Horrifying History

Just by the name alone; secret societies bring up feelings of suspicion and mistrust. With that said, they have flourished throughout history. Conspiracy theories have surrounded secret societies for centuries, and many of these link these groups to major world events. But are these stories the truth, or are they fiction?

When people hear the words “The Summer of ’69”, it means different things to many. Some think about the singer Brian Adams, and his song of the same name. Others think about how three astronauts landed on the moon for the first time. For many, Woodstock and the Stonewall riots are the first thing to come to their minds.

It was very tumultuous time, and one person decided to take advantage of that which resulted in death.

A heads up my dear listeners - today we will be talking about abuse and neglect of various forms for adults and children, sexual assault, different types of crime, and murder. Listener discretion is advised.

They sit in cemeteries amongst the tombstones. They look innocent enough; an ornate chair or bench where you can rest your feet for a moment. But if there is a hint of truth in this urban legend - these objects wait for unsuspecting mourners to take a seat.

Christmas…the most festive time of the year. I have fond memories of decorating the tree, helping my mom with the lights or at least attempting to, hanging the stockings on the mantel, being with family, eating amazing food, and then on Christmas Day - seeing a bounty of presents under the tree with our home being filled with joy, love and laughter. But my question is; where did all the traditions of Christmas come from.

Many will say that it is the birth of Christ that we are celebrating. Is that the case or are our traditions far older than we realize? So, settle in with some hot cocoa, eggnog, or whatever you prefer and listen to the true origins of some of our Christmas Traditions.

When people think of the CIA; they normally think of James Bond or of a shady guy in a hat and trench coat in old black and white movies. People don’t normally think of American citizens being traced and watched, but that’s exactly what happened historically and continues to happen in today’s times.

The concept of the CIA following anyone is an odd for most. Anyone voicing that the CIA is following them are often dismissed as crazy or paranoid, and this can lead to tragic results.

Just a heads up my spooky friends: this episode contains mention of mental health issues, suicide, and suicidal thoughts. Listener discretion is advised.

Today my spooky friends; the episode you will hear will sound like a Halloween legend. But…it is not. A dark and grisly vampire hysteria gripped New England in the 18th and 19th centuries, and it resulted in the macabre history that you will hear today. It also resulted in several people to be forever known as a vampire.

Just a heads up here my dear listeners…today we will be talking about desecration of the dead. Listener discretion is advised.

When one thinks about murder mysteries, Agatha Christie or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle will come to many people’s minds. With these writers you always get a great whodunnit, and the crime is always solved in the end. Many times; the guilty party either gives an impressive monologue about why they did their evil crime, or their life ends in an interesting or dramatic fashion. But in real life, there are some murder cases that are strange, bloody, and unsolved to this day.
