We are taught from Colossians 3:8 that we are to put off filthy communication- the unkind ways we respond to others.

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:"
Proverbs 2:10-11

Discretion, or discernment, which results from wisdom preserves--protects, guards, and keeps--us. It delivers us from the evil influences around us. It allows us to recognize those things that threaten to turn our hearts from the Lord and destroy our fellowship with Him. We must exercise wisdom by taking everything in our lives through the filter of God's Word. Put it to the test!

This verse always comes to my mind when I think of a wise woman. 

Proverbs 14:1
“A wise woman buildeth her house, but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”

Join Quortney as she gives us a list from Proverbs that we can use to check ourselves to see if we are building up or tearing down our home.

1. The wise woman builds her house upon a rock and the foolish builds hers on the sand.

2. The wise woman knows her place in the home and strives to fulfill it. The foolish woman knows her place and yet, does her own thing.

3. The wise woman seeks and hears good counsel. The foolish woman thinks she knows it all and is always right.

4. The wise woman walks with the wise. The foolish woman is a companion of fools.

5. The wise woman is slow to anger and has self control. The foolish woman is hasty and can be known to use the word “venting” as an excuse

6. A wise woman fears and departs from evil. The foolish woman is wreck-less and careless in the presence of evil.

7. The wise woman will cease from strife. The foolish woman will meddle in it.

8. The wise woman knows how to use her tongue for knowledge. The mouth of the foolish woman just pours out foolishness.

9. The wise woman studies her steps. The foolish woman believes everything she hears.

I think many times Christians feel like wisdom can be unattainable or for the elite. I know there have been times when I was first married or first in ministry or when i first had babies and would think,  “If I just knew the answer.”

I Corinthians 1:30 says,“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:”  If we have Christ Jesus living inside of us, we already have His wisdom. It’s a treasure that He’s given us.

Proverbs 4:7

 Wisdom is the right use or exercise of knowledge—the knowledge of God’s Word. If we are going to “get wisdom” as Proverbs 4:7 commands, we need to actively seek it by reading and studying God’s Word. Join me today as we take a closer look at wisdom and our part in "getting" it as found in Proverbs 2.
