coerced into begging, forced marriages, organ removal, and other purposes. Globally, one in every three victims detected is a child. Girls are mainly trafficked for sexual exploitation, while men/boys are used for forced labor.
Tonya is a survivor, activist, humanitarian, advocate, speaker, trainer, and author. She shares her harrowing journey and leaves our listeners with signs to look out for, and how her organization, It's Going to Be Ok offers resources, support, and help to trafficked victims.

Have you ever wondered if the product you pick up at a store to slather on you or your child's skin is safe? Today's consumers must go far beyond reading a label. We now require trusted and reliable sources to keep us safe from marketing names and terms that sound or look and environmentally friendly, but maybe anything but. Our guest today, Amy Ziff, is the founder and Executive Director of Nontoxic Certified & the MADE SAFE® certification; America's first comprehensive certification program that screens out known toxic ingredients in everything from baby and bedding to personal care products, cosmetics, and cleaners. MADE SAFE was the first and only seal that applies to all non-food consumer product categories. Their banned list includes a rigorous 6,500 substances that are prohibited in any product earning the coveted MADE SAFE certification. A mom and prior self-proclaimed weekend toxicologist and label sleuth, Amy turned the industry on its head by demanding accountability from the brands we should trust. Amy explains why we can't rely on the government to protect us and our families and what you should look for and avoid to shop safely and stay healthy.
Research shows that there is a strong relationship between our physical spaces and our mental wellbeing. Our environments – including our offices and homes - impact the way we think, feel and behave.
It turns out, by using colors consciously in your space and understanding the meanings and influence of colors on the human mind and body you can enhance the psychology of your space to improve your wellbeing, health, and happiness. Mehnaz Khan, the founder of Color Conscious Living, is here to help us take a hard look at how colors impact our thoughts and actions on an everyday basis and how the colors in our home are impacting our behaviors and emotions. Mehnaz is an interior designer with a focus on color and design psychology. She uses color as a wellness tool to help women create a stress-free and restful home so that they can be more productive, sleep better and cope with everyday anxiety.
Mehnaz shares how we can use the power of colors to create a positive environment in our home that is in alignment with our subconscious mind, why a neutral color palette may not be right for you, why we like or dislike particular colors during certain periods of our life and color tips when selling or renting a home.
Did you know there are over 6 billion bacteria, including 700 different species that reside inside our mouth or what scientists term the Human Oral Microbiome? While some bacteria are helpful, others are harmful and can lead to all types of oral health issues such as cavities, tooth decay, and gum disease. Our special guest today is a holistic dentist. Holistic dentistry doesn't treat your dental health as separate from your physical health. Instead, it focuses on the impacts your whole health might have on your oral health. Unlike traditional dentists, holistic dentists don't favor the use of fluoride treatments and are also opposed to using amalgam materials for dental implants which contain mercury. Instead, they use Composite fillings which are tooth-colored and don't discolor the tooth, contain mercury, and are made from non-toxic material.
Dr. Karaneh Jahan attended Oregon Health and Science University where she obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. She is a certified Holistic Health and Lifestyle coach. She runs Brio Dental, in Portland which provides holistic general and cosmetic dentistry serving the whole person—from self-care to oral care and beyond.
