This week I had the honor of connecting with mobility expert Dr. Jen Esquer about how we can use mobility and fitness to prevent and treat mental health issues. Dr. Jen shares with us about a recent trauma that she endured and how she walked through the pain, allowed space for healing, and ultimately found her truest self through the process.
In this episode, Dr. Jen walks us through her journey of being a young gymnast, to finding a love for mobility, and ultimately sharing her passion very publicly and building a following online. After enduring a betrayal in a relationship, Dr. Jen discovered a new part of the mind/body connection that she had not experienced before, realized the power of her own intuition, and the importance of trusting herself.
Today we talk about how to find your worth and value outside of external circumstances, why it is critical to find community that will hold space for you and not push you through the process of healing and the connection between physical fitness and mental health. Jen even shares with us a few breathing techniques that will help you through panic attacks and anxiety.
This is a powerful interview that I know you will learn so much from. If you have thoughts or questions or would simply like the support from our community please find us on Facebook, Hope to Recharge. Because as always, together is better.

Today my energy is a little low but I wanted to share with you something that I am currently going through. As you know I love the topic of gratitude but I am still learning how to implement it into my life especially during painful times.
On this week’s attitude with gratitude, I wanted to share with you about a difficult time we have been having with my sweet little boy and his first few days of preschool. My dear friend Matthew reminded me to be grateful even during this difficult time.
How do we find gratitude when we are in pain? How can we use the tools of gratitude to overcome the trials we are facing? This week I was reminded that gratitude gives me the energy to focus and reminds me that nothing lasts forever. I hope this episode and my story encourages you to find the light and the good even in the darkest of times.

This week, I sat down with another individual who has played a huge role in my life and in my journey towards overcoming the mental health struggles that I have dealt with. I have the extreme honor of introducing you to my intuitive coach and mentor Brian W
I met Brian five or six years ago when I was experiencing deep depression. Since then, he has guided me towards healing by helping me to uncover my own intuition and unlock my own ability to what he calls “healing myself.”
Brian’s holistic approach includes focusing on our biofeedback and connecting our symptoms to underlying emotions. In our conversation we talk about why he doesn’t believe we need “healers” and that we have the power within ourselves to guide our own healing journey. We also talk about how negative energy blocks us and how we can begin to release negative emotions that are the underlying cause of mental illness.
If you feel stuck and wonder what role our emotions play in our healing, you will love this conversation with Brian. We also include a short clip of an upcoming episode where Brian works with me through an exercise.
If you need any additional support or community please connect with us on our Facebook group Hope to Recharge. Because as always, together is better.

My friend Matthew recently suggested this incredible book to me by Pam Grout called Thank and Grow Rich. You may be familiar with the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill who talks about the power of our thoughts in fulfilling our dreams. This book presents the idea that GRATITUDE plays just as an important role in us seeing miracles and having success.
Pam says that gratitude and joy are both connected and when we experience one, we experience the other. In today’s Attitude of Gratitude, I share with you about her program called AA 2.0 which are two practices that she recommends using every day that will transform our lives and help us reap the full benefits of gratitude.
I invite you in this episode to start these powerful practices including finding a group that you can share your gratitude with. It will give you strength and help pick you up even during difficult times. If you need a community to support you in your mental health journey please connect with us in our private Facebook group, because as always together is better.

Today we are welcoming mental health advocate and fellow podcast host, Rachael Steinman to the show. Rachel hosts the "Dear Family" podcast which she says is like a "love letter" to families who have a loved one who is suffering from mental illness.
Although Rachel says that she herself has never struggled with mental health, members in her family going back five generations have, which has resulted in four suicides. Rachael shares openly with us about her family's history, including her mom's battle with Bipolar.
A few years ago Rachel ran across a manuscript that her grandfather had written before he died by suicide. She began her own writing process uncovering her discoveries about her families mental illnesses and battles with addiction. She said that the writing process actually began to heal her relationship with her own mother and she gained empathy for those struggling and discovered a new passion for breaking the stigma of mental illness.
We not only dive into Rachel's powerful story but we also discuss how mental illness can be passed down through generations, the importance of stepping in and providing hope for others, and forgiveness' role in the process.
I learned so much from Rachel and I know you will be moved by her story. If you or someone you know needs support during the mental health journey, please connect with us in our private community Hope to Recharge- because as always- together is better!

Imagine teaching for 37 years, traveling all over the world, and having taught over 2.5 million people, and then one day...being told that you would never speak or write again.
That’s exactly what happened to this week's guest Paul Cummings, whom I had the extreme honor of sitting down with to discusses how he beat all odds and gained a new perspective on gratitude.
I first heard about Paul when our mutual friend, Andy Heck introduced me to his book, It All Matters, and I heard about his powerful story and optimistic outlook on life. Today, Paul shares with us about when he had a stroke and was then diagnosed with advanced Aphasia, which is loss of ability to express speech (or understand it) caused by brain damage.
In our interview Paul shares with us why he believes that those who are diagnosed with Aphasia are some of the “bravest people you will ever meet”, why he wakes up every morning at 4 AM and practices his speech for four hours, how his mother has shaped his outlook on life, and why he is “not a prisoner” to anything.
I was so inspired by Paul and his story and know that you will love this incredibly raw and powerful conversation. We would love to hear your thoughts on this topic! You can connect with us in our private Facebook group- because as always- together is better!
