Do you struggle receiving thanks? Or compliments? If someone expresses gratitude to you, do you shake it off or struggle with knowing what to say? This week on Attitude with Gratitude, we are discussing how to receive gratitude and why it is so important to do so.
For my entire life, I have struggled with receiving gratitude from others. I believe this comes from wanting to be humble, or perhaps an insecurity, but I know it isn’t a healthy habit. I notice that when I thank others they receive it graciously which makes me feel good as the one who says “thank you”. So why do I have a hard time receiving it myself?
I recently did a little research on this topic and in this episode share with you what I find. I want to be open with my own journey to hopefully help you learn how to receive gratitude yourself. I love the topic of gratitude and reflecting on it every week. It challenges me in my own journey and my own habits and I hope it does for you as well.
This week I invite you to reflect on how you receive gratitude and how you respond to others. If you have any thoughts or tips please join our private Facebook community and share with us your experience. Remember together is better!

Do you or someone you love suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)? In today’s episode, I had the honor of sitting down with entrepreneur, and music enthusiast, Paul Sokol as he generously shares with us about his experiences with BPD and how it has affected him both professionally and personally.
I first connected with Paul after reading a powerful (and vulnerable) post that he made on social media about his mental health journey. In our conversation, Paul opens up about his resistance to seek treatment and why since then, he is now an advocate for others to seek professional help.
Paul shares with us the common symptoms of BPD as well suggests tools for coping including DBT therapy, emotional wheels, and affirmations. We also talk about how loved ones can support those with BPD and why money should never be used as an excuse to keep you from seeking help.

In this week’s Attitude of Gratitude, I wanted to do something a little bit different. Over the past couple of weeks, we have been talking about finding gratitude in things or situations that we have in our lives. In today's episode, I wanted to talk about being grateful for PEOPLE. Specifically, those who do very small, seemingly insignificant acts of kindness or service for us.
I learned about the importance of this form of gratitude from one of my friends who taught me about always being thankful and kind to everyone. He went above and beyond to help everyone feel appreciated, like the waitress at the restaurant, or the person at the checkout counter.
It is important to allow yourself to really FEEL gratitude for the small things and truly SEE the good that others are doing for us. This doesn’t just affect us but causes a ripple effect of positive energy which will continue to influence others. Connect with us and let us know about a small act of service that you showed gratitude for this week. Join the conversation in our Facebook group! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2079694042156503/

How do you handle depression and anxiety when you travel? What about when there are major life changes and you feel alone? How can you lean on others and use gratitude to pull you through some of the darkest of times?
This week I had the honor of connecting with mental health advocate, actor, artist, and comedian, Mari Stracke. I first discovered her on Instagram (@MariStracke) and fell in love with the work that she was doing around mental health. What struck me the most was how open she was about her struggles.
In our interview, Mari shares with us incredible tips like how she uses heat, writing letters to herself, and even chocolate to cope with her depression and anxiety. We also talk about the importance of identifying your support system and why taking tiny steps everyday matters. Mari shares that she has never had shame asking for help and we hope that this episode encourages you to connect with someone who can support you on this journey. Because as always, together is better.

Can your brain CHANGE? Do we have the power to rewire unhealthy patterns, reverse years of bad habits, and create a new future for ourselves? Our guest this week says that we can and that our brains are MUCH more powerful than we could even imagine.
This week, I had the honor of interviewing Selena Bartlett, a neuroscientist, about her personal experience with mental illness and why she believes our brains are much more powerful than we are told. She shares with us a very moving story about a sister she lost to mental illness and how that experience has shifted her perception of the mental health field and her own career.
We also dig into the small changes that we need to make to begin the process of rewiring our brains and why “one-size” does not “fit all” when it comes to our mental health journey. The solutions Selena offers are simple, but of course not always easy. That is why we want to offer you a community of like-minded individuals who will walk you through the process of not only coping with mental health struggles but also THRIVING despite them.
