    Cute Story About Easter Traditions
It's a nice story, and I love that the family is biracial (without any commentary on that fact). I've purposely been trying to buy more diverse books for my kids, so I like that.
    Covers all the bases
This book went through everything that had to do with - from hunting for eggs to going to church. It is multi- racial and cultural. It gives general explanations for the events.
    Excellent Overview of American Easter
This book really personifies the Christian American Easter experience. A family dyes eggs, has Easter baskets, hunts the eggs, goes to church, and has family over for a big meal. I love that it's an effortlessly multicultural family (white mom, black dad, Russian-descent grandma). I also really like the brief descriptions of what Christians believe about Jesus - it's not a book about religion; it presents religion as very normal and the reason for celebration while offering a picture of a day when non-Christians celebrate too. The text is very simple, simple enough for my 2-year-old, but it has optional-read factoids on each page for older kids also. Finally, from a phonetics perspective it's nice to have a book where E makes two sounds next to each other.

Just what I needed for my healthy me class.
The CATegorical cats are back in action to tell us about fruit and the fruit group
The CATegorical cats are all set to give kids the scoop on fruit. According to MyPyramid for Kids, children should be eating between "1 to 1.5 cups of fruit every day." We all know we need to exercise and eat right, but not all children know what they need to eat and how much. There are five different categories on the pyramid: grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, and meat & beans. A purple CATegorical cat, with a Cheshire cat grin no less, is all set to give us the definition of a fruit. He points to his easel that says a fruit is: "The part of a plant that contains seeds. Fruits can usually be eaten. Most fruits taste sweet."
Three zany cats sit on a bench snacking on fruit. "Some fruits are juicy, while others are dried. / Some have a core and some seeds deeps inside. / Some fruits are sweet, while others are sour. / And they help keep us healthy with vitamin power!" There are superhero cats, cat docs on parade, cats in orchards, and scattered everywhere telling us all about fruit and how it can help us stay healthy. You'll learn about different kinds of fruit, how much we should eat, where they are grown, how we can eat them, you'll learn about some that make tasty juices, which ones are high in fiber, which ones are good for pies, and you'll learn many other interesting things about them. Do you know which one packs a "potassium punch?" If not, you simply need to check out these CATegorical cats.
The CATegorical cats are back in action to tell us about fruit and the fruit group. It never ceases to amaze me when Brian Cleary comes up with another super book with his ingenious rhyming scheme to teach yet another concept or lesson. This book, one in the Food is CATegorical series, rocks and rolls as its zany cat instructors tell us everything we need to know (well, almost) about fruit and why we need to eat it. The colorful, crazy artwork combined with the wawawa WONDERFUL verse will keep the reluctant reader going until the last page is turned. There is also a recommended link to the MyPyramid Plan children. This would be an excellent addition to any homeschool or classroom shelves!

A diverse cast gives multiple points of comparison.

This is a fun, lively book that will encourage young children to seek out other languages around them ...
Camila was a new student in the classroom and Romelie was interested in being her friend. English was the spoken language in the classroom, but both of the girls spoke a different language at home. It was going to be exciting to learn each otherâs languages! Camila spoke Spanish at home and Romelieâs family used American Sign Language because her brother was deaf. The family used their âhands, bodies and facesâ to talk with him. Camila was able to sign the word âescuelaâ and Romelie knew that it meant âschool.â
It was going to be fun learning more about Spanish and sharing with Camila. Romelie was going to âplay a language gameâ with her mother over the weekend. She was going to speak the words she learned from Camila, but they would go in search of new ones. âLanguage is all around us,â her mother said as she pointed to a street sign. âMany come from American Indian Languages.â They went in search of other languages and found French, Hmong, Somali, Arabic, and even Norwegian. What languages can you find around you?
This is a fun, lively book that will encourage young children to seek out other languages around them. Romelie is very excited to share her language and learn about different ones, something many children would be interested in. The search for other languages is the type of game children would enjoy with a friend or as a classroom project. The book comes alive as Romelie discovers words around her. For example, she finds that her shampoo bottle has English, Spanish, and French words. In the back of the book is an index, a glossary of words used in the text, the American Sign Language alphabet, and additional recommended book and website resources to explore. There are free complementary downloadable educational resources on the publisherâs website.

LET'S LOOK AT SNAILS (Lightning Bolt Books) ---
WE look at our snail folks often and most often daily and honor and appreciate them as WE share our gardens with them and lovingly do so, and through the reading of all OUR favorite Amazon books on Snails, we have come to learn how to pick them up and pet them and silently talk to them, and WE find WE also learn MANY GLORIOUS lessons from our Snail Folks, for their caring and loving ways amongst themselves and their watchful eyes on their families and with their mates, in their choices of foods and habitats and when and where they choose to have their lives and their friends. BLESS them ALL. WE really LOOOVE our Snail Folk, and hope others are open to learn all the lovely traits of these tiny beings and come to honor them and appreciate their work and lives more. Blessings.
    Beautiful photography and quality construction.
This book is very informative and would probably be best suited for an educational setting. The text is simple but precise. The pictures are brilliantly colored and quite beautiful for the subject matter. My guess is the quality of the photography is what makes this book so expensive. If you can wait to see if it goes on the bargain book list again, please do. You will feel much better about the purchase. That being said, for the amount of use a teacher/school would see with this text, the full purchase price would definitely be worth it.
Snail non-fiction for an avid 6-year old snail lover
I bought this book for my grandson's sixth birthday. He has developed a deep interest in snails (last year it was dragons). His mother had a problem finding him books about snails that were not either too mature for him, ie, field guides, or books of fiction -- imaginative stories about snail characters. So, this book was just what they were looking for, and the little fellow has an eight-year-old brother who can read it to him. It was a good choice.
