Hound Dog Podcast Network by The Sportsmen's Empire

Have you ever chased a mule through the dark in your underwear and boots? Have you ever been kicked in the guts by a mule that was happy to leave slobber knockered laying beside the trail? Have you ever tried the help your hounds on a track only to be the one to blow it up? Can lions really pick up their scent?

Cleave Dwire returns to the Houndsman XP Podcast. Chris and Cleave discuss all these topics plus; catch up on last winters hunts and lay out some new topics for conversation. Cleave shares his experiences and techniques to increase you lion hunting success. They talk about tough tracking conditions and some ways to overcome the conditions that bad weather throws at us.

There is plenty of humorous stories, debate and value in this podcast for all Houndsmen.

Join us this week on The Truth as Josh sits down with his friend, and UKC Coonhound World Championship Finalist Wyatt Monen. Making it to the final cast of the world championship is quite an accomplishment. It takes a special hound and a handler that is willing to dedicate themselves to the task.

Coming off the heels of his run at a world title Josh and Wyatt talk about his past, how his location hinders his ability to go to hunts, the dogs he’s lost, and the dogs that he is currently hunting.  So tune in and enjoy, only on the Houndsman XP Podcast Network.

As houndsmen we all dream of the perfect dog. We are striving for perfection from first strike to final tree and everything in between. We want dogs that have high drive but have great kennel manners. We want gritty dogs but not mean dogs. We want top strike dogs but not track straddlers. We are looking for great tree dogs but not slick treeing idiots.

On this episode of The Journey on the Houndsman XP Podcast Network, Heath and Chris dive into this topic of expectations. Are they real or unachievable goals? Whether you are hunting scenting hounds on bear, raccoon, boar or rabbits, sighthounds on hare or terriers. If you want to understand what real expectations are for training your Labrador retriever or pointing dog this conversation will help you set goals for your performance dog and yourself as the trainer.

In this episode of the Houndsman XP Podcast Chris is joined by Theresa Lucas McMahan of the advocate for food security organization - Protect the Harvest. Protect the Harvest tackles tough issues that are working against America’s security and freedom. From food shortages to ranching and farming practices the world is being misled. The PLAYERS are the same as those who villainize hunters and hunting.

Chris and Theresa breakdown issues that are affecting policy making in our governmental bodies such as Green New Deal, American Prairie Reserve, ESGs and what they really hold for our future.

To break it down simply, Houndsmen need to be aware of these multi faceted assaults on freedom. Protect the Harvest is a great friend to have in the fight.

Heath chats with Alex Kurashev about a unique dog that Alex runs on bear, the Laika. One of four different dogs within the breed. Alex tells about the origination of the Laika and the purpose behind the breed. Alex takes us through his love for hunting and how he ended up with the Laika. Heath has Alex tell about how he trained his pack without any help or mentors. The Laika is an interesting breed, they bring a different perspective to a long history of using a hound. Alex has shown two Laikas and determination and you can catch bear just like the rest of us. It’s all about the Journey.
