  • HTL 084: #RelationshipGoals: How to successfully work with your spouse, with Finley and Brooke Robinson

#84 - This week’s topic is about relationships.

As you all know, they are wonderful, but they can be difficult, too.

We may happily journey with someone for a while, but our individuality can often lead us to diverge and go our own ways.

    Relationships are a choice.

You can’t pick your family, but you can decide how much you want them in your life. Same with you friends.

Picking a business partner is a bigger choice. You are investing in an important aspect of your life. A huge aspect of your life.

And then the biggest decision is choosing your spouse. You are committing to this one person to be with and love with and build a life with. As beautiful as it is, it’s tricky. There is a lot of give and take, ebb and flow, highs and lows.

Working with a business partner can be hard enough, but when that business partner is also your spouse, how do you combine the two, protect each one, and make both aspects of those relationships work?

Well, I have brought a success story on today. I am speaking with Finley and Brooke Robinson who have figured out how to succeed at both.

They have been married for 20 years, have three kids, work together in Brooke’s online fitness business and both are building Fin’s relationships coaching business.

Two vastly different individuals with two different business styles and personalities. How do they do it?

Well, listen in and observe the love and respect and the wisdom that they want to share to help you also succeed in working with your spouse.

  • HTL 083: How To Become a Ghostwriter, with Treasa Edmond

#83 - I haven’t done one of these in a while, but today’s show is another WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH MY LIFE.

This is a little series that has organically come into existence where I interview different people and the jobs they do.

If you are confused about what you want to do in your life, it is my hope that some of these interviews might help you out.

Today, I am speaking with Treasa Edmond about her career as a Ghostwriter.

Treasa was my guest a few weeks ago in episode 77. She was on to speak about how writing can help you overcome problems and help you break through walls.

In that episode, she mentioned that she is a professional ghostwriter. I found that intriguing and ask her to come back again to go more into detail about that.

I think you are really going to enjoy this interview.

If you are a writer, or if this is something you are good at and would like to make a career out of it, ghostwriting may be exactly what you are looking for.

  • Story Time 016: Mice Twice! by Joseph Low

ST016 -  It is storytime again, and this month I am reading, Mice Twice, by Joseph Low.

This book is a classic about an over-confident cat who decides he would like to have his neighbor, Mouse, for dinner.

Clever mouse stays one step ahead of Cat as they engage in a cat-and-mouse caper that doesn't end well for Cat.

Take a break, or snuggle in for bed, and enjoy this amusing story where the little guy wins.

  • HTL 081: How To Communicate with Empathy - Learn how GETTING it right is better than BEING right, with Michael Gerharz

#81-  Learning how to communicate with empathy is a skill that can help you be a better communicator.

    Let me explain.

Have you ever gone into a discussion full of purpose and determination only to have it go nowhere because it became a push and pull rather than a give and take?

Learning how to communicate better is a challenge for so many people.

One of the main reasons it often breaks down is because people want to be right no matter the cost.

When you go into a conversation so sure of your rightness, you are cutting off your ability to communicate with empathy.

You are not in the frame of mind to listen to the other’s point of view so you end up going in circles and wasting your breathe.

This mentality derails and sabotages so many good ideas and resolutions.

If you realize you could communicate better, then you made the right choice to listen to this episode.

Michael Gerharz is a communication coach. He helps people be seen and heard by their audience.

He is here today to explain how to communicate with empathy and why it is more important to GET IT RIGHT, rather than to BE RIGHT.

When you communicate with empathy, you show your communication partner respect.

Listen in as Dr. Gerharz tells you how to communicate with others respectfully, gracefully, and successfully.

  • HTL 080: How to Do Big Things That Scare You, with Wendy Pitts Reeves

#80- We are talking about fear today, but not about what it is or why it occurs. When it’s there, you know it.

Fear really gets in the way of us doing things that we really want to do. It happens to all of us, no matter how old you are. It is part of life, it will come up now and then.

But the only way to get past fear is to move through it.

And having a plan, or a formula, really, is something that will be very helpful for you.

The great thing about a formula is that it can be replicated over and over again and applied to all situations that scare you.

When you see that you CAN overcome obstacles, and get to do or have or be those things that want, your confidence becomes more solid every time.

I really want to convince you of this so I have brought on Wendy Pitts Reeves, a woman who has done so much in her life and has done so by overcoming things that scared her.

She knows the joys and challenges of doing what scares you on your way to personal and professional success. And she has a unique formula called the D7 framework for turning courage into confidence.

You are brave. You just need a path.

This is a really helpful podcast!

#79 - If you are dragging your feet on something or you don’t know why you can’t figure something out, or you don’t know where to start, it is often caused by dread, lack of knowledge, intimidation, and ultimately fear.

It is hard to find your way out of the dark when you have no idea how to find the light.

That’s why I am so happy to have Cady Macon on the show today.

Cady is a life coach and an intuitive who has created Compass Cards.

These are a deck of cards with questions you ask yourself to help you figure out where you are in proximity to the solution to your problem or answer to your question.

The framework and process are refreshingly simple yet so powerful.

You can find your way out of confusion or darkness by following your own North Star.

#78: We are all on our own journeys, doing things in our own way.

But your personal journey doesn’t mean you have to be a lone wolf trying to do it all by yourself.

Today's episode is about the importance of a vibrant inner circle.

My guest is Cara McLauchlan. She is a writer and an encourager (you will find that that is so true). She will tell you, not only how to create your circle, but explain how important these have been in her own life and how allowing these helpers and guides into your life will reflect and remind you of your best self.

  • HTL 077: How to Use Writing to Problem-Solve and Break Through Walls, with Treasa Edmond

#77  Today’s topic is about how to work through a problem you are having or breakthrough your personal wall by writing.

It is sometimes nice to talk to others or seek outside help but one of the best ways to help yourself is to write it out. Talk to yourself and listen to what you have to say.

Wait! Before you say, I don’t know how to do that, or I don’t like writing, or I am not a good writer, I have an answer to that. Well, my guest today does.

Treasa Edmond is a ghostwriter and a writing coach and she is here today to tell you many of the benefits writing can bring to your life.

Even if you are not a wordsmith or a poet, if you can speak then you can express yourself, problem-solve, overcome obstacles, and manifest your dreams by writing it all down.

It is so much easier to look at what is going on in your life when you get it out of your head and put it on paper. Treasa will tell you how easy it really is.
