In this episode of Miranda speaks with LaToya Hobbs. LaToya is a Professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD whose portraits explore the intersection of race, beauty and identity in women of African descent and is the recent winner of the 2020 Janet and Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize. We talk about her childhood in Little Rock, AR and how her love of dance and the body led her to create intimate, figurative, and extremely intricate relief prints which reexamine the traditional relationships of artist, model, and viewer. We also talk about self-care while being an artist, a homeschool teacher, a mom, and a professor.LaToya's websitehttp://www.latoyamhobbs.com/LaToya's instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/latoyahobbsShop Talkwww.patreon.com/helloprintfriendYOUTUBEwww.youtube.com/channel/UCOMIT3guY5PjHj1M7GApouwMERCHwww.teepublic.com/user/helloprintfriendWEBSITEwww.helloprintfriend.cominstagramwww.instagram.com/helloprintfriendprint galleryhelloprintfriend.com/print-gallery✨patreon✨www.patreon.com/helloprintfriendOur sponsor Speedballwww.speedballart.com
