Starting with the 2022 season, winning the Pac-12 North will no longer automatically get Oregon Football a berth in the Pac-12 championship game. The conference announced that rather than the two division winners, the championship game will be played between the two teams with the highest conference winning percentage. If this rule had always been the case, multiple Oregon Football teams from the last decade would have had the opportunity to play for a conference crown.
On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin looks at how Oregon Football is impacted by a conference-wide change from new commissioner George Kliavkoff. This move will eventually cause a shift in how Pac-12 games are scheduled, assuming divisions do in fact go away one day as this sort of move would indicate. Oregon could start not playing teams that they've been required to play in the past as a result.
We are 106 days away from the season opener against Georgia in the Chick-fil-a Kickoff in Atlanta for the 2022 season. It appears Oregon is going to go into the game as an underdog--a heavy one, as it turns out. Should Oregon really be a 16.5 point underdog against the reigning national champs?
