We talk about the redhead emoji and why we don't have one yet! Tell us your thoughts on this!
Brett Freedman is an LA-based makeup artist –– working with some of the world’s most beautiful redheads, including Reba McEntire! Brett met Reba over a decade ago on a cover photo shoot and he has worked on her makeup ever since.
He is also known for his Brett Brow line — which are products just for eyebrows! Redheads, he has specific shades just for us. Every product is created, formulated and developed by Brett.
Since he has worked on Hollywood’s most famous redhead, we couldn’t wait to discuss more with him on ‘Redhead Friendly’ makeup techniques and more.
To shop his product recommendations, many of which he uses on Reba, see the Podcast Notes: https://howtobearedhead.com/episode-9-redhead-makeup-tips-with-reba-mcentire-makeup-artist-brett-freedman/
On this week’s episode of the How to be a Redhead podcast, we’re talking all about green beauty.
When How to be a Redhead launched in 2011, we focused on discussions about ‘Redhead Friendly’ approved products; 99.9% of the time green beauty items are ‘Redhead Friendly’ because they’re clean, free of heavy chemicals and as natural as can be.
That’s why we always recommend green beauty for redheads, and why Katey Denno is our guest in this week’s episode. Not only is she a redhead, but she is known as the go-to green beauty celebrity artist. Her passion for makeup was awakened during her 10+ year career in social work in DC and The Bronx, by her male-to-female transgender clients. While focusing on the external, she was able to help them feel good within, which she still believes, is the root of looking great. Denno’s redhead celebrity roster include Connie Britton, Isla Fisher, the queen of redheads herself: Julianne Moore, and more!

On this week’s episode of the How to be a Redhead podcast, we’re talking all about redhead men and redheads ‘by choice’. Popular questions amongst How to be a Redhead followers are:
1. “I am a natural redhead man. Any tips for me?”
2. “I am a redhead ‘by choice’. I wasn’t born a redhead, but I know it’s the right color for me. What products are best for my hair? Any other tips for me?”
So, we wanted to dedicate an entire episode about these two topics.
We brought in two “experts” in these fields: siblings, Lydia and Josh Hodges who grew up in a redhead family. Josh is a natural redhead and Lydia has dyed her hair red for over 5 years and feels most confident being a redhead ‘by choice’.
Luckily, Josh is Adrienne’s husband and Lydia is her sister-in-law.
Lydia dishes on her favorite red hair dye, L’Oreal Paris Superior Preference, 6R Light Auburn (Warmer). She only leaves it on for 30 minutes and dyes it every 3 weeks. She also talks about how she gained so much confidence because of her red hair.
Josh talks about growing up as a natural redhead and vivid memories from his childhood; including redhead bullying and how he made it stop.
And, Josh also talks about how he isn’t afraid to use beauty products. One of his favorite items is PCA Skin’s Sensitive Skin Retinol and lots of sunscreen.

Episode 6 is all about redhead confidence when you’re raising redhead kids. Adrienne and Stephanie chose a guest who gave them confidence: their mom!
Her name is Jan Vendetti. She is a natural blonde from California. The girls were raised in New England in a predominately Italian neighborhood. Jan really helped Adrienne and Stephanie embrace who we were.
Adrienne and Stephanie were inspired to start HowtobeaRedhead.com because their mom truly helped them learn HOW to be a redhead (wink, wink).

Episode 5 of the How to be a Redhead podcast is a very special one for us. We’re talking all about starting a business and tips at the beginning of your journey. Amber Hurdle is the guest on today’s episode. She is a redhead, professional Brand Strategist and Leadership Consultant. Her story, just like the start of any company, did not start with ease. She was a teen mom and with a lot of drive and organization, began successfully helping companies prosper. She’s author of “The Bombshell Business Woman” and host of “The Bombshell Business” podcast. Adrienne and Stephanie also share tips of their How to be a Redhead business journey, and one particular story that could have ended their business — but they refused to let it happen.

Gwen Flamberg is the Executive Beauty & Style Editor for US Weekly and the podcast host of the very popular “Get Tressed With Us”. She’s a beautiful redhead, beauty addict, expert and influencer. We love her Tweets and Instagram stories — make sure to follow her — and so excited to have her join the How to be a Redhead podcast.
Travis Cronin is a longtime friend of Adrienne and Stephanie’s — and is a natural redhead too! He is a Senior Reporter for US Weekly and if you know him or of him, you know he spreads a beam of positivity wherever he goes! You might also see him on the red carpet interviewing Hollywood’s hottest celebs. He also just launched his own podcast, “On The List! With US Weekly” last week — and just like him, it. is. fabulous.

Red hair is more than a color, it’s a lifestyle. If there is one woman who emulates “the redhead lifestyle”, it is Julie Klausner. She is an author, comedian, podcaster, and writer. She is widely known for co-creating, writing and starring in the Hulu sitcom "Difficult People" alongside Billy Eichner and hailed from executive producer, Amy Poehler.
Poehler is quoted saying, "Read everything Julie Klausner writes and listen to everything Julie Klausner says. She is hilarious, wise and smarter than you. I adore her."
The podcast begins with Adrienne and Stephanie talking about how it was growing up as redheads and the "lifestyle" that comes with having red hair. They then call Julie Klausner to talk more in detail about her career, her redhead lifestyle and what's next for her.
Klausner even dishes about her favorite redhead eyebrow product.
