March 07, 2022 The Beagle Queen Talks About Puppies
The Beagle Queen, Becky Dwire gives an insightful and in depth tutorial on the the importance of socializing puppies early and often. While most folks may think that socializing means taking your dog to Rural King and dog parks, Becky lays it out there and talks about what an Xtreme Performance working dog needs.
Becky talks about stimulation, over stimulating and how to have well mannered dogs that are a pleasure to hunt and be around. She explains how a dog learns and why early socialization is so important to getting years of great service and dogs that can flat out hunt.

March 04, 2022 The Truth about Training
On this episode of The Truth Josh sits down with renowned big game houndsman and Houndsman XP team member Shorty Gorham to talk puppy training.
Hound puppy training is one of if not the most difficult type of dog training there is, and there are many differences between training a dog to compete in the east, and training a dog to trail lions in the arid southwest.
Josh and Shorty discuss those differences and how they go about the challenges that puppy training presents in a very fun and informative conversation between two guys that just love hounds.

February 28, 2022 Hunting for a Cure - The Drake Bryant Story
As I was walking across the grounds of the 2022 Grand American in Orangeburg, SC, hungry as a stray dog, my nose detected the unmistakeable aroma of hog meat being prepared on a hickory slow burn fire. Putting my nose in the air and following the scent into the wind I found myself looking at a white food truck complete with blackened oil drum smokers, a line of hungry coonhunters and tables full of people devouring lip smacking food. I had found it: The Holy Grail of the south…BBQ.
As I got closer to the truck I could read the lettering on the side and it read “Hunting for a Cure; Drakes Hope”. Adjacent to the ordering window was a write up about the purpose of this traveling Mecca of delicacy. It told the brief story of Drake Bryant, a fifteen year old boy who is inflicted with severe autism.
On this episode of the Houndsman XP Podcast, you will meet Curtis Bryant, the father of Drake Bryant. You will hear Drake’s story and the struggles and hardships of finding treatment and comfort for this South Carolina Family. You will hear how the coonhunting community has rallied around the Bryant Family. This is an inspiring story that sets an example for all of us. It is a story worth telling and showcases the true fiber of the hound hunting community and what we can accomplish for the greater good.

February 21, 2022 Blackberries and Beagles with Mr. David Church
This week we take the Houndsman XP faithful to the blackberry thickets of the Pacific Northwest hunting rabbits with beagles.
Seth traveled to Oregon to experience a wide variety of hound hunting styles and techniques and on the last day came to hunt rabbits with those tiny troopers of the brush, Beagles. Seth experienced a day of great success with David Church’s and Missy Fix’s dogs bringing in 2 different species of rabbits caught by the beagles in those harsh thickets. Seth was very enthusiastic to sit down with David and hear his story with these wonderful little hounds to pick his brain about the unique aspects of hunting in the Pacific Northwest with these dogs and much more!

February 14, 2022 Whitaker Brothers Hunting Company with Josh Whitaker
Josh Whitaker is the kind of guy you just immediately like. He is fun to talk with, he is a hard hunter and dedicated Houndsman. He and his twin brother Jason co own Whitaker Brothers Hunting Company out of Trinidad Colorado.
Josh and Chris talk lion hunting, how he and Jason got their start and styles of hounds they prefer. They hunt diverse terrain from high mountain to high desert, from dirt to snow. Josh shares his philosphies and experience with HXP faithfuls without hesitation.
Chris and Josh wrap up the conversation with discussing Josh’s experience in Denver last week. Josh and hundreds of other houndsmen were joined by ranchers, trappers and hunters to make a solid stand opposing SB22-031. This bill would have made it illegal to hunt mountain lion, bobcat and kill any future hopes f hunting Canadian lynx in the mile high state.
Houndsman XP is excited to share this success story and we applaud Colorado Houndsmen for organizing and standing up for freedom and science based wildlife management.

February 07, 2022 The Dogs are Treed
Chris is joined on this podcast by Kevin and Nancy Hall of dogsRtreed. DogsRtreed is the industry leader in the highest quality hunting equipment for the serious Houndsman.
As a kid growing up in a self employed, self sustaining family, my grandparents taught me early in life about the value of a dollar. Grandpa would pay for the best tools on the market because those tolls were important to the survival of his business and family. I can remember him and my father saying “You can spend your money now on the best or you can spend your money multiple times later on junk.”
For houndsmen there are some tools of the trade that are essential for our success and the safety and peace of mind for our valuable hounds; dogsRtreed doesn’t sell junk. The equipment you buy isn’t going to break when you need it most. You can sleep easy in camp when you have your hounds on one of their tie outs and the leash isn’t going to fail at the critical moment when you are tying dogs back at a bay up in a dangerous place.
dogsRtreed is setting the standard in the industry for high quality gear.
