  • episode 14 : jenny robinson
In this episode Miranda speaks with Jenny Robinson about her childhood growing up in Borneo and when the colours and warmth of the equator came to an abrupt end after she was shipped off to a Catholic boarding school in England. While that displacement may have been the greatest culture shock of her life, globe-trotting remains a big part of who she is. She spent years in her twenties traveling around India and Southeast Asia and doing it all solo after ditching her ex-boyfriend at the Bombay train station two weeks into the trip. Robinson also talks about her deep printmaker pride, her love of paper and inks, and goes into detail as to how she developed a drypoint method that allows her to work very large and on a budget.[notes]Jenny's website:https://www.jennyrobinson.com/Jenny's Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/jennyrobinsonprints/Jenny at Davidson Galleries:https://www.davidsongalleries.com/artists/contemporary/jenny-robinson/Jenny at Kala:http://www.kala.org/artpress_artist/jenny-l-robinson/Shop Talkwww.patreon.com/helloprintfriendYOUTUBEwww.youtube.com/channel/UCOMIT3guY5PjHj1M7GApouwMERCHwww.teepublic.com/user/helloprintfriendWEBSITEwww.helloprintfriend.cominstagramwww.instagram.com/helloprintfriendprint galleryhelloprintfriend.com/print-gallery✨patreon✨www.patreon.com/helloprintfriendOur sponsor Speedballwww.speedballart.com

  • episode 12 : patrick wagner of black heart press
In this episode Miranda speaks with Patrick Wagner of Black Heart Press. Patrick is a lithographer, teacher, and sauna enthusiast from Germany living in Stockholm. We talk about his early days learning lithography from Alois Senefelder's treatise while at a small art school in Romania and the guerrilla litho teaching group it spawned which eventually got him kicked out of school. As well as the beautiful international connections the sharing of printmaking knowledge brings and the devastating fire which destroyed his entire archive of work. Patrick has an incredible deadpan humour which makes this episode a particularly delightful listen.[notes]Black Heart Press Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/blackheartpress/Black Heart Press Tumblrhttp://blackheartpress.tumblr.com/Art Sauna Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/artsauna/ Ernst Hanke Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/hankeernstShop Talkwww.patreon.com/helloprintfriendYOUTUBEwww.youtube.com/channel/UCOMIT3guY5PjHj1M7GApouwMERCHwww.teepublic.com/user/helloprintfriendWEBSITEwww.helloprintfriend.cominstagramwww.instagram.com/helloprintfriendprint galleryhelloprintfriend.com/print-gallery✨patreon✨www.patreon.com/helloprintfriendOur sponsor Speedballwww.speedballart.com

  • episode 11 : wendy orville
In this episode Miranda speaks with Wendy Orville, a monotype artist who creates breathtaking prints which capture the drama and tension of where the sky meets the earth. They are mysterious and alive compositions unlike anything else out there today. Orville talks about her process-driven practice and seeing failures in the studio as just more information. She also discusses how becoming a mother influenced her creative process transforming her into a more relaxed and intuitive artist. It allowed her to give up the need for control and replace it with the permission to make the work that she truly wanted to make.[notes]Wendy Orville's websitehttp://wendyorville.com/Shop Talkwww.patreon.com/helloprintfriendYOUTUBEwww.youtube.com/channel/UCOMIT3guY5PjHj1M7GApouwMERCHwww.teepublic.com/user/helloprintfriendWEBSITEwww.helloprintfriend.cominstagramwww.instagram.com/helloprintfriendprint galleryhelloprintfriend.com/print-gallery✨patreon✨www.patreon.com/helloprintfriendOur sponsor Speedballwww.speedballart.com

  • episode 8 : keith secola | mino mashikiki wish ghan
In this episode Miranda speaks with Keith Secola a Northern Ute/Anishiaabe printmaker currently based in the Bay Area. Secola’s printmaking practice is critique of text, images, and persuasion as it relates to history. He screenprints large-scale photographs from his family’s archive onto covers from publications of romanticised tales of early America often with wrapped views on the indigenous populations. Thus he physically and philosophically obscures and overrides these stories with a history from the voice of the subjects.[notes]Website:https://www.keithsecolajr.com/Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/mino_mashkikiPostcolonial Revenge Exhibition:http://missionculturalcenter.org/?event=postcolonial-revenge-exhibition&event_date=2019-02-23Institute of American Indian Artshttps://iaia.edu/Kala Art Institutehttp://www.kala.org/Shop Talkwww.patreon.com/helloprintfriendYOUTUBEwww.youtube.com/channel/UCOMIT3guY5PjHj1M7GApouwMERCHwww.teepublic.com/user/helloprintfriendWEBSITEwww.helloprintfriend.cominstagramwww.instagram.com/helloprintfriendprint galleryhelloprintfriend.com/print-gallery✨patreon✨www.patreon.com/helloprintfriendOur sponsor Speedballwww.speedballart.com
