This week we discuss the book "Changes in the Land" by William Cronon. This book is a fairly heterodox telling of the history of the effects of human behavior, both Indian and Settler, on the ecology of the region of New England in the early Colonial period. We discuss the different ways the two groups behaved in relation to nature and how these changed over time. We take it to a place you would not expect, focusing in on the effects of finance and the system of proto-capitalism that was implemented as a matter of course during the development of the New England Colonies.

Manson survived a traumatic childhood before spending the majority of his life in correctional institutions and ended up in the care of Roger Smith, a federal parole agent also in charge of the CIA MK-Ultra affiliated Haight Ashbury Free Medical Clinic alongside esteemed colleague Louis Jolyan West. In the ensuing 2 years Manson's career of crime and depravity would become the stuff of legend, allegedly being the death knell for the entire hippie movement. We investigate.

She was a simple peasant girl in Eastern France during the course of the 100 Years War, who stepped into the shoes of a local legend of a maiden who would save France. A fascinating look into the past of the Catholic Church as well as into a totally different time socially speaking, this was an incredibly fascinating discussion that touches on politics, religion and sacrifice.
