Hound Dog Podcast Network by The Sportsmen's Empire

PBR World Champion Bull Rider Kody Lohstroh joins Chris and Shorty for this episode of the Houndsman XP Podcast. Kody has been hunting his entire life. His professional bull riding career kept him busy, consuming a large amount of his time and mental focus to rise to the top of the sports world. However, he never lost his spark and passion to hunt.

Hunting is a life sport. When we train our children and mentor young people into the hunting culture we train them for a lifestyle for a lifetime. Long after a person has to hang up the cleats, put down the ball or hang up the bull rope, hunting can fill the need to achieve excellence.

Kody will talk about what it took to get to the top of the bull riding world and the crew will discuss the parallels that can be applied to hunting and success with hounds. Having a top hound or pack of hounds to catch large game or win a world championship in the coonhound world the same lessons apply. Maybe you have an up and coming sports star that wants to achieve greatness and needs some motivation and inspiration; get it from a world champion with a great message.

Do you use supplements for your hounds joints?

While in Orlando, Heath sits down with the Co-owner, Olivier Morin, of 1-TDC and talks about how oral and joint care can add years to your hounds performance. Olivier goes over how dental care boosts the dogs overall health. He explains how 1- TDC works and all the different uses for it and how it differs from other oral and joint supplements. There is a surprise use that may put your hounds back in the field faster than other products. Olivier talks about how some of the top dogs in agility- frisbee and sledding are using this product. Heath is going to use the product on several dogs and give updates on how it is working. This is something we may overlook in our everyday maintenance of our hounds.

Have you ever had an in depth conversation with a high level executive from an animal rights organization? Do you really know what is going on in executive board rooms? Do you wonder what the real strategies are?

Meet John Bolin. John is a career law enforcement officer that went to work for one of the most recognizable animal rights organizations in the world. He sat in executive board meetings, he read company email, he saw sensitive and secret documents. He saw the evil from within.

After brief employment he knew he needed to get out and disassociate himself from the animal rights movement.

You will hear an amazing story about graft, corruption, and the dishonesty that is an everyday practice for the animal rights movement. Never before has anyone from this level or with this much involvement shared the true facts about animal rights agendas with the hunting community.

John is dedicated to exposing the corrupt practices of the movement.

The Journey is about the process of becoming better houndsmen, better hunters and better people. On this Episode of the Journey on the Houndsman XP Podcast Network, host Heath Hyatt discusses a very important topic with Brandon Mitchell of Morrell, Maine.

Do you remember how you got started? Do you remember the frustration and struggle to become consistent and successful with your hounds? Heath and Brandon cover all of this and more. Brandon discusses how he almost quit and the importance of finding a mentor to learn the craft of hunting hounds from.

The Journey starts with one step and continues with each step we choose to take. Brandon and Heath talk about putting one foot in front of the other and how to enjoy the journey.

If you are long in the tooth and have some valuable experience to share; there is a new Houndsman out there that needs you.

Joe Kondelis, president of the American Bear Foundation (ABF) joins the Houndsman XP Podcast host, Chris Powell, to discuss black bears, bear management, bear hunting and what the ABF is working on all across the United States.

Joe lives in Cody, WY and has led the organization from a regional organization, formerly known as the Western Bear Foundation, to a national organization that is creating grass roots chapters in many states. The ABF is an all encompassing conservation group that represents all bear hunters regardless of region or method of hunting. The ABF is more than a pro hunting group. Hunting is a valuable tool in wildlife management however, the ABF works on many fronts of wildlife management. These efforts include overall bear health, human/bear conflict mitigation, grizzly conflict mitigation in the lower 48 and much more.

Heath traveled to North Carolina to spend a few days with Brent and Doug for their early Black Bear Season. The guys already had a good few days before Heath arrived but they still had a great time and caught some nice black bear with the hounds.

Brent Bunch joins Heath to recap the North Carolina season and a few of the hunts. Heath and Brent talk about the bear sizes and the difference between coastal / low land black bear and Virginia mountain bear.

As expected when houndsmen get together; they break down the dog work and get into a little dog talk. It’s a great time on the Journey, you should come along.
