Heaving Bosoms

Hey HBs! Shante is here to help Mel recap Girl Gone Viral by Alisha Rai! Supremely private Katrina has just gone viral for a fictional meet-cute and the only one who can save her is her bodyguard and crush. Can their escape turn into a steamy meet-cute?

Bonus Content: men who leave their trash for someone else to clean up, sexy eyebrows, presidential pardons, and so much more!

Lady Loves:

Shante: watch shows or movies while facetiming with people you love!

Mel: If you can, just do the thing that will make you succeed. Mel joined a yoga studio because the truth is, not matter how much she tries, apps at home just aren't going to happen.

Hy HBs! Meredith is hereeeee and she has brought us many treats! We're recapping Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree (who is maybe the overall winner of any NaNoWriMo ever?). This high fatasy with low stakes is EXACTLY what I needed! Who knew I would love 300 pages of watching someone slowly build a coffee shop? There's themes of reinvention, found family, finding your place, the zen of an honest day's work, and so much more! Plus, two! Perfect! Kisses!

Bonus content: now Mel understands why people like make-work games, this is the slowest and most comfy and still most interesting book, capturing the romance of the mundane, fabulous sensory descriptions, and so much more!

Lady Loves:

Mel: Huge batches of iced tea!

Meredith: spend money on things that make you happy. Will you love floating multiple times this summer? Buy the season pass! AND Pocket Books in Lancaster, PA! A Queer Femme owned bookstore (owned by 3 besties!). You can visit in-person or buy online!

Sabriiiiina is here to recap The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole! It's the first in the Immortals After Dark series and we're here to say... maybe don't skip it! We've got two immortals, one femme fatale, one warlord hot dummy, FATE, savage goodbyes, memorable reunions, VERY questionable/dubious/non-existent consent (also enthusiastic consent), and so much more! Could this be viewed as problematic? Sure. Did we super love it? Very yes.

Bonus content: series hopping and existential crises, Forebears/Four Bears, brains while reading, noodle fuckery, and more.

Lady Loves:

Sabrina: 360 degree rolling suitcases. What a revelation!

Mel: #plantdad instagram (also #plantdaddy). And specifically @theplantpapi. Such a good follow!

THE TWINS ARE HERE!!!! Kimberly Lemming and Alexis the Sword join Mel to recap Crow by A Zavarelli! Irish Mafia, missing BFF, scrappy boxer's daughter orphan, MAGNETIC ATTRACTION, Russian Mafia, basement Dexters, pole dancing!, and Rob Zombie lap dances.

CW: sexual assault, violence against women, and mentions of child abuse in a later book in the series.

Look, Mel loved book. Kim and Alexis, not so much. But the great thing is, there's room in romance for everyone! Serious reminder: we chat as if the characters are real people and we're three friends gossiping about them. We talk about our personal reading experience and we hold space for people who love books we don't and loathe books we worship. Unless there's harm being done, our opinions are not a commentary on the author or the quality of the book.

Bonus content: is this the whitest book we've read in a minute?, mafia social media managers, child fight clubs, Living Dead Girls, I repeat: Basement Dexters, and so much more!

GO READ KIM'S NEWEST BOOK! That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Human is just as imaginative and delicious as the first two in the series and stars a character I've been waiting eagerly for! Plus, the saddest rich boy dragon who is the perfect autistic king. It's a romp and you need it!!!!!!!!

HBs, we're back with this delicious display! Display of what? Still not totally sure! All we know is we loved almost every second of it.

Bonus Content: applause post-first sexytimes, Two Face, and so much more!

Lady Loves:

Naima: Charlize Theron always. She makes an excellent St. Vincent.

Mel: Check on your thermoses! Maybe they say "push to clean" and you don't have to deal with weird, dangerous tastes for weeks. Don't be an illiterate bridge troll!

Oh golly! Your pal and mine Naima Simone has turned this into a Yoshi Appreciation Podcast. That's right, she's back to talk about our new problematic fave Through My Window on Netflix! This dubbed classic is a new adult stalking extravaganza that gave us all the delicious conflicting feelings! It's Venezuelan Twilight and we're not mad about it.

Content Warnings: stalking, emotional abuse by a romantic partner maybe?, parental emotional abuse for sure, the perpetuation of the predatory teenage girl (who is actually being victimized) trope, underage tighty whiteys (I'm not being cute, it legitimately bothered me).

Part 2 is next week!

Big THANK YOU to our new patrons Monica H, Amy H, Heather, Brittany C, Kimberly, hottennispro88, Jocelyn G, Carrie SH, and Erin F!

Hey y'all! It's part 3 of The Bride! The final part! This last 20% of the book is so action packed that it'll make your head spin.

Bonus Content: demanding bribes for adulting, severe aversions to heights, necrophilia jokes that Mel understands right in front of you, Sabrina putting the mystery's puzzle pieces together in real time, and so much more!

Don't miss out on the Dangerous Tides Kickstarter! It ends this week!

Lady Loves:

Mel: Hoopla! OMG! Librarian HBs, if you know of a way for Sabrina and other rural HBs to get Hoopla, email us!

Sabrina: space operas with giant, complicated, overarching plots. Inspired by The Zion Warrior series by Regine Abel, Susan Trombley, and more.
