My guest today is Jennifer Stensaas. She's the Marketing Communications Coordinator for Feeding South Dakota. She's been working there since 2008 and is responsible for the implementation of Feeding South Dakota's marketing and public relation initiatives, coordinating statewide communication efforts to inform the media, donors, community leaders, policymakers, and other stakeholders about issues and policies affecting feeding South Dakota's hunger relief efforts. Today we talk about the differences between food banks and food pantries. What is food insecurity, signs of childhood hunger, how COVID-19 has impacted food banks and how we can help.

My guest today is Baruch Zeichner. He has a bachelor's degree in psychology and education and a master's degree in counseling psychology. Baruch has practiced psychotherapy, massage therapy and body oriented psychotherapy for more than 25 years. His father was also a psychologist and his mother was an activist. Baruch has participated in many community and political activities from a very young age, ranging from anti-nuclear activism to peace activism, working with local teenagers and drug and alcohol abuse prevention, date rape and sexual assault prevention and HIV support. Today Baruch and I will be talking about his own journey towards inner peace, about the mental health stigma and how it especially affects men and Western society and how you can use this unexpected downtime for your own healing journey.

My guest today is Kelsey Ducheneaux, a fourth generation tribal rancher and the Cheyenne river Sioux nation. Kelsey's passion is working directly with land managers and producers and promoting regenerative agricultural practices. She is the owner of DX Beef, a sustainable cattle company and her family farm DX Ranch also houses project help a nonprofit that supports youth by enhancing life skills through thoughtful horsemanship practices. Kelsey received her bachelor's of science degree in range land management from South Dakota state university, then her master's of agriculture degree and integrated resource management from Colorado state university. Kelsey is also the natural resources director at the intertribal agriculture council, an organization that conducts a wide range of programs designed to further the goal of improving Indian agriculture. The IAC promotes the Indian use of Indian resources and contracts with federal agencies to maximize resources for tribal members. One of my dear friends and former employees, Courtney now works at the intertribal agricultural council as well, and put me in touch with Kelsey for this episode on conserving and developing indigenous agriculture resources.

My guest today is Danielle Thompson, a 25 year old entrepreneur and digital nomad. She's been traveling the world full time for the last four years while building and running an entirely remote six figure design agency whose work has been seen by over 100 million people. After finding success in her design agency, Danielle decided to start teaching others how to work online and travel too. She's on a mission to empower 1 million freelancers by teaching creatives the business skills they need to get work that inspires them. Danielle is also dedicated to her personal development and passionate about human betterment. Today she'll be sharing her experience with psychedelic plants like ayahuasca and how they transformed her life.

Today's episode is a repost of an Instagram live I did it just a couple of days ago with my dear friend Jamie Nicolini, owner of the sustainable supply company, The Collective in Des Moines, Iowa. Jamie and I met in April, 2019 when I spoke about reducing your environmental impact at the Des Moines Vegan Fest, which she helped organize. Then the day after the vegan fest, she took me out to breakfast to pick my brain and we ended up sitting there for like eight or nine hours talking about opening a zero waste store, our struggles with alcohol, our journey to veganism and so much more and we've been friends ever since. Then last summer she opened her own brick and mortar store in Des Moines and of course she stocks my Bestowed Essentials products there. We both get so many questions about what it's like running a zero waste business and how we got started. My guest today is Leslie Samuelrich, the president of Green Century Capital Management. She leads by focusing on the firm's investment strategies, business development and impact investing program. The Green Century Funds have experienced 570% growth under her leadership. Ms Samuelrich holds a BA in economics from Boston College and has more than 25 years of experience in ESG investing, corporate engagement and environmental and public health advocacy. Her comments have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, the New York Times, Responsible Investor, Barons, and many other outlets. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment and the advisory board of the Intentional Endowments Network. She has a guest lecture on impact investing at the Wharton school and annually presents at dozens of national and regional industry conferences and events. Ms Samuelrich was honored with the 2019 SRI service award, which recognizes an individual who has demonstrated leadership innovation, high standards of professional conduct and accomplishment and collaboration with other SRI industry leaders. She was also selected as one of the 43 world changing women and conscious business in 2020.

My guest today is Ayana Young, a podcast and radio personality specializing in intersectional environmental and social justice, deep ecology and land-based restoration with an undergraduate degree from Loyola Marymount University, including a double major in art history and theology and a minor in philosophy as well as education through Columbia university and ecology and Eastern religions plus restoration ecology at the university of Victoria. Young has a strong academic background at the intersections of ecology, culture and spirituality. Postgraduate dividends from her early career allowed Ayana to conserve 500 acres of coastal Redwood and salmon habitat in Northern California where she's been living for over five years, the first few years in a tent with no electricity or running water as she established a homestead and broke ground on a native species nursery and research center. Ayana Young is also the founder and executive director of millennial media organization and nonprofit For the Wild.

My guest today is Tahmina Watson owner of Watson immigration law to Tahmina obtained her law degree in 2000 and became a barrister in London in 2002. She relocated to the United States in 2005 where she was admitted to the New York bar in 2006. Prior to founding her law firm Tahmina was a partner at White and Watson until 2008 practicing exclusively in the area of U S immigration and naturalization law. Before that Tahmina externed with his honor judge Ricardo Martinez at the district court of Western Washington and downtown Seattle Tahmina is admitted to practice law in Washington state and the state of New York. She has also admitted to the federal court of Western district of Washington. Tahmina currently serves as chair of the response committee of the Washington chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, a committee she helped create after the November, 2016 election. She currently serves on the board of trustee for the King County Bar Association. In addition Tahmina recently helped form a nonprofit organization called WIDEN Washington Immigrant Defense Network, which combined skills of immigration and non immigration lawyers to help detainees. Her other community activities includes serving on the board of Point Hope, an organization that helps children. She is an active member of the pro bono community in Seattle and often provides free legal advice at local legal clinics. Furthermore, she is an active supporter of Chaya, a Seattle based nonprofit organization that assists battered women from a South Asian background. Tahmina serves as chair of the legal advisory committee of the global entrepreneur and residence coalition. She is also a columnist with the Seattle Globalist.

I have two special guests today, sisters, Nina and Sonya Montenegro, who just published an incredible book called mending life, a handbook for repairing clothes and hearts. The sisters have also previously written two other books together, a year in the garden and three year garden journal. Sonya and Nina are also co-founders and co-creative directors of a design studio, The Far Woods, which is located on an organic farm outside Portland, Oregon. Today.
