This week (October 1st 2022) the Wall Street Journal and Yahoo News reported "Lumber Prices below pre-pandemic levels".
It kind of surprised me as a home builder. I didn't think that was correct. So I went back and looked at the numbers. After all I buy lumber all the time through out the year, several times a month, in fact.
In this episode I share the numbers and the results may surprise you!

The Parade of Homes is an annual source of inspiration, ideas, and dreams for thousands of home buyers each year. Learn what new things are trending in construction. I recently toured the Milwaukee area Parade of Homes (The longest running event in the country and original trademark of the phrase).
I point out some of the local design trends. This year was particularly interesting as the continued supply chain issues limited some of the innovation. Nonetheless there were still a few pretty creative ideas displayed.

One change that can drastically help promote more housing affordability is reducing overall lot size. The good news? In many parts of the country it is on the decline. Others, not so much.
Many municipalities have minimum lot sizes and that can make housing unaffordable or unattainable in many areas. This policy must be reconsidered if we want to help millennial home buyers have a chance at new homes.
