Richard Grenville (1542-91) was a celebrated Elizabethan Sea Dog—an informal name bestowed upon English privateers who were authorised by Queen Elizabeth I to raid England's enemies, even during times of peace. Carrying letters of marque issued by the English Crown, the Sea Dogs frequently attacked both enemy shipping at sea and enemy outposts on land... frequently targeting the Spanish in American waters and ports. Known as the Bishop of Rome and the visible head of the worldwide Catholic Church, the Pope is also called the supreme pontiff, Roman pontiff, or sovereign pontiff. The institution is known as the Papacy. From the 8th century until 1870, the Pope was the sovereign or head of state of the Papal States, and since 1929 of the much smaller Vatican City state.

Located in the Apostolic Palace, the pope's official residence in Vatican City, The Sistine Chapel takes its name from Pope Sixtus, who had it built during the 1470s. Since that time, it has served as a place of both religious and functionary papal activity. Today, it is the site of the papal conclave, the process by which a new pope is selected. The chapel's fame lies mainly in the frescoes that decorate its interior by a team of Renaissance painters including Sandro Botticelli, Pietro Perugino, Pinturicchio, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Cosimo Rosselli, and most particularly the Sistine Chapel ceiling and The Last Judgment covering the whole altar wall, both by Michelangelo.

After escaping martyrdom in Nazareth, early in his ministry, Jesus returns to the town of Capernaum, a Jewish fishing village on the Sea of Galilee's northwestern shore. It's a Biblical site that's mentioned in the Gospels as Jesus' second home and the place where he performed many miracles.
