Jay Smith is currently the Director of Player Personnel and Development at the University of Michigan under Juwan Howard. Smith has over three decades of collegiate basketball coaching experience on all three NCAA levels.

Early in his 34 year coaching career, Smith was an assistant coach at Michigan for seven seasons (1989-96) where he helped the Wolverines to six NCAA Tournaments, two Final Four and assisted in recruiting what some consider to be "the greatest class ever recruited" the famed "Fab Five." During his time in Ann Arbor he aided in the coaching of All-Americans Rumeal Robinson, Loy Vaught, Terry Mills, Chris Webber, Jalen Rose and Howard.

Prior to his return to Michigan, Smith spent the last three seasons as the head coach at Kalamazoo College (2016-19).

Before returning to a head coaching role with Kalamazoo, Smith was an assistant coach at University of Detroit Mercy for eight years (2008-16) after taking two years away from the game following his stint as the head coach at Central Michigan.

In his near decade with the Chippewas, Smith led CMU to a pair of Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular season titles (2001, '03), the 2003 MAC Tournament championship, and a trip to the NCAA Tournament led by eventual NBA player Chris Kaman.

Before heading to Mount Pleasant, Smith earned his first head coaching job at Grand Valley State University in 1996-97.

Smith started his coaching career as an assistant at Kent State for five years (1984-89) where he helped the Golden Flashes to a pair of NIT appearances in 1985 and 1989.

He played one year of basketball at Bowling Green State University (1979-80) before playing his final three years at Saginaw Valley State (1981-83).

Smith was a standout high school basketball guard at Mio Au Sable and still holds the Michigan state record for career scoring with 2,841 points -- a record he set without the 3-point line.

Ger Sasser is the Owner and Trainer at CrossFit Countdown, located in Ashland, KY. Ger is the strength coach for the Tomcat Basketball team at Ashland Blazer High School, Ashland, KY. Last year, the Tomcat Basketball program became the first team to win 2000 games in Kentucky high school history, and finished their season undefeated at 33 – 0. Coach Jason Mays credits much of their success to the rigorous strength training that is now embedded into his basketball program.

Formerly ranked 25th in the world for competitive CrossFit Athletes, Ger now focuses on coaching athletes back in his hometown. “The most rewarding thing is seeing kids do things they never thought they would be able to, says Sasser. Witnessing the Tomcat Basketball team go undefeated last season was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. I’m excited to share with other high school basketball coaches what I’ve learned training the players at Ashland.”

Ari Stern is a former four-year player at The College of Wooster. He is currently a graduate assistant at Duquesne University after serving as a player development intern for the Dallas Mavericks in 2018-19.

While with the Mavs, Stern collaborated with coaches in helping facilitate practices, individual workouts and game day activities. He also contributed to Dallas’ analytic efforts by assisting with film breakdown.

The Phoenix, Ariz. native has also worked extensively at a number of national and international basketball academies, clinics and camps.

A team captain at Wooster, Stern was part of teams that compiled a 90-30 record and made four NCAA Division III Championship appearances under head coach Steve Moore, who currently ranks second on the Division III career wins list.

A graduate of Sunnyslope High School, Stern was one of ten players named to the statewide All-Academic Boys Basketball Team (Divisions I and II) as a senior. Stern helped the Vikings to the state semifinals twice as they went a combined 57-8 during his junior and senior years.

Stern graduated magna cum laude with a degree in psychology from Wooster in 2018. As part of his degree requirement, he studied the effects of mindset on athletic performance and persistence for his senior independent study thesis. He was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society and the NABC Honors Court.

Tobin Anderson is heading into his 8th year as the head coach of the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans. Anderson has guided St. Thomas Aquinas to five straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

Tobin joined the Spartan staff in 2013, as the 7th head coach in the program’s history, bringing over 16 years of coaching experience at the Division I, II and III levels. Anderson came to STAC after a two year stint as an assistant coach for Division I Siena College.

Before his time at Siena, Anderson was an established head coach at the Division III level at Hamilton College and Clarkson University. While at Hamilton, he posted a 118-63 record over a seven year span, with a .652 winning percentage. The Continentals reached the league tournament five out of his seven years, including a tournament championship and a trip to the NCAA DIII tournament.

Prior to arriving at Hamilton, Anderson earned his first head coaching position at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y. In his five years with the Golden Knights, he broke the school record for wins, with a 19-10 season in 2001-02.

Anderson spent three years as an assistant coach; two years at Le Moyne College, from 1997-1999. He also started his college coaching career as an assistant at Clarkson in 1996, where he would later return. He has been involved in numerous basketball camps and clinics and has produced two basketball individual instruction DVD's. He is a lecturer and clinician at the nation's two most prestigious basketball camps; Hoop Group Elite and Five-Star Basketball Camp.

Tobin graduated from Wesleyan University in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in American Studies. He was a four year starter, two year captain, and is one of the top ten leading scorers in school history.
