Publisher's Summary:

Art therapy hasn't done squat for Gabe Jones. A thousand sketches of his fiancée can't bring his memory, or her, back to him. Nothing on Earth can. His past lies in another dimension, a world just out of sight.

Another student on campus, Lea Huckley, unknowingly shares Gabe's obsession with the fourth dimension. The monsters from the other side attacked her parents and fled, getting her folks locked up in the loony bin. Proving this other world exists is the only way to free them. Lea and Gabe strike a deal to help each other, and together they manage to open a door to the world of Gabe's true origin. She'd use him for proof - if she didn't already care too much.

While Gabe tries to reconcile his feelings for Lea and his rediscovered memories of his fiancée, a much more sinister plot unravels. He uncovers his history just in time to become the unwilling lynchpin in a conspiracy to start a war. His memory holds the secret to the final riddle the would-be conqueror needs to get the upper hand. Gabe must protect the riddle at all costs, even if that means leaving Earth, and Lea, behind forever.

Illirin book 1

What was one of the most memorable moments of SCHISM?

I enjoyed the characters and how unique they were. Gabe has lost his memory and Lea is just a little different. But the characters are fun to follow through out the story.

We are not alone

Where does SCHISM rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

It ranks pretty high, I enjoyed the story and the narrator did a good job. The author created a unique storyline that keeps your attention and broadens your thinking.

What was one of the most memorable moments of SCHISM?

I would have to say when they finally breached the other world. finding out that Gabe was "one of them" was a twist I was not prepared for.

Which character as performed by Ryan Prizio was your favorite?

I really liked Lea. She was determined to the point of obsession to make the world acknowledge her family was not insane. The fact she is a little on the strange side makes that harder to do.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It would be better to listen as one sitting or as close together as you can. It keeps you focused and you wont miss anything important then.

Any additional comments?

I liked that Lea was comfortable with herself. she really did not care what people thought even though it hurt her to take their abuse. She was a strong character that knew what she wanted and was not afraid to make it happen. A great story and I look forward to any others that may come in this series.

Missing Memories And Hidden Monsters

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would because it was a really fun listen. The characters are well thought out and the world building was amazing!

What did you like best about this story?

I really liked how everything fell into place as they unravelled the mysteries surrounding Gabe and the "monsters" that tortured Lea's parents. There was never a dull moment or a lag in the storyline.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene where Lea and Gabe went to his world and she saw his true form.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Secret World Awaits Beyond

Any additional comments?

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. This is the first book.

It's a week before Ascher and Shauna's sealing, and the couple is making final preparations for their eternity, but Ascher's ex has other plans. Ursula is hell-bent on revenge - revenge fueled by lover's scorn and her father's death - and she begins breeding a fresh army of newborn darklings to do her bidding.

Great book

If you like romance, sexy men and some fighting the bad guys, then you will enjoy reading this book. Shauna made me mad a few times being way stubborn. Yes she had powers but she did not use them wisely at times and it caused more harm than good and that Is the part I could of done without. But yes I enjoyed reading this book and will be watching for more of Ashlynne's books.

Awesome Series

I know that if you follow my blog or facebook pages at all, it is fairly obvious that I am romance book wh*re. But do you know that my go to genre, the type that I would read a thousand times over, is vampire. I LOVE VAMPIRES. So, when two of my favorite people asked if I would be willing to do this series, I said sure. What an amazing trilogy. I read all three books in one night. When I do that I find it easier on me to do one big review rather than individual reviews so here goes.

Honor and Loyalty are at the heart of the Rousseau family. It is the bond that binds their loyalties. When Ascher meets Shauna there is no turning back. Sometimes in life, fate takes a hand to complete a destiny. Shauna and Ascher are a destined couple. Try telling that to Ursula. She will not stand for the humilation of having the seal with Ascher broken. She goes to war and revenge is the name of her game. I like that Shauna's sister Katy has a role in the book. Sometimes the secondary characters can draw you in more than the main ones.

In the second book, I was a little distraught. Miscarriages in a book bother me for personal reasons and Shauna's at the hands of Ursula's was harsh. Shauna and Ascher are bonding and her sister Katy is in love. Ursula intrigues me. I know that evil never needs a reason for the things they do but there were some places that I just wondered why she kept going on. I understand she was furious with the humilation of getting dumped but I really wanted to tell her to grow up and get over it. How does she think she is going to beat destiny? Why does she think she is more powerful than a prophecy?

In the third book they have finally married but war is ever on the horizon and Ursula has more tricks up her sleeve than a magician. Shauna and Ascher are a wonderful couple and the love and passion they share is breathtaking.

If you follow my reviews then you know that I don't like spoilers. I think they take the essence of the author's work away from the reader. This series is a fabulous read for anyone that likes paranormal. Yes, it shares some basic characteristics with other vampire books.

Well, it's an interesting read

This novel had me questioning the plot and story's structure from the very beginning. I was often confused and unsure what the story was about with it's odd mix of future and past. Once I finally got a grasp on where the setting was it made the main characters more enjoyable/relatable but made it all the more disconcerting that it was little children reading it. I liked the ideas presented in the novel, I just don't think they were written well.

The narrator, Sally Downing, was superb. She had the perfect reading voice and her tempo was spot on. I even enjoyed her choice of vocal nuances in the novel. I look forward to listening to more of her work.

This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

Different and exceeded my expectations

What did you love best about Once Upon a Western Way?

I wasn't sure what to expect when I got this audio book for a road trip. What drew me to this book in the first place was the beautifully designed cover and then the description. What I found interesting is the time setting. It is set in the future, not in the past as I expected.

I was enthralled with this book and the narrator did an excellent job. I loved how she was able to distinguish the characters with her voice. My favorite voice was Mac's.

The story line itself was very engaging. In fact, when one of my favorite characters dies, I almost cried. I was driving so I didn't but I wanted to. For an author to expel that kind of emotion out of a reader then you know the reader connected to the character.

The ending wasn't what I expected and I can't say more without giving spoilers.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mac - his accent and the way he inter-related with the Queen.

What about Sallie Downings performance did you like?

I enjoyed the way she made all the characters come to life. She used different voices to do this.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

Any additional comments?

I loved this book.

Five Stars

it is fascinating, you find it difficult to stop reading it before you finish the entire book!

Ein absolutes MUST READ.

1974 Ford Mustang II. Yes, that bad.

What disappointed you about Keeping House?

Some of the most beautiful cars in the world have that Mustang badge on the grill. The 1974 Ford Mustang II was definitely not one of them. This book is a bit like that. An interesting idea that just didn't turn out all that interesting.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Dead Wrong (Blackmoore Sisters Romantic Mystery)

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

Any additional comments?

I think this could have been interesting but the episodic nature of the book really works against it. Added to that it's not really all that funny. I think maybe someone who smoked too much of the whacky weed might find it hilarious but without the weed it's just dull.

A Wild Ride!

When I picked up Forever Young I half expected a cheesy romance novel but was surprised when it was so much more. Sure, there is a love story, but that is almost a backdrop for this incredibly wild ride the main character goes on. Once he finds out he has this âpowerâ (I wonât give it away!) his life is turned upside down and he literally has to travel half way around the globe to try to put it back together. There were some shockingly funny sex scenes and this really great bad guy named Ari. It is hard to put this novel into a category because it really covers a lot of ground â adventure, romance, lots of action, moral issuesâ. It is like one of those movies â you just have to get it and when itâs done you say âwow that was something Iâve never seen before!â This is going to be a great summertime read for many.

Great story

This was a really cool, clever book that I would highly recommend. When I finished it last night I gave it to my wife and insisted that she read it immediately. I can easily see this story transformed to the big screen down the line. It grabbed me right from the beginning and I found myself reading it every free minute I had until there was nothing left to read. Big picture, I would characterize this as a kind of adventure romance along the lines of Indiana Jones. It reminded me of the Clive Cussler books, but meant for those with an IQ above room temperature. The story is put together in an intricate way - a lot of thoughtful connectivity that I enjoyed. I would probably see another layer if I read it all over again.

Pretty good

So this was my first experience with both this author and this narrator. I have to say I enjoyed the story. It was short but well developed. I am looking forward to learning more about these different paranormal creatures. I am not so sure about the narrator. His voice was clear but he really was just reading the story and it lacked something.

Great Audiobook!

As a huge fun of Brenda Cothern's books, but never a fan of audiobooks, I decided to try this audiobook to see how it compares to the written story. First off, Michael Vasicek has a great voice and he brings so much more to the telling of Kira and Alec's story. Even though I read the story before listening to the audiobook, I was still shocked and surprised during some of the scenes, and held my breath when things got tense. I definitely recommend this audiobook to anyone who's a fan of Brenda Cothern or Michael Vasicek, but definitely get this audiobook if not for the simple fact that you'll enjoy the story!!!

Average vampire + other-being romance

This story between Alec and Kiera is a short supernatural romance, though w e dont learn what each supernatural being is initially. We learn that Alec is a life-driinker or vampire but not what Kiera is, though we know early on what she does to survive. They have an unexplainable kinetic connection upon first meeting. Most of the story is about Alec figuring out what Kiera is and them getting together in spite of what she is and her reaction to him knowing. Kiera knows what Alec is immediately upon meeting him in his nightclub. They are both centuries old. Its a story between 2 mature adults, especially since they have lifetimes (i.e. Alec is about 800 years old) of experience.

Overall, the story creates interesting supernatural mythology. There are other supernatural being referenced but not explained, including a Bender and a Garoul (if thats spelled correctly). And Alec, as a vampire, seemed to have some new tricks. For instance, he could shadow step, which I never quite understood. They used uncommonat least to meslang for taking blood from humans, like an interview. Alecs vampire version was one who didnt have a soul, could influence humans and had super strength and extra healing ability, which are more common among vampire lore. And theythe various supernatural beings in that communityreferred to humans as norms.

The sex scenes are very short but somewhat detailed, though not explicit. Its hard for me to explain the difference between detail and explicitness, but if youre an erotica reader, wherein very raw, explicit, earthy descriptions are sometimes provided then you get the difference. There are several sex scenes, since they are an important part of Kieras life. But, again, they are nowhere near erotica. Still, they could be a problem for you if you dont like any detail and prefer sexual matters to be left to the imagination. And there is really no sexually explicit language. The sexual terms were pretty much limited to groin, cock, climax, core, nub, and, sopping and wet.
