Agh, we're so old now. So old that our episodes come out a day late. Because we're old and have a hard time getting around, you see. It also damages the quality of stream-of-consciousness rants, apparently. I have a big dessert thing I plan on bringing to work tomorrow to share, and I'm trying to figure out how to transport it there. For some reason my brain wants to devote more attention to that than to communicating to you, our dear listeners. And for that, I am sorry. Hopefully this episode makes it up to you, featuring two more listener emails, some milestones, an exciting announcements, and 3 riveting tales of guys. We hear about a paragliding enthusiast who brought the joys of his hobby to the masses whether they wanted it or not, an oil rig accident that went worse than even you probably think, and a random Soviet officer you've never heard of who saved all of humanity by keeping cool under pressure.

Ever see someone acting foolish in public and get real bent out of shape about it? Today an extremely nerdy kid in his school uniform at Target nearly collided with me because he was making a weird face and doing a silly walk. Shit pissed me off. I'm just trying to buy some cat food and sparkling water and beard shampoo (which I couldn't even find!). If you've ever had something like that, this episode should do a nice job putting that into perspective, as the theme of the week appears to be "tremendously bad behavior." We start buy answering emails from out lovely listeners, then it quickly devolves. We hear about the most notorious "psychic" scammer of all time, a chemist who created not one but two inventions that ruined the world, and a World of Warcraft player whose in-game funeral quickly went south.

Wow. That's all I can say. Somehow we've topped ourselves yet again. How do we keep doing it? Every week, people think "this is the best a podcast could possibly be, if I ever listen to a podcast episode better than this it will blow me freaking mind." And they're right to do so. And yet, they're always wrong, because every week, we up the standard. We change the game. Right, here, at Here's a Guy, we're forging new paths every week. It's not only our pleasure, but we feel it's an obligation, to better society and our culture as a whole. For that, all we can say is this, don't thank us. You're already welcome. Anyway, we start off this episode by discussing fast casual restaurants, and give a special happy birthday to our friend Mitch by sharing our favorite Mitch moments. Then it's three fascinating stories, from the organized labor hero whose death sparked an Appalachian guerilla war, a Kentucky doctor who found himself involved in not one but two bizarre mysteries (one solved and one not), and a ridiculously successful horse jockey/cocaine enthusiast with an inspiring redemption arc.

Dun dun dun dun! Dun nun, nun nun....Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun! Duuun nun nun nuuun! (That's the Monday Night Football theme, we were going to do it on the episode, but we have enough problems, the last thing we need is a copyright situation.) It's pigskin season, and we're kicking it off with a lengthy opening discussion about some of our favorite football memories, then the story of a guy whose NFL career was so bad that it indirectly changed the sport forever. We also have two unrelated topics. One is about a forum poster who successfully campaigned to exile a celebrity to the wilderness, the other is about a frontier personality whose pure spite seemed to give him superhuman abilities. We hope this episode is a touchdown!!! (Football)

I'm currently lying in bed writing this, because I nearly forgot to actually upload the episode after editing it. Cool! My cat Freddy is sitting serenely next to me, like a sphynx. Everyone reading this should say "good boy Freddy" out loud. He can't hear you obviously but I like to imagine he feels it spiritually. I ate some Cinnamon Toast Crunch after we finished recording, I'm hoping it doesn't affect the quality of my sleep. Can't be having weird milk dreams all night. Hey, speaking of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, we start off this episode with discussion of early pandemic-era food controversies on twitter, plus the guy from The Monkees taking on the deep state. Then, 3 more fascinating tales this week, from a prime minister whose death was commemorated with repeated cruel irony, a woman whose tragic and strange car crash death remains a source of controversy today, and a legendary early football coach with an all-time great hater achievement.

Hello everyone. Welcome to another fun, fun episode of Here's a Guy. (He said it! He said the thing!) It's back to school season! Well, not for us actually. Or any of the rest of our viewers who are not in school. For us, we have work. Work is like school, except it's all the time, but you do make money, yet it still manages to be worse. But you'll be ok. Also, don't listen to this show if you are a child. It is very bad for you. And it's not even cool like other things that are bad for you, such as cigarettes and beer. Ah, nevertheless. This is a highly wacky episode, featuring some school shenanigans from our youth, the actor behind a unique baseball mascot gimmick, a woman whose life resembled a rather unfortunate vaudeville show, and an extra crazy extra German doctor who innovated heart surgery in an absurd way. (Plus a couple quick bonus stories!)

It's another week, and that means another Here's a Guy. Isn't it cool how that works? We're all very tired. And yet, here we are doing this week after week for all of your entertainment. I like to think this makes us heroes. We need our own flag. Can't see how that bit could ever backfire. Recently I've been getting into corn nuts, then today, I found out they treat their workers like crap so we're boycotting them. What a depressing world. Where else will I fulfill my cravings for delicious salty snacks that feel like taking a jackhammer to our teeth? Well, anyway. Three pretty zany topics this week, including the eventful life of a prominent English train robber, a governor who found a unique way to response to a mass UFO sighting, and a surprising (and adorable) hero in World War II. Oh, and some college lore that involves us actually being upstanding people for once.

Hey hey hey, we're back from vaca! Well, except for Cody, who is back, but not from vaca, just from normal life. We're all refreshed and ready to bring you that sweet, sweet Here's a Guy content. After recapping the news we missed and commemorating the anniversary of a particular incident involving Dave Matthews Band, we have 3 wild tales of all varieties. JackJohn tells us about yet another fake bearded bank robber, Cody tells us about an activist who infiltrated then exposed the Ku Klux Klan, and Alex tells us about an NBA player whose inspirational life story was sullied when he punched an opponent so hard it nearly killed him.

Heyoooo, we're back. The 40th episode! Isn't that something. Well, I think this is a good one. In fact, I'm so exhausted from recording it that I'm having trouble coming up with pithy remarks here. Is the bit losing steam? Not in your dreams, people. We start things off with a bumper sticker update from our friend Jeremy, a Chance the Snapper update from our friend Pookie, and a twitter menchies update from our friend John. Then, 3 fantastic weeks of guys, from a wrestler whose year of storylines in 1999 was perhaps the craziest in history, a guy who just disappeared for awhile and came back for no apparent reason, and a bank robber who went on a tear across Chicago using a surprising disguise.

Welcome back to another episode of Here's a Guy. For this one, you may be well-served to turn the lights down and curl up with your most comforting blanket and your intoxicant of choice. That's right, our topics this week are three absolutely grimly awful guys, each in their own special way (and no I'm not talking about the hosts of this show, don't even make that joke you dickwads). First, we try to lighten the mood by discussing weird bumper stickers and more questionable Google search terms that lead people to our show, plus JackJohn addresses the allegations from last week's episode. Then it's a headfirst dive into three stories of terrible guys throughout history, from a 15th century religious figure who may have laid the foundation for both witch trials and incels, to a senator who experienced the consequences of being a pro-slavery official in the North during the Civil War, to a guy in upsettingly recent times who became convinced that his wife had been stolen by fairies and replaced with a changeling.
